And, so, Children of the Resolution is slowly coming to a close. The final chapter is almost complete and the epilogue should only take a day or two. The end of next week, at the very latest, should see me proofing and editing.

I'm playing around behind the scenes, in case you haven't noticed. Adding a third column, changing some sidebar stuff. Trying not to completely explode my template.
So if you notice things suddenly appearing or disappearing, just ignore them. Hopefully, everything will work out well in the end.
Thanks for your patience.
A musical version of Gone With the Wind has closed in London after just two months on the West End. The show, which cost $8 million to put on, has become one of the biggest flops in the history of London's West End. Plans for a New York production are wisely on hold.
Constructing masterful junctions in between pop, shoegazing, Dream pop and the most alternative options of rock & roll, The Curtain Society formed in Southbridge, MA, in 1988. Like some of their early musical contemporaries, The Ocean Blue, The House of Love, and The Stone Roses, the band managed to blend the blurry atmospheres of the popular 4AD scene with traditional rock and pop songwriting. Shower curtain prices depend on the materials that are used to make curtains. Materials used could be cotton, jute, vinyl, polyester or rayon. Polyester and vinyl curtains are available at reasonable prices. Curtains that come with single waterproof fabric and strong color printings are less expensive. Another important factor in determining shower curtain prices is the curtain size. Curtains come

Have you ever experienced uncomfortable shower curtain sequence that bother you almost all the time while you where having a nice shower? I had a one which is a nightmare! One fine day while I was having shower, an unexpected lady visitor of mine came in to the toilet for the water closet right in front of my shower curtain. I was in a total shocked when I knew what was happening. Suddenly the curtain blow in and stick right to my whole body, showing every part of me to the outer side! What a shame experienced that I may hardly forgotten. If only I had a shower curtain stopper like ShowerBow, this nightmare of mine would not happen. Showerbow can be install within seconds and no tools is required! It performs in a simple way where a counterweight tips out and hold the curtain to create an ex
Despite the seemingly good news that the U.S. has avoided a technical recession, there's actually a bit more to it than that. From a story by BusinessWeek's Peter Coy:...the cut in the federal funds rate they announced on Apr. 30—a quarter-point, to 2%— probably won't be enough. Senior U.S. economist Paul Ashworth of London-based Capital Economics predicts the Fed will be forced to cut the funds rate to 1% by summer's end. The U.S. economy remains in dire need of aid, and the financial system, while no longer in flames as it seemed to be a couple months ago, is still smoldering. At the same time, inflation, aside from food and energy, is more a theoretical threat than a real one. Core prices rose just 2% from the first quarter of 2007 through the first quarter of 2008, going by the Fe
Well friends, How are you?. I am fine and I just hope that everybody are fine. I am going to blog about something which is related to the ShowerBow. It was very interesting to read this article and to say the least I was just fascinated by it. This is a post concerned about the shower bow and is developed by Patrick Reymond. He invented in one day while standing in the shower. Instead of putting up with clingy curtains one can start the day off with more space. Another interesting news is that Patrick was recently elected to the Board of the United Inventors association, where he serves to support inventors.I have never experienced the dreaded shower curtain effect but I got idea about it as my friends told me about it. Shower bow installs in seconds and it just snaps onto your existing

Today, thanks to the internet, there are so many places that young people can get information on possible careers. And this is a very good thing, because most high schools do not prepare their students for life in the real world. Yes, there’s a lot of emphasis in high school on passing AP exams and doing well on the SATs, as well as doing well on federal standardized tests. Yet where is the exposure to possible career paths needed in order for young people to fully consider their options? In 1970 in the world of MRS. LIEUTENANT: A SHARON GOLD NOVEL, the U.S. Army for most young men meant fighting in Vietnam, a country halfway around the globe. Some young men enlisted and some young men went R.O.T.C. LG's 5.1 megapixel OZ: a Casio W53CA hides behind the curtainWell lookie here, LG just announced a followup to its LH2300 Touch Web phone. This one's for the twisty-fold clamshell fans -- a design which makes it look positively Japanese superphone-like. In fact, we're pretty sure it's just the Casio W53CA with LG branding and new Hello UI for Korean consumption. Interesting given that Korea certainly isn't lacking in mega-spec'd phones. Anyway, given the Exilim underpinnings it's no surprise to find a 5.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, 28-mm lens, color correction, 9-point auto focus, and built-in anti-shake technology bunged into the backside. The LCD measures 2.8-inches (down from the LH2300's 3-inch LCD) yet still manages the same 800 x 480 pixel resolution for DMB television and landscape or p

This little bookcase belonged to my mother-in-law. It belonged to her parents and probably dates from around 1912. It is pretty typically Edwardian. Oh the chap in the picture is the original owner. I am tired of trying to find a photo to paint from on the week-day evenings so I am going to try to do more of these "found" still-lifes. The light isn't great, but yet another challenge that is probably character building or something.
Just a few weeks ago the national media descended on Memphis to market what was the highest ranked regular season basketball game of the year. The media machine was in full force, and Tennessee and Memphis did not disappoint. If only for one night Tennessee (of all places in these United States) was the center of the basketball universe. Now one question remains. What were the members of the NCAA selection committee watching when all this was going on?

