polar bears & sea lions swimming underwater. A new exhibit is being
developed that will feature a “lodge” like the Old Faithful Inn which
will open in 2009, followed by anoher one within a year.
The zoo's newest exhibit, which opened in 2006, is Northwest Passage.

Off-season travel is decidedly not for everybody. Some people crave the crowds, the perfect weather and in some locales, the “scene”. If you’ve traveled to Aspen or St. Barts for New Year’s Eve or the South of France in July, these tips are not for you. For everyone else, read on.

Kate and I went to the SLC Art’s Festival with some friends. By far the best part of the festival was 3 sweet sweet pounds of deep fried glory. I’m so glad potatoes are vegetables. Well we went into the festival thinking it would be more of an art show then an art shopping mall, [...]

The onslaught of cars rolling into movie theaters this summer isn’t the cartoon kind. Rather, it’s an advertising barrage from automakers trying to get at the blockbuster crowd and driving double-digit segment growth in the medium.
With the hot summer-movie season around the corner, automakers are upping the ante for movie-theater advertising. Screenvision’s revenue in the segment for the first half of 2008 is almost double what it was in the first half of 2007, said exec VP-sales and marketing Mike Chico, who said he expects to sell out 2008 inventory in the third quarter, which is unusual.
National CineMedia’s Cliff Marks, CMO and president of sales, said his ad revenue in the segment is up by a double-digit percentage for the same period.
In May or June, consumer
I had the opportunity to speak to several dozen “suburbanites” and visitors over the weekend. I didn’t have to go very far to find them. They were among the 10’s of thousands of people who were downtown on Friday Night and all day Saturday. SIX simoultaneous events drew huge crowds. First Friday, as always coincided this [...]

Barack Obama played to the biggest crowd of his campaign thus far, in his visit to Philadelphia, just days ahead of the crucial Pennsylvania Primary.Over 35,000 people turned out to hear Obama speak at the Independence Visitor Center, a number which far exceeded the 30,000 who came to him and Oprah Winfrey in December in South Carolina.Polls have shown Obama closing on Hillary Clinton, even after the much publicised bitter comments by Obama last week, and the tough debate conducted by ABC.Obama spent at least some of his speech on Hillary Clinton, effectively labelling her a political opportunist."She's taken more money from Washington lobbyists than any other candidate in this race, even John McCain, because she says that lobbyists represent real Americans" he said. "She's taken a differe

Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory is without doubt one of the most popular tourist attractions in Australia and is a must see for anyone travelling to Australia's tropical regions. Nowhere else in northern Australia will you be able to gain the same appreciation and understanding of tropical habitats, see as much wildlife, learn about Aboriginal culture, see ancient rock art, climb and swim at spectacular waterfalls and, and, and... - Almost 20,000 square kilometres (3.2 million acres) in size - the same size as Denmark or Ireland! - the park is the only one in the world to protect the entire catchment area of a major river system, the South Alligator River. - The habitats range from the high stone plateau to forest woodland, from monsoon rainforest to open savannah-like flood
If you were clever and in Wellington, New Zealand, you could have made two events scheduled for the same time last night. Kelly Thompson, the first New Zealander to shoot a retail Lucire cover, had an illustration exhibition opening at Good as Gold on Victoria Street (on till the end of December). Last night she already managed to sell 13 of her works.
Zambesi, meanwhile, launched the Samsung U700v cellphone at its Wellington store, following a similar launch in Auckland at Vulcan Lane.
When I left Kelly’s opening for Zambesi, I noticed she was attracting a more arty crowd, while Zambesi got in fashionistas and a selection of customers, with four models (two friends, Sarah Garlick and Cadbury Dream Model Search ’07 finalist Jordan James among them) walking about talking up the ‘Zambesi presents Samsung U700v’ phone. For the Findlays, four members of the family had come from Auckland to attend, including Marissa Findlay, whose photographic work appeared in Lucire
By: csteele It appears people were out in record numbers for the black friday sales. It seemed like shoppers came out of nowhereto jam the malls and discount stores. Recently people were worried about the high gas prices and retailers weren'tsure if they would have the numbers for their sales. The sales tactics seemed to have worked by opening at midnight, offering bigger discount and special discount for the predawn openings. It seemed once again that the nintendo wii was on top of the list once again. The associated press even reported that there were those that camped out at 3am outside electronics stores hoping to find a bargain. I still feel that buying the nintendo wii online is the best way to ensure that you get one this year. I have to admit I did go for some of the predawn sales, but most of all my shopping has been done online. Shopping online is just far more convenient. You don't have the crowds and you can do it from home and most of the time you get better selections. T
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has decided go for a full-fledged drive by involving ex-players, organisers and the clubs of the capital to make its fund raising charity matches successful.Abahani and Mohammedan will be involved in a charity series of three-matches in Dhaka on December 3rd, 5th and 7th, to raise funds for the victims of cyclone Sidr. Both the clubs have extended their full support to the BFF for this cause. The first meeting of the 21-member committee formed for the series was held yesterday at the BFF Bhaban with co-chairman and Mohammedan secretary Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan in chair."We have agreed to work hard to make it a success," said BFF acting general secretary and member-secretary of the committee Manzoor Hossain Malu."We want every match to be a full-house and want to involve players, organisers and the other clubs apart from Abahani and Mohammedan to work with us."We will emphasise on ticket sales and our target is to make some pushing-sell," Malu added
After many warnings to end the demonstrations it has been reported that soldiers have fired directly into the crowds of protesters. The drama has been captured by news teams across the globe and shows hundreds of demonstrators fleeing baton-wielding soldiers underneath clouds of tear gas.
It has been suggested that 70,000 protesters were on the streets of Burma’s biggest city, although there were less today due to over night arrests. Among the fatalities of the shootings was a foreign photographer, who was believed to be Japanese. There have been several other reports of people dead.
The military had previously warned it would shoot demonstrators if they did not disperse and unfortunately they didn’t take the warnings seriously.
The United Nations’ Security Council had urged Burma’s military government yesterday to exercise restraint towards peaceful protesters. Condoleeza Rice, US Secretary of State has called the situation in Burma a ‘tragedy’ and said

