Mike Gonzalez - Che Guevara and the Cuban Revolution
Cuba is a bit of an enigma for many people. For some, it is a socialist country, dedicated to the world revolution. For others it is simply a beautiful, but poor holiday destination. Che Guevara, the face on a million t-shirts, is of course the revolutionary most associated with this island. His life has been the subject of many biographies and much comment. He is an icon for millions of people

Should Cuban and Pritchard Have a Sitdown?
The Mavericks let injury ridden Darius Miles workout for them. If he signs anywhere and plays in 10 or more games, the Blazers owe him a nine million dollar salary. That begs the question, what does Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard do about it? We can speculate how much interest the Mavs have, but I think he's inching forward in getting a job.1. All about H.Upmann Cuban cigars
The H. Upmann cigars can actually be found in two separate companies that share the same name. The first of these is manufactured in Cuba and the other is made in the Dominican Republic. The only thing that these two cigar companies really share is a name and when most people think of the H. Upmann cigar brand, they consider the one that is rolled in Havana, Cuba.

Los Barbudos Tumbao All-Starts Cuban Revolution songs
This excellent CD is from 1959. In January of that year, optimism and uncertainty accompanied every Cuban as he walked along the beautiful countryside or teeming Havana. Fulgencio Batista had just decided that his position was no longer tenable as he lost support from the United States who had decided to refuse him any way of acquiring arms as well as most Cubans who wanted cleaner government. "Los Barbudos" or the "bearded ones" led by the suitably unshorn Fidel Castro easily filled the vacuum in the politically abandoned capital. It was only later that Castro declared his intention to "progress" Cuba to the state it's in now. The songs on this album provide one with the optimism prevalent in the beginning of the revolution like the song here. Other songs are called things like "land

A musical tour of Cuban cities with Beny More.
Map of Cuba, pre-revolution, with its original provinces: Pinar del Rio, La Habana, Matanzas, Las Villas, Camaguey, Oriente. Beny More loved Cuba. I can arrive at such a conclusion through simple deduction: People devote their energy and try to be close to what they love. Beny More left a lucrative career in Mexican music and film to return to Cuba. He also stayed in Cuba after the revolution of 1959 while many of the best Cuban singers, like Celia Cruz, left. Beny More sang about Cuba- alot. Many singers sang about Cuba in general and some sang about cities, but Beny is the only one who paid musical tribute to more than one city. Not only that, but he often gave those non-universal and potentially less lucrative tribute songs his best melodies and music. Therefore, Beny More loved Cuba. With that in mind, let's take a tour of Cuba with Beny as our guide. You can get the albums below. All aboard the Guagua (autobus for my non-Cuban brothers): => Read more!

Mark Cuban calls Bill O’Reilly a moron at BlogWorld
The closing keynote speaker at BlogWorld was Mark Cuban. He was speaking to the audience about his blog; and how important it is to share ideas, thoughts, etc. with his readers. He then went on a rant about how others in the media attack him and call him names; and then went to say how important it is not to respond. He then called Mr. Bill O’Reilly a Moron for his comments about Cuban, who financially backed the controversial film “Redacted” which is story about the war in Iraq that depicts the real-life rape and killing of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl by U.S. soldiers. And of course…the crowd erupted in applause.  Technorati Tags: blogworld, bill o’reilly, mark cuban, redacted Share this post

Anti-Cuban bigotry mars Blogworld Expo in Las Vegas
A representative of the Cuban Bloggers Group charged Blogworld Expo with racism today after organizers shut down the group's cockfight arena in the Las Vegas Convention Center parking structure. Spokesman Nelson Guirado: I wanted to give my fellow blogosphere denizens a taste of traditional Cuban culture. We didn't have money for a Salsa band and our booth's dimensions made baseball impractical so Miguelito, my compay, went to his cousin's house in the Pahrump valley and picked up a couple of gallos. The first fight was only halfway done when the Blogworld goon squad came and shut us down- something about this activity being illegal (I still don't know what they meant; we weren't betting with money.). For the rest of the day, we just sat around and played dominoes which resulted in the lightest attended display at the convention. Because of their anti-Cuban bigotry, the CBG is boycotting next year's convention. We're also suing the PETA bloggers for spraying us with fake b

      Cuban Mojo Pork Tenderloin
This pork is g.o.o.d! I marinated the tenderloin for 24 hours and the flavor and the tenderness was awesome.Very citrusy and garlicky! My family loved it.This is a very easy dish to prepare.Just make the marinade (which only takes a few minutes) and transfer to a foil lined dish and bake.Easy.The rum in this dish is optional, but I think it is a key ingredient in the marinade.I made Cuban black beans and rice as a side and made a big crusty loaf of bread.I will definitely be making this again. My batteries were dead in my camera when I went to take a picture, so there is not a picture of tonight's dinner. The batteries are recharging now :( I will take better notice of my battery power in the future!Cuban Mojo Pork Tenderloincourtesy of cooks.com3lb pork tenderloin1/2 cup fresh orange juice1/3 cup fresh lime juice (@ 2 limes)1/4 cup dark rum (optional)5 minced cloves of garlic2 tsp oregano2 tsp cumin2 tsp salt1 bay leaf1/2 tsp ground black pepperCombine all ingredients except pork and po

Mark Cuban: Owning & Bleeding Cubbie Blue?
Baseball might have a new member of the small fraternity of owners – Mark CubanAlthough Cuban is widely known as being the larger-than-life, loud and opinionate owner of the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA, he wants to bleed Cubbie Blue and make his mark known in baseball. From the AP: “Everybody thinks I'm going to be on the sidelines, in the dugout, jumping up and down. That's not where I'll be," he said on the Mike North Morning Show on radio station WSCR. "When I went to the Cubs game a couple weeks ago, I sat in the bleachers, and I'll have a seat marked out for me and my friends. We'll be out in the right-field bleachers -- that's the best place to watch a game." Tribune Co. announced six months ago that it would sell the club after the season in connection with an $8.2 billion buyout of the media conglomerate led by real estate magnate Sam Zell. But the process has moved slowly and many don't expect a sale to be completed until well into 2008. Cuban said he hasn't made a