If this concept could actually be made to work, it would be pretty smart, don't you think? The less holes drilled in the bathroom walls, the better, we say. We don't really understand how the pipe is supposed to support the wet shower curtain, though, but we trust they'll work that out in time. From Matteo Thun & Partners.
Occasionally as I am making my rounds through the blogosphere, I run across someone referring to me in excessively laudatory terms, e.g. "the mighty Diesel" or "Mr. Diesel President-CEO-Founder-King of Humor-Blogs." I've flown on a lot of planes. I mean a lot. Not only passenger planes, but almost 300 rides in various cargo planes and puddle-jumpers with an aim not to get the free peanuts, but instead to jump out … and skydive.
When I've traveled on planes in the more conventional sense though, I've always been resigned to the dreaded Economy Class. The Barn. You know … how the low-lives of the world travel. The cramped seats with mediocre arm rests where inevitably a screaming baby is strategically placed near you, and maybe two if it's an especially long flight.

New winds of change are blowing across Europe. Starting December 21, the passport free Schengen Zone will be expanded to include nine more countries - eight of them former Iron Curtain members. Fewer land and sea travel border checks will be required for these countries. Not only that, but by March the expansion is expected to include airports in 24 European nations.
The Schengen Zone was born out of the 1985 agreement in a Luxembourg village (from which it takes its name) between Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Since then it has expanded to include 30 European members, including all EU member states and three non EU members. This recent expansion is the largest and includes Malta and eight Eastern European states.
For now, all the excitement is centered on the fact that daily life will become easier for residents rather than any dramatic changes in economic status for the newly inducted countries. In towns like Valga-Valka on the Estonian Latvian borde

The Wall: Growing Up Behind the Iron Curtain
Seems only like yesterday when when the world was divided by the iron curtain. The Wall: Growing Up Behind the Iron Curtain by Peter Sis is a book reminiscent of Marjane Satrapi’s memoir Persepolis of a world so out of touch with our own and how people within seconds of the political gallows envision our own world. It’s a microcosm of new proportions of how we saw each other and then realized that we are not that much different. Read more>>peter sis, sandbox world, the wall, tony medeiros
By: David FaulknerA noise, or soundproof curtain, can be the solution to noise disturbances in a variety of environments. Many apartments and even family homes are not constructed with walls thick enough to withstand loud music, traffic noises, or the sounds of blaring televisions and radios. Workplace noise can also be distracting and have an effect on employee productivity. A soundproof curtain could be the cheapest, most efficient way to eliminate the noise issue from any of these situations. You can find a soundproof curtain in one of several styles to accommodate your particular needs. The acoustic screen has soundproof curtain materials, usually a combination of vinyl and fiberglass, mounted in panels on steel frames which are joined with soundproof seals. Several screens can be snapped together to provide the soundproof curtain of the appropriate size, and the individual screens normally measure 4 X 8. The great thing about a soundproof curtain is its portability. It can be posit

Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti, perhaps the greatest opera singer of our time – if not all time – has passed away at the age of 71.Pavarotti died from complications of pancreatic cancer, from which he had been battling for quite some time. The owner of one of the most extraordinary voices ever heard, Pavarotti rose to fame in the late 1960s and early 1970s, giving mainstream attention and admiration to a form of theater that previously was reserved for an elitist niche.Pavarotti’s final public performances took place during a farewell tour in 2006...a tour he had to cancel to get surgery for his declining health. Pavarotti expected to resume his tour at some point this year...sadly, we’ll never get to see that happen.
This must be a textbook example of how to write a promotion e-mail. The other day I received a mail from someone called Joe (I'm not making this up), who wrote that I might like new singer/songwriter Yoav. At first it looked like just another one of those 40-50 promotion mails I received every day, but further down in his mail he adds "Hope you enjoyed your trip to London. There are still some record shops on Berwick St, just not as many as before!". And just like that I love this guy, as he's obviously been reading this post. So immediately my thoughts went something like "since he's been reading what I've been writing, I should at least give his recommendation a few spins".And lucky me I did and a few moments later I found myself listening to a really cool and highly talented new artist. The music is almost impossible to label, though in his press material he suggests the description "Beck meets Buckley meets Bjork". But the more I listen to his songs (5 of them so far) the more
When I got home this afternoon, my dog got very excited and in her usual exuberant fashion, ran around in circles like a maniac. Today's circle running was a bit different -- she somehow tangled herself in the curtains framing the sliding glass doors. Twisted in Ikea fabric, she got freaked out (wouldn't you?), and started running in the opposite direction of the window, which, of course, resulted in a large crash, complete with curtains falling and yanking out the curtain rod braces? holders? you know what I'm talking about... out of the wall.I admit, I was annoyed. Pissed even. I yelled. She ran outside.I felt bad and gave her a treat. Dogs are awesome.Sigh.After a few minutes I calmed down. I made myself some chai and started working on putting those gosh darn curtain rods back up.During Daisy's curtain incident (as I shall call it), the screws had stripped their holes and some of the drywall tore and flaked off the wall. Okay.At first, I attempted to replace them as was

