Debra Jenner has been denied parole seven times, but, will seek her freedom once again next week. In 1987, she stabbed her three-year-old daughter, Abby, 70 times with a Chicago Cutlery knife because the child was "fussy" (read more about the details of the murder here). In 2003, Jenner admitted her guilt in taped interviews and former Governor Bill Janklow (R) commuted her sentence to 100 years in prison. Chief Deputy Attorney General Mark Barnett opposes her release, however, because he says Jenner privately tells fellow inmates that she is innocent. As such, the 50-year old's sentence will end in 2039, with good behavior. Jenner's original sentence was life without the possibility of parole.
I kill you...I kill you....bitch!! Tá muito linda, muito phopha...mesmo assim...não me convenceu! Bjostenhomedadela!

This post, at the ArgusLeader, retells the story of "the Janklow 36." Twenty-two years ago, in October of 1986, Governor Bill Janlow (R) addressed the prison overcrowding pardon by releasing individuals that he considered to be "low-risk inmates with few South Dakota ties." Thus, the commutations were conditioned on the recipients leaving the state and never returning. The article says a commutation of that sort "has not been granted in South Dakota before or since." The result of the effort? The ArgusLeader notes:It was a gamble that, according to an Argus Leader investigation, turned out to be a much bigger public safety risk to South Dakota and other states than the governor probably ever imagined. A few took advantage of the release to re-enter society, starting families and businesses

Abortion opponents are an interesting lot. For years, they have argued that all abortion is wrong as it involves the taking of a life. A cowboy from Texas rode into town and stopped at a saloon for a drink. Unfortunately, the locals always had a habit of picking on strangers, which he was. When he finished his drink, he found his horse had been stolen. He went back into the bar, handily flipped his gun into the air, caught it above his head without even looking and fired a shot into the ceiling."Which one of you sidewinders stole my horse?!?!?" he yelled with surprising forcefulness. No one answered. "Alright, I'm gonna have another beer, and if my horse ain't back outside by the time I finish, I'm gonna do what I dun in Dakota! And I don't like to have to do what I dun in Dakota "Some of the locals shifted restlessly. The man, true to his word, had another beer, walked outside, and his horse has been returned to the post.

Remember the mummified dinosaur discovery that made the huge headlines months ago? It's now being reported again. After careful cleaning and removing rock from its body, scientists were able to identify the dinosaur as an Edmontosaurus. Something I have been thinking it was. Especially since this fossil was found dated to about 67 million years ago at the same time Edmontosaurus once roamed the earth. I thought it was an Edmontosaurus when I first looked at the fossil and the dinosaur and now I know for sure it is an Edmontosaurus, one of the most common duck-billed dinosaurs that lived in large herds for protection against their tyrannosaurian enemies. There has been talk about touring the fossil all over the country, but I'm like Laelaps who would rather just have National Geographic no

A couple of years came and went with the same routine.......... A trainer here and there. I had gotten my trailer in 2005 and that seemed to be the best year I had with Dakota. By that time I had the little grade mare worth her weight in gold, Misty, who Jess and Gerald had found for me. I had been able to get him on the trail. The first trail ride, Todd took him out along the road while I rode Misty, Dakota reared at a passing truck. The second was on the trail and Todd rode again. Getting him to cross water was a challenge, but once he did get in the water, we had to get him out quick. Dakota loved water! The next few trail rides, I was able to take him out with a group, although he could behave so badly on the ground, he wasn't too bad out on the trail. He loved the trail and wanted to
So Dakota was here and I had connected the training pen to the lean-to temporarily until the fence for the paddock and pasture were finished. I had gotten all the things I needed. The 100 gallon water trough, feed dishes, feed and cleared out a space in the garage and layed down some pallets and ordered my hay. I believe it was about September of 2000 when Dakota moved in. I can't remember exactly, may have been October.I set up the training pen and starting lunging Dakota on my off days as Jess had taught me. That is until Winter set in and I was limited to just spending time with him feeding and watering and he eventually got better with Huck the farrier. I sucked in every piece of advice I could. Bought the books on training, veterinary, horse care and all I could. Many a call to Jess f
There seems to be a lot of talk recently about the right horse, the wrong people, the right trainer, etc.. So I thought I would share my experience with my first horse. The horse of my own. The first horse I ever bought. And this horse is Dakota, registered name Dusk Te Troubles. And don't ever let anyone say that there's nothing in a name..........This story begins in the year 2000, when I had finally good reason and bit the bullet to get a divorce from my daughter's father. I had the property. I had wanted a horse and pony for years, but the marriage being what it was, well, it just didn't happen. So onward I went, keeping the home and Zoe in my care and meeting Steve over the Internet. I decided that it was time to get my horse.I asked Jess to keep an eye out and help me find my horse a

