Whew! What a busy day. After work I had to run to the kids' school to meet with their teachers. The info sessions started at 5, but I couldn't get there any sooner than 6 o'clock thanks to my new work schedule. Oh my. They had warned me that things would be different in 4th Grade. Harder. Now that our oldest daughter is in the ninth grade, I will be taking on more home-school duties than I have had in the past (to my wife's considerable relief). We're using a modified form of Andrew Campbell's Latin-Centered Curriculum, which is going to give me a chance to reacquaint myself with elements of the Western canon that I either have not read in a long time, or else never read at all and have only been bluffing about. After deciding that I would indeed continue homeschooling past kindergarten, I began searching for curriculum. My husband wanted something classical. I was leaning toward Charlotte Mason. For those who go the route of prepackaged curriculums this is an easy task. With most predesigned plans you will get everything that you will need when you buy it. It can still be helpful to go through and make notes of any additional items, books, or tools that you may need. If you are planning on teaching more than what comes in your package you will need to plan out what you will need for that. Even if you are only going to be using what is offered in your packaged plan there will still be additional items that you will need: arts and crafts supplies, books for extra reading, and tools such as calculators or maps.