Recently I had a post which looked at the results of the annual 'Corporate Hall of Shame', a poll taken to expose the world's worst corporate abusers. Afterwards, I did a bit of research on each of these companies to see for myself exactly why they made the final list. This was definitely an eye-opening experience! After looking under the PR curtains these companies put up with their slick press releases and sifting through the corporate media stories, a picture developed that was quite disturbing. This post was originally intended to be a detailed look at just one of the companies on that list but as time passed and I read more and more information, this became impossible. I plan to present this in a series of posts each with its own story. Together, let's study what has gone terribly wrong with business today and the horrific practices employed all in the name of profits and expanded markets.
Just a few little tidbits today:Zachary Pincus-Roth of the New York Times has a very interesting piece on the uniquely American phenomenon of entrance applause. Whilst flattering, the consensus seems to be that it is a hindrance theatrically. While most of the discussion centers around well-known faces prompting applause, The Coast of Utopia is singled out as an example where the set was the cause of the claps:[...] Billy Crudup and Ethan Hawke did not usually get it when entering amid an ensemble in “The Coast of Utopia.” But the sweeping opening of the first play in the trilogy — when an ocean effect of swirling curtains is transformed into a stage full of serfs — frequently elicited applause. [...] There is also mention of the Japanese tradition of kakegoe, whereby anything resembling a curtain call is replaced by sporadic shouting at the cast throughout the performance. The Coast of Utopia without a curtain call? Not a happy thought indeed!Cinematical has a (little) more in
Behind the rise and fall of Orange Countys subprime lending industry were Wall Street investment banks that turned the mortgages into lucrative securities. The Bohan Group is one of the largest firms providing due diligence of mortgages before securitization. Until recently, Irvine was home to the San Francisco-based companys largest office, because more than a third of the nations subprime mortgages originated through companies in Orange County at the peak of the housing market. Paul Bohan, the companys founder and chief executive officer, spoke to the Orange County Registers John Gittelsohn about how the subprime meltdown has affected his business. Some excerpts:
Q. Whats going on with securitization?
A. "Weve seen a big drop off, but I think theyre going to come back, maybe in 2008. There will always be a market for subprime loans. Weve seen a tremendous drop-off in stated income loans. There was pressure on lenders to bring it to a halt because it was riddled wi
Eastern Art and design have their own charm and the Joyn hexagon shaped pieces look beautiful when attached together. These pieces can be used a curtain or can also divide a given space. Designed by Hiroshi Tsunoda, the Joyn “it’s connected and swiftly hung up, on a steel cable using the accompanying attachment pieces, or directly to the wall using a number of fixation methods.”

Source: Carl Nolte, SFGate/ ChronicleFloor-to-ceiling walls give rooms great views -- a design Willis Polk pioneered in San Francisco. This week crews poured the 60th and last residential floor at One Rincon, the condominium atop San Francisco's Rincon Hill. In about a month, the building will be topped off at 605 feet. At the end of the week, the building stood 587 feet, 8 inches above First and Harrison streets. It is taller than the Washington Monument and, like it or not, One Rincon is already a San Francisco landmark. One Rincon still has an incomplete look about it. The cement core of the building is exposed at the top, and the glass exterior reaches up to the 50th floor, 482 feet above the street. It is the glass and metal facing of the building -- called the curtain wall in the trade -- that will give One Rincon its look, the way the dark color of the Bank of America building gives that tower its distinctive appearance, the way the white bulk of the Telephone

The large Internet response for this film was very unexpected, as the work itself is not finished. The Google release was simply to show immediate friends & consultants. Over the course of the next few weeks a new version of the work will be presented. In all humility I want to point out that 99% of the information in the current work is accurate. The 1% that is highly debatable is going to be clarified or removed. The graphics are also going t
This funky and fun shower curtain is made out of recycled detergent packets. They were cut, collaged, and carefully sewn together.
Just like the umbrella, the trash was collected by Indonesians for Monsoon! Monsoon does great things for Indonesia, includes works towards providing cleaner water and healthier food!
The shower curtain is $50.00 and can be ordered here.