A Canadian Foreign Affairs official told Cats With Thumbs off the record: " We couldn't be happier - as you are no doubt aware, Canada is seldom at the forefront of global media interest and the cou

Levi Johnson claims that he broke the world record for hot sauce consumption up in Tea South Dakota. Levi downed 5.5 ounces of Tobasco at a sports bar. 5.5 ounces may not sound like much but a shot is 1.5 ounces. So Levi had 3 2/3′ds shots of hot sauce.
That’s a lot of Tobasco. Most people only use a few dashes of tobasco to spice things up. One of my favorite shots to give someone on their 21st birthday is a Prairie Fire. It is a shot of tequila with tobasco added. Even with that shot, only a few dashes are added.
The Guinness Book of World Records is still in the verification process of Levi’s claim. Reports do not indicate how much liquor was consumed that led up to Levi’s daring demonstration, but witnesses report hearing a “Whooooo!” exclaimed shorly there after. Levi’s rectum was unavailable for comment the next day.

Or is that Shari starts her training to train Dakota. It's important I get this right. With Dakota being a yearling, she needs to learn respect and grow out of her "pocket pet" attitude. Now, I'll be the first to admit losing 80 or so pounds would be good for me. You should see me huff and puff my way around the farm.Actually, I'm getting better. At least I don't completely run out of air before I get the daily chores done. But, working a horse in our round pen, is a lot more work. The ground is very soft sand, and is quite uneven as the horses sink halfway up their hooves. That leaves big divots to navigate... that and the road apples they drop.Dakota's first lesson yesterday was to accept the "stick and string". She'd been trained to voice and whistle. However, I prefer to point, "cluck", and then hit the ground with the stick and string. That's the method taught by Clinton Anderson of Downunder Horsemanship. She did very well, letting me rub her all over with the stick and strin
Imagine our surprise when Dixie, our neighbor asked if we'd take Dakota, her yearling paint filly. We'd known since she put her place up for sale there was an "outside chance" we'd get one of the horses... but we never, ever thought it would be Dakota. This is her very favorite little filly.I hadn't gotten here yet when Dakota was born, but Bev and Cindy were at Dixie's within a few days of her birth. Her daddy, "Sailor" is a full Quarter Horse paint, and her momma is 1/2 Quarter Horse, 1/4 Saddle Bred, and 1/4 Appaloosa. So that makes Dakota a whole lot more Quarter Horse. The pictures below start with daddy, and then momma and baby, taken last year in late May.Yesterday afternoon, Dixie stopped by and asked us to come over later. We hadn't told Mom, yet, that we're getting another horse. At dinner, Mom inquired as to what Dixie wanted with us at her place... Well, let's just say Mom thinks we're "babysitting" for a while, a long while. The plan was to "pony" Dakota off the back o

South Dakota Real Estate by Seth Willis Jr.South Dakota is a state known for having great places is found in the central-north region of United States. Its name came from American Indian tribes. The largest and longest river in the state, the Missouri river has divided the state into two, the east river and the west river.South Dakota’s EnvironmentOne distinct feature of South Dakota real estate is the group of low mountains vastly covered by pine trees, known to the residents as the Black Hills. Because of its appearance, it has become one of the tourist attractions of the state, apart from this; it has been a religious sanctity of local people living there, particularly the American Indians. Black Hills is rich with minerals, and in fact the largest gold mine in the United States is situated here, the Homestake Mine. The place was also one of the many choices being considered by the United Nations to be its permanent home.Very Low PopulationSouth Dakota real estate still registers

