when the summer weather doesn't appear as hoped for, one has to make do with creating their own taste of summer and this is where the idea for these cupcakes came. i love rhubarb...my grandma used to make rhubarb pie when i was younger and home in Ireland for summer holidays and we'd eat big slices of it with fresh cream or ice-cream and i just loved the tartness of the rhubarb with the sweetness
My dessert obsessed father was at it again today; he just couldn't resist this berry crumble recipe he found in the New York Times. He used fresh strawberries, blueberries, and some of our frozen boysenberries. Our boysenberries tend to be pretty tart, so with the 3 Tbsp of sugar, the crumble ended up rather tart. Perfect for my dad and me, but my mother complained ("why can't you make it the way

Ah... Hadn't updated for so long. You must be wondering whether I even remembered this blog existed. T-TI've been overloaded by mounds of coursework to do and lectures to go through. Imagine us, 20-something-year olds, in the most exciting phase of our l-i-f-e, having to wake up at 7.30am, get ourselves to the lecture halls at 8.30am, spend a horrible 4 hours there, then have a lunch break for an hour, and continuing the torture for another 5 hours till 6.15pm. I mean, yeah, gaining knowledge is important for our field. But do you notice how this regime is going to churn out eye-ringed, sallow-faced, shaky-kneed individuals, claiming to be pharmacists? I don't see where this will get us. T-TOk lah. Enough of my grumblings. I shall now feed you with sweetums. :P I've been making apple crumb

"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking successive autumns."George EliotSugar & spice & 'FALL' things nice...that's what I'm made up of!Cinnamon scrolls...adding flavour to the Crumble!A twist to the regular crumble to make it healthier. I have substituted the butter for margarine, and lightly toasted (or roasted) the oats to bring out the crunch and flavour. Apples, cinnamon & walnuts bring out quite the best in each other...as far as taste, colour and warmth go. The only thing missing are the twirling leaves when the south wind blows!! Guess we can sit amidst them & savour the crumble. This is my entry for 3 blog events this Fall...Blog or Bust #3! where 'The Clumsy Cook' asks a healthy “Fall” dish...'something comfortable, something cozy, something hearty'.HotM 8 where Joanna at 'The Heart of the Matter' is looking for 'heart-healthy baking recipes'....that means 'NO butter and not much
Rhubarb is a vegetable that grows like a weed here in Alaska and having two large rhubarb plants in my backyard I'm always looking for things to do with the sour stalks. This is a really wonderful recipe that turns out a moist and sweet cake that is great not only as a dessert but as a good breakfast coffee cake. You can bake this in a greased springform pan and it makes a slightly shallow cake or you can double the recipe (as I do) and plump up your cake a bit and use the extra for individual servings in cute little ramekins (that's a word Andrew doesn't even know exists: ramekins). But if you do, don't forget to adjust the cooking times accordingly.1 1/2 cups sugar, divided3 tablespoons corn starch3 cups rhubarb, finely chopped3/4 cup milk1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour3/4 cup butter1/2 teaspoon baking soda1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped1 beaten eggPreheat oven to 350 degrees, Combine 3/4 cup sugar and corn starch in a medium s
Blackberry and Apple Crumble43cm x 63cm 17in x 25inWatercolour.This is the first of a small series of “pudding paintings”, large watercolours about food. I don’t cook much, David is the chef in our house, but I really enjoy making deserts, or a goodly pudding. So here is an early autumn favorite, blackberry and apple crumble. There was a full moon last night so it is a pudding by the light of the silvery moon.I would be interested to know what you think of this one as I have been working on my watercolours, trying to push them forwards and I find other peoples opinions very useful. I quite fancy a cookbook illustrated with paintings like this and full of our favorite recipes. These painting are for sale. Each painting is:305pounds (UK) 615dollars (USA) and 450euros (Europe). This includes the postage.
Growing up, we always had fresh cookies in the house.
I don’t know how she did it, with three kids and a workaholic husband, but somehow my mom always managed to have a batch of her homemade chocolate chip cookies in a plastic bag on the counter. I don’t ever remember seeing her bake them until I was well into college. She must have made them at midnight, after we were all tucked in our beds.
What can I say about Bisquick?I am by no means a baker and Bisquick has been my lifesaver over the years. My husband and boys love desserts and so many nights they eat icecream because I just don't care to bake. But I do have a few Bisquick recipes that I use that keep them happy. This is one of their faves. Extremely easy.I always have a huge box in the house and it saves me lots of time.I have other recipes from their boxes and website that I will definitely share with you in the future.I have only used cherry pie filling and blueberry pie filling in this particular recipe, but I am sure you could use any pie filling you choose. And in my house it is easy cleanup because there is never any left over. The picture I took is of the not quite finished product. It still needed about 10 more minutes to bake, but I snapped a pic anyway because I was headed out the door and knew that when I got back it would be gone! What is wrong with Roger Penske's NASCAR operation?
Toyota has the excuse that it's new to the game. But Penske and his men have been in NASCAR since the early 1970s, with some of the biggest names...
This is just a glace at the posting. Please visit my site to read it all. Alot of information about Ryan Newman and Nascar in general is located there.
The unbeaten run is over. The play-off push is on hold. The Alex have been brought back down to earth - with a bang! Scunthorpe were, quite simply, quicker, better, more effective and more ruthless than Crewe Alexandra. That's why they're top of the league. We looked OK, grabbed a decent goal but failed to build upon the lead. Scunthorpe's front men, including the prolific Billy Sharpe, looked alive, hungry, willing and capable. Sharpe scored twice as the league leaders deservedly stormed to a 3-1 win to cement their place at the top of League One. The Alex were a very average second best, never really in the race. A disallowed goal, a couple of free-kicks (one of them pictured above) should have seen us challenge in the second half, but the Irons had a clever game plan. Perhaps it has proved to some of the dreamers (myself included) that we still have a long, long way to go. Promotion is still a pipe dream. Until Saturday...

and is especially popular amongst the robins ...
