La mente maestra detrás de las guitarras de Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, lanzará un DVD en septiembre próximo a través de Columbia. El trabajo llevará por título 'Live In Gdañsk' y fue grabado durante su último concierto de su gira del 2006 en Polonia. Al parecer será toda una pieza de colección ya que durante este concierto Gilmour estuvo apoyado por 40 músicos pertenecientes a la Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra conducida por Zbigniew Preisner, quien realizó todos los arreglos de cuerdas para el álbum 'On An Island' de David. También contará con una ejecución única de la canción 'A Great Day For Freedom' con la orchesta y los arreglos realizados por Michael Kamen y el piano ejecutado por el pianista polaco Leszek Mozdzer en una versión única de la canción 'A Pocket

Falar de ídolos pode é muito prazeroso, mas nem sempre uma tarefa das mais fáceis. Não se trata de um "disco solo", mas sim uma "extensão" do próprio Pink Floyd naquele difícil começo dos anos 80's - para o Rock progressista. Difícil porque o Pink Floyd tinha dado um tempo, Roger Waters, como sempre, afundado no seu egocentrismo e a batalha judicial, de ambos, para se apossarem da "marca" Pink Floyd e a mídia havia se voltado para fórmulas mais fáceis e descartáveis, ou seja, fabricando o sucesso. Mas (ainda) havia a música. "About Face" tem tudo da banda original de David e se esse album não havia a presença de Roger Waters, Rick Wright e Nick Mason, havia um timaço que deu conta do recado: Steve Winwood (Traffic), Jon Lord (Deep Purple), Bob Ezrin (megaprodutor), Jeff Porcaro (Toto) e sem falar na colaboração de Pete Townshend (The Who), na composição de algumas músicas. Well this is the closest your gonna get so enjoy it."David Gilmour released his second solo venture in 1984, following the apparent dissolution of Pink Floyd. He had released a record on his own in 1978, but About Face is much more accessible. Gilmour has a stellar band backing him, including Jeff Porcaro (drums), Pino Palladino (bass), and Anne Dudley (synthesizer). The songs on About Face show a pop sensibility that Pink Floyd rarely was concerned with achieving. Although the album didn't attract the attention of a Floyd release, several cuts did manage to get airplay. "Until We Sleep" is rife with shimmering synthesizers and cavernous drums, and "Blue Light" was a minor pop hit, with Gilmour's trademark delay-drenched guitar giving way to a driving, horn-laced rocker. Pete Townshend wrote two of the tracks: "Love on the Air" and the propulsive "All Lovers Are Deranged." O
Available for a limited period over the Christmas holidays - and dedicated to the memory of Syd Barrett, who passed away in July - will be an 'Arnold Layne' single featuring two live versions of the song: one with David Bowie on vocals, the other with Richard Wright (both from the Royal Albert Hall).Poignantly, it will also include a live acoustic cover of 'Dark Globe', from Syd's debut album, 'The Madcap Laughs'. There will be a limited press of 7" singles in Europe and 10" singles in North America.These will be available in all good record shops from 26 December.