With the 10 year treasury yield at 4.99% and likely to cross up into 5% territory, the mettle of the Wall Street's bulls' willingness to buy stocks 'til the cows come home will likely be tested in the days ahead. I'm not ready to say the bull market is imminent peril, but I am a bit uncomfortable with the converging worlds of higher bond yields here in the U.S. and an outside negative like a
A small scale merger Monday is already in the making and as usual it features companies that were not part of the Friday rumor mill:
Netherlands' Qiagen buying Digene for $1.6 billion. Digene (DIGE) closed Friday at $44.77 with just a smattering of options trading. The takeover price is $61.25. Hot diggity!
Blackstone, purported in the rumor mill to be after Micron (MU) is making a buy. But
My apologies, folks, for my limited posting of late as I've been busy attending to other business matters in recent days. I've also been walloped with a pretty severe case of sinusitis which has kept me down for the count (yes, the left side of my face is killing me). Another thing I've been busy doing is managing a small options account of a friend who put me to a friendly test of doubling it
While in the Lancaster area of Pennsylvania over the weekend, I discovered how to get to Paradise! How? Through Intercourse! It was an eye opening experience. Yes, in order to get to Paradise, PA, you first have to drive through a town called Intercourse, PA. Astounding, eh?
In the ongoing intercourse of business on Wall Street volume was lighter than usual and the range was fairly tight, but
I've been out all day attending to various matters related to my children's education. It's amazing how time flies, with only about 5 weeks to go before the school year is over.
5 weeks has been about the winning streak for Wall Street and eventually all good things must come to an end. Just by simple chart recognition, let alone looking at something like Bollinger Bands, it wasn't rocket
Even after sleeping on it, I know there is still so much to think about from last night's LOST episode. I've mentioned before that I try not to check into the spoilers, except I am anxious to see how this season will wrap up and see how others (bloggers, not The Others) have interpreted the symbols and references in the episode.I've read some interesting recaps/reviews of "Man Behind the Curtain" that you might be interested in:Curtain Call by Jeff Jensen on DarkUFOLost ... That was silly. Just when I start feeling good about Lost again, it steps out from behind the dumpster and flings a fist full of lame at me. Warm, sticky lame that’s stinky like the bodies in the Dharma ditch. I’ll bet that got fragrant in the summertime on Craphole Island.
I remember reading a theory way back in the first season that everything on the island was controlled by one guy and his super brain, which is probably this Jacob guy, who clearly has some issues with flashlights. I thought it was hinkey then, and I think it’s hinkey now. That whole interaction with Ben and Jacob and Locke was weak and would have been better if Ben really did have an imaginary friend. It would bring something new to his character.
What did surprise me was Ben shooting Locke, but even that was pretty lame. At that range, surely Ben could have nabbed him in the head. Don’t just shoot the guy in the gut and leave him in a death pit! That situation is ripe for the Lost

Earnings season pretty much came to a close in tech world last night with Cisco's thud of weaker than anticipated guidance and earnings season for the overall S&P 500 universe will effectively draw to a close on 5/15 when Wal Mart posts its Q1 numbers. Until then its mop up time with a smattering of smaller S&P 500 and 600 companies posting over the next several days. As the chart below shows,
As we near the season 3 finale of LOST (only 3 more shows!), I am so very curious how the season will end. Will we get more answers? Will they only lead to more questions? Will I end up loving or hating the finale? Will I make it until December without looking any spoilers?!? [I've been SO good this year - avoiding the forums and spoiler sites!]Last week's show "The Brig", revealed a very significant connection between two of the LOSTaways, yet raised an entire slew of questions. (What are Juliet & Jack hiding? What is Ben going to show Locke? Who is Naomi? Is Kate pregnant?)In anticipation of tonight's epic episode, I've ventured out to read about "The Man Behind the Curtain". Hopefully, we'll learn some real answers about The Others, Dharma, and/or The Island. I love that the show is so full of connections and literary clues and so rich in 'mythology'.Here are a few things I have come across:From TVGuide.com: Lost 10 pm/ET ABC New Locke's dead dad means one down and
As I suspected, too much options mania and Cisco (CSCO) could not meet the hopes and dreams of not only the wild eyed options speculators but the market in general . CEO John Chambers pegged the revenue outlook to 15% to 16% Q4 growth from the 20% rise seen in the April, or fiscal third quarter. Analysts had been expecting a full 16% rise in revenue for Q4.
So with Chambers guiding to slightly
Jobs will be front and center Wednesday morning. The Challenger Job Cut Report and ADP employment will be out at 7:30 and 8:15, respectively. By sorting through the two reports, economists should have a fairly good idea on where Friday's government employment data will be reported at. Friday's non farm payrolls are expected to come in at 100,000 with one estimate as low as 40k and the higest