National Geographic Traveler is the only magazine I subscribe to, and when it comes in the mail I check the contents immediately. What destinations did they write about this time? The newest issue came with several good articles, including "Zigzagging the Black Hills".I smiled when I read the article because it reminded me of our first big road trip with the boys (they were 6, 4 and almost 2 years old), although our itinerary varied a bit from Traveler's. It was a 9 hour drive from our house to Badlands National Park with 1 hour stops in Sioux Falls for a picnic lunch and in Mitchell to visit the Corn Palace. We arrived in the Badlands in time for a short hike before dinner. We decided to hike the window trail near the northeast entrance. The boys loved the climbing, and we had to hold on to our youngest who thought he could do whatever his brothers did. After dinner we did some more exploring. The striped sandstone hills were amazing to see as the sun set. If you don't have y

It is ironic that I am now sitting outside, in a tent, at the West Yellowstone KOA, and I finally have internet access. Anyway, I will be posting some highlights of the trip.
It has been a lot of fun so far!
On the first day of the journey, we stopped in Mitchell, South Dakota at Cabella’s. This was an awesome experience, especially since we were actually on vacation, and therefore in need of some camping stuff.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — At the school where a nickname controversy has been lingering for years, University of North Dakota sophomore Ryan Duncan watched his nickname change overnight. He went from “Dunc” to “Hobey” after winning college hockey’s version of the Heisman Trophy.
The Hobey Baker Award winner wants his old nickname back.
“I would rather just be one of the guys,” Duncan said this week while sitting in the stands of the Ralph Engelstad Arena, home to the

Okay, so maybe compared to the rest of the population, I’m something of a health nut.
No, I am a health nut. Tree hugging, tofu scrambling, vitamin taking, water guzzling health nut. I was excited when I found this free sample of Dakota Flax Gold because I sprinkle flax seed on my oatmeal anyway (or take it in capsule form). It’s great for your skin and hair, managing triglycerides, and cleansing your colon. YUM.

A group of North Dakota students is working to gather 15,000 signatures on petitions to get an initiative on a statewide ballot to raise North Dakota's beer tax.Students Against Destructive Decisions says the $1.3 million in new tax revenue would finance a state commission that would work to prevent alcohol and drug abuse. The student's plan calls for raising the tax of draught beer from 8 cents a gallon to 16 cents and the tax on beer in cans and bottles from 16 cents per gallon to 24 cents. That would cause the price of a case of beer to go up 18 cents. The students claim that studies show North Dakota youth have the highest rate of binge drinking in the nation.
Some people just never give up.
Three months after South Dakota voters rejected an abortion ban at the polls by a 56-44 margin, state legislators have introduced another "sweeping abortion bill…that supporters hope will lead to a legal challenge of Roe v. Wade"
The ban rejected in November was "extreme, allowing for abortion only in instances to prevent the death of a woman. The revised ban, titled the "Women's Health and Human Life Protection Act,' offers additional exceptions, though they are very narrowly defined"
Got one of those cool hand blenders? You know, the kind of gadget that used to be pitched onthose annoying yet compelling late-night infomercials? It comes in handy for this recipe, whichrequires the split peas to be smashed into a smooth consistency, just like the original. If you don't have a hand mixer, a standard blender works just fine. This soup is very tasty and very low in fat. And the barley gives it a special chunky consistency and added flavor that isn't found in most pea soups.2 cups split peas6 cups water2 14.5-ounce cans chicken broth (4 cups)1/3 cup minced onion1 large clove garlic, minced2 teaspoons lemon juice1 teaspoon salt1 teaspoon granulated sugar1/4 teaspoon dried parsley1/4 teaspoon white pepperdash dried thyme1/2 cup barley6 cups water2 medium carrots, diced (about 1 cup)1/2 stalk celery, diced (1/4 cup)Garnishchopped green onion1.Rinse and drain the split peas, then add them to a large pot with 6 cups of water, chickenbroth, onion, garlic, lemon juice, salt,