With a population sweltering over 12 million, Seoul is a very crowded city. Navigating the sidewalks in Seoul can be treacherous (scooters, cars, ajummas, ajoshis, buses, kids, bikes, taxis, construction, brick sidewalks with missing bricks, etc), especially when it's jam packed and there are sellers lined up and down the street (let's not forget about those Ludacris-inspired ajummas who like to "throw dem bows"). Well, one day in busy Gangnam (fashion central) I decided to try something special. How was I going to walk through crowds in Seoul without getting bumped and bruised?Well, the answer is to hold your girlfriend's purse/handbag in front of you while you're walking (and looking like a Korean mental patient in the process) through crowds. It's just absolute magic how people avoid you like the plague! My Korean friend Tae told me not to go through with this idea, but I did anyways. He's the one holding the camera filming me. Here we go! (this video is being hos
On a long weekend in summer, Ontario's famed Algonquin Provincial Park hosts about 25,000 campers -- about the same number as Mississagi Provincial Park receives all year. The difference is largely a matter of longitude. The further north you travel, the fewer people you're likely to run into. If you are planning a camping trip this year, here's a list of Northern Ontario's family friendly provincial parks.

A Chinese man is attracting the crowds by writing with his tongue. Zhang Yongyang, 24, of Xi’an city, only recently discovered his ability to touch his nose with his tongue and thought he would try and put the unusual skill to good use.
"I thought, since my tongue is very agile, why not let it write characters the way hands do? I want to develop my own special calligraphy," he said.
Zhang has been demonstrating his new skills on the sidewalk of Xinmin street, to a lot of attention and applause, reports Sanqin City News.

Your Monday Photo Shoot: Get a picture of a crowd or crowded event. Conventions, weddings, parties in cramped spaces -- you know, anywhere there's lots of folks doing something.
A crowd? Well, how does a quarter of a million people sound to you? That is how many people are in the stands and in the infield for the Daytona 500 (held in February) or the Pepsi 400 (held in July). And no, that's not

We moved away from California soon after BabyGirl was born. We were ready to settle down in the midwest or the South to raise our children and get closer to family. Oddly enough we've never gotten back to California to visit even though we've talked about it for the past 10 years. We've been discussing taking a trip out there next summer. We'd like to show BabyGirl where she was born and the homes and apartments we used to live in as well as show the kids Los Angeles, my husbands old school in Hollywood, and of course hit the amusement parks! The thing is, we aren't touristy 'crowd' people so the thought of a busy hotel in Anaheim just isn't high on our list of priorities. Luckily there are options... how about a quiet lake front home in the mountains? I've been surfing some properties and found a few Big Bear Lake vacation rentals that are family friendly and offer the quiet and beauty that California has to offer when we are ready to leave Hollywood and Disney behind at
‘Link Bait’ is exactly what it appears to be - something interesting on your website that acts as ‘bait’ and makes people want to link to it from blogs or other websites. In the search for an ever greater number of quality, relevant, inbound links, this strategy can be an absolute winner.
Like nearly everthing else concerned with search engine optimisation, link baiting relies on a website having great and relevant content. So what types of things can be link bait ? The answer can be anything from a market research report available in PDF format to a must have podcast. Put simply - anything that is really useful informative content, as this is always king with SEO.
