The New York Daily News crossed the privacy line when it published a picture of an ambushed Cynthia Rodriquez exiting the hospital upon her release after giving birth to a baby girl. This is absolutely disrespectful to the Rodriguez family and violates their right to privacy. The picture (which I will not post) shows Cynthia in a wheel chair using her body to cover up her newborn, shielding her from a scum photographer. Despite Potty Humor, ‘CJ7’ Crosses Into Cliché to Reveal Alien Lassie
CHICAGO – Stephen Chow, who directed “Shaolin Soccer” and “Kung Fu Hustle,” brings us his latest eccentricity in the form of the kid-oriented film “CJ7”. Slapstick antics, sarcastic humor and excessively absurd characters are simply a few of Chow’s cinematic trademarks and “CJ7” is no exception to his design. This sci-fi tale of whimsy takes place in Hong Kong with Ti (played by Stephen Chow) as the single father trying to properly raise his son, Dicky (played by Jiao Xu), on the wages of a construction worker. The film begins by exploiting the poverty Dicky and Ti live in by showing Dicky’s worn-out shoes and dirty clothing. Dicky’s desire to assimilate to school fashions and to possess toys like his schoolmates is overwhelming and his father struggles throughout t

No More Crosses For Spokane Police Chaplains
According to The Christian Post (yes, I do get all my news from this source), police chaplains in Spokane, WA, are going to have to remove the crosses from their badges to settle a lawsuit filed by Ray Ideus, a Christian pastor for 30 years who is now an atheist. Lest the right-wing lunatic fringe do more sniveling about "whiny atheists," I think it is important to be clear about why it is necessary to remove the crosses. It should be noted at the outset that no court is ordering the removal. The city is agreeing to do so as part of an out-of-court settlement. Thus, ranting about "activist judges" would be misplaced here.So why would an atheist file suit over the crosses?Ray Ideus, a former Lutheran pastor of 30 years, claimed in his suit that the Christian-Latin cross included on the badges worn by chaplains in the Spokane Police Department is an "impermissible incorporation of a particular religious symbol in a government insignia."By including crosses on the badges of police chaplain

Olive Wood Crosses of Jerusalem The olive tree is traditionally a symbol of health and peace. The Olive Wood of Jerusalem is the symbol of Eternal Life and it is well known since ancient time. According to religion believe Jesus prayed in Gethsemane, near Jerusalem near an olive tree, some says that this tree still exists today. The Olive Tree grows in the Holy Land and can survive for up to 2000 years. In the Bible, Noah sent out a dove from the ark to find dry land and the dove returned with an Olive branch. It is said that the Dove is the symbol of the Holy Spirit. The Olive tree has been highly admired since old times and it is considered as a blessed tree. The people planted olive trees in various parts of the Holy Land to spread its cultivation. The oil from the olives was used to anoint priests, prophets and kings to empower them as well as to pray for their healing. While known for its sturdiness, it is a beautiful wood with grai

      Crosses Everywhere
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.Matthew 16:24The hope of my life you are. The love of my life you are. Oh, the wonderful cross. Would I embrace my cross or run away? I stared at the cross in the reflection in the dresser mirror. The depth of the cross seemed to sink into the mirror infinitely. This was brought to my attention by a sweet, little innocent child. You can find crosses everywhere if you just look. God's constant reminder of His presence."Daddy, do you see the cross in the mirror?" she inquired. The deep blue eyes staring up at me waiting on a response. Shaking my head I looked back at my daughter. I didn't see anything. "Look one more time," she begged with a look of belief. "Alright, but this is the last time," was my reply. As I stared into the mirror I thought of this week and the events preceding it. The Vacation Bible School that week and how excited she was about Jesus. Her

Last Night's Dream: Crosses and Flags Everywhere
I had one of the strangest dreams I've had in awhile last night, waking up this morning in the midst of it and taking a few moments to realize it had been a dream. The part I remember was that my entire neighborhood, including my own front yard, had been filled with hundreds of small white crosses and small American flags. They were everywhere, filling every yard up and down my street. Nobody else was around, and I was standing on my driveway, surveying this act of vandalism which I assumed had been the organized effort of a fundamentalist church. I felt both anxious and angry - mostly angry.Dreams are an odd beast, and I'm not particularly keen on dream interpretation. Insisting that dreams have some kind of prophetic meaning or that they reveal one's unconscious desires (Freud) holds little appeal for me. Scientific research has shown that dreams often incorporate stimuli present during sleep (e.g., external sounds, etc.) or material experienced by the dreamer during that day. In

Dow Crosses 13,100 and Most Stocks End Negative
On Thursday, market averages continued to trend up, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average ending at 13,105.50, or up $15.61. While the move to 13,100 has been quick and painless, most stocks on the NYSE ended in negative territory. Investors should begin to see a bearish, overvalued sentiment to the market, and a possible minor correction/sell off to transpire. Despite gains out of about the last 16 of 17 trading days on the Dow Jones, a number of stocks haven’t followed the record rally. Only 13 of 30 of the Dow Jones Industrial Average stocks finished in positive territory. Markets were buoyed by shares in 3M Co. (MMM), 4.52 percent, and General Motors (GM), up 4.44 percent. Otherwise, the continued rally wasn’t shared with the rest of the exchanges. It’s worth noting that Quiksilver (ZQK) is still the summer stock pick. With a reasonable P/E and positive future growth, the stock should be free to trend up during a heightened summer season. Learn more about Quiksilv

      Crosses and Shrines
When you start to explore the area around Cesky Krumlov, one of the things that strikes you as a protestant Brit is the number of wayside shrines and crosses. Although you will find them in the centre of villages, these crosses are not just in the places you would expect but also in the middle of fields and on footpaths through forests. They mark old trails and processional routes. They are a sign of the country's devout Catholic past, but in some places, as in England , these crosses are sited on older pre-Christian religious sites. If you are interested in identifying the sites of such shrines, you can find them on the large-scale maps. But there are not as many shrines and crosses as there once were. Under the Communists many crosses were desecrated and destroyed. Some Czechs sought to save the crosses from destruction, removing the metal Christ figures and putting them into storage. Some friends invited us to a mill they have near Cesky Krumlov - there in the yard was a pile of Chr

The appeal, filed by Travis Childs and his mother, points out that Iowa law allows what happened in October. An Eldridge mother maintains she did the right thing last fall when she allowed her teenage son to drink beer at home with his stepfather. She said the family's openness about alcohol is the reason he doesn't sneak around to drink."It was in our home. He was not caught doing anything that he shouldn't have been doing," Tisha Bousselot said. "That's not to say we accept it, but I'd rather have my son alive and watch him wrestle for a wonderful university next year than to put him in the ground."But North Scott school officials benched Travis Childs, 18, for the "three or four beers" he drank with his stepfather on Oct. 25. British Airways stepped down over suspending a worker for wearing a cross and a Yorkshire teaching assistant who wears the niqab has been sacked. For those of you who missed the debate, Nadia Eweida had refused to return to work at the check-in desk at Heathrow airport since British Airways bosses told her last month she could not wear a necklace bearing a small cross over her uniform. She was asked to conceal the cross underneath the uniform cravat but refused on the grounds that she did not see why she should hide her faith. She was offered a choice between suspension on paid leave, which she feared would be an admission that she had done something wrong, or unpaid leave pending disciplinary action, and she chose the latter.British Airways denied it had b