Pierre, South Dakota - A coalition of military and consumer groups that persuaded Congress to impose a 36 percent interest-rate cap on payday loans to military members and their families is gearing up to fight the whole issue all over again.
I've already done two separate posts slamming South Dakota for 1. Their new abortion law which bans virtually ALL abortions; and 2. A ballot initiative which would disbar — even imprison — judges who make unpopular decisions.
So in the spirit of fairness, here's the good news: the people of South Dakota defeated both of those laws on Election Day. You Go People! Twenty-first Century here we come.
The abortion law was passed earlier this year by a huge majority of the state legislature. Opponents of the law put a measure on the ballot to overturn it, and 55% of the people voted to overturn the abortion ban. Methinks a few legislators are out of touch with their constituents.
Abortion opponents were hoping this law would be appealed to the Supreme Court, and this would pave the way for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe vs. Wade. Whoa, not so fast!
The ballot initiative for disciplining "activist judges" was known as "JAIL 4 Judges" This would have turned the clock b
Since the original Fuck South Dakota was such a hit, it's time for a sequel. Not content with their medieval abortion law, the people of South Dakota are threatening to turn the clock back even further. In November they'll be voting on a ballot initiative. If it passes, judges who make unpopular decisions could be imprisoned.
Again, this is South Dakota, United States of America. Not South Yemen. Not Saudi Arabia. South Dakota.
The ballot measure is known as JAIL 4 Judges. Apparently these braindead rednecks think our judicial system — you know, checks and balances and all that — is just too much trouble. What these assholes really need is a time machine so they can travel back to the Spanish Inquisition.
The concept of judicial immunity dates back to the thirteenth century. This doctrine protects judges against personal liability for their decisions. South Dakota's law, if it passes, will create a grand jury — basically a fourth branch of government — whose sole purp
Last night's Bobby Bare Jr. show at the 400 Bar in Minneapolis got off to a late start. From the sound of things it sounds like we were lucky the show went on at all.
For a show with 8pm doors, we sure got home late (quarter past 2am). It turns out that was because the headliner, Bobby Bare Jr. and his band (the Young Criminals' Starvation League) were pulled over and detained somewhere in South Dakota (I never like that place :). 3 members of the 5 person ensemble made it to the Minneapolis venue just as the 2nd band (Radio On) was finishing up. Their was even an emergency performance by Michael Morris with a group of people with whom he had never played (including the guitarist from The Pines) to fill the time. Both of these first acts were good. Michael Morris was an unexpected surprise and I was really impressed. I enjoyed Radio On's set but at times front man Dan's antics got a little out of pocket - think a more flamboyant Iggy Pop (is that possible).

It's payback time for the religious right. South Dakota's new law will let us see how America copes in a post-Roe world. And I can only blame liberals for allowing it to happen. But, that's beside the point.I figure it's gone. If Alito and the gang don't overturn it, then measures will have to be taken to further ensure their security. Too many people on the right have given up everything to see it happen. And they won't be happy if their president from God, whose given them a Supreme Court from God doesn't come though.

Dear World,I must confess, I, Dakota Fanning, am the ringleader of the international porn ring that was recently discovered by Austrian police. You may think that I am an innocent child actor known for her strong acting ability, precociousness, and tendency to do creepy, underage rape scenes in independent movies. But that is where you'd be mistaken. I am actually a disguised 47-year-old midget named John Lee McGillicutty, known the world over for his sickening devotion to child pornography. Fear me!The Austrian police will never catch me, for I am a master of disguise. Sure, I'm revealing my identity now, but that is only because I have grown tired of this "Dakota Fanning" character that I have created and will soon take on the appearance of another up-and-coming child actor in Hollywood. Several years ago I created a different fool-proof identity that you may know as Haley Joel Osment. I soon grew tired of him and passed on the role to one of my cronies. Don't you remember when Ha
