The instrumental version of this track gathered many trance fans. This vocal version, featuring the vocals of Antonia Lucas, will have at least as many as the instrumental. Okay so he writes the songs, but seriously, it's Lisa Hannigan who has the class as a singer. That is not to say that Rice himself is a poor vocalist. As an Irish troubadour and perhaps the vanguard of the now mainstream folk 'scene' he's quite qualified as a singer. But somewhere in the middle of Live From The Union Chapel (at the song Then Go to be precise) you realise that there is a definite problem in the balance of power.As the name suggests, this EP was recorded at London's Union Chapel in what seems to be a pretty intimate setting. You can picture a small room, without too many windows and just about a hundred people seated comfortably in lounge chairs. Sad news this morning, as Denver Broncos running back Damien Nash has died at the age of 24. Nash collapsed and died suddenly after a charity basketball game in the St. Louis area yesterday, according to the Associated Press. This is the second death of a Denver Broncos player this year; Darrent Williams was gunned down just two months ago. More about this story can be found here.

Driving to Pasadena there is a Damien Avenue.  As a kid growing up I was repeatedly disappointed in the absence of bicycle license plates with my name on them.  Besides that, fridge magnets, personalized caps, souvenirs of all types and the like.  It must have been a scant choice for young women naming babies in and around 1969.  My mom thought it a clever, intelligent choice to name me Damien because I think Arlo Guthrie’s son was name that or something Bohemian like that.  The truth is, I’ve always liked my name.  My folks never would have dreamt that Gregory Peck later in the 70’s would star in a world-rocking thriller called “The Omen” that would forever alter the social life of all boys (now in their 30’s) BLESSED with our wonderful name.  I tried to change it to my middle name in 3rd grade but found I missed my nominal identity, so . . . I kept it and now it stays. Sometimes I feel like a needle in a haystack, and my name sets me apart.Â
