The word Crock-Pot is actually trademarked by Rival Industries, but is used in every day conversations instead of the term slow cooker. Many recipes for the crock-pot require little preparation. The slow cooker can then safely be left to run unattended, making it a convenient cooking method. Crock-pot meals can not only save you time in the kitchen, but they can also save you money as well. The reasons are as follows: 1. It keeps you out of the fast food line. If you had not loading up the crock-pot with the ingredients this morning you’d likely be in the drive through line at the local fast food restaurant this afternoon after work, grabbing a meal fo

I was able to get some rib-eye steaks on sale for next to nothing the other day, but didn't quite know what to do with them.  Rib-eye is divine when roasted and sliced, but the steaks can be tough as they can't be cooked long enough to melt all the fat... or can they? Enter crock pot.  I love a French Dip sandwich with that little pot of jus  (hehe... I always love how they say French Dip Sandwich with au jus on menus, slight bit redundant maybe???) with the caramelized onions draped over succulent tender steak adorning a crusty buttery roll. So I thought I could try a crock pot version. Paul was even dubious when he saw it on his plate, but he tried it and didn't speak an entire word until his plate wa

Seven Tips For Using Your Crock Pot to Make Your Best Roast Ever - By Eldon Beard
By Eldon Beard For busy cooks wanting to prepare a tasty and healthful meal, with minimal preparation time, a roast prepared in your crock pot with vegetables is hard to beat! After a few minutes preparation, you simply flip on your crock pot and about 12 hours later, you have a delicious meal. The best part is that this hearty meal cooks, without you having to tend to it, while you work or sleep. Following are seven tips for preparing the perfect roast in your crock pot. Tip One - choose a good quality cut (eye of round is my favorite, and rump roast is also good). A great thing about preparing roast in the crock pot is that you can use cheaper cuts and they will come out very tender due to the long cooking time. Whatever type of roast you choose, be sure to trim any excessive fat that is present on the sides or bottom of the roast. Tip Two - many people like to brown their roast in a skillet before adding it to the crock pot. This adds flavor and enhances the appearance of the co

Crock Pot Recipe for Creamy Seafood Chowder
I see myself as a fairly good cook. I can make something without a recipe, create my own recipes, and alter any recipes I have to fit my family's tastes. However, for some reason I never ventured to create a "clam chowder" type recipe. This is truly strange considering every time I go to a restaurant and they offer clam chowder, I order it. I love clam or creamy seafood chowder, and often when I love a recipe I am anxious to try it. But again, for some reason I would shy away from trying this. Perhaps part of the fear came from creating the cream base or cooking with clams. I'm not really sure, but I finally overcame the fear by cheating.I know that we always teach our children not to cheat, but I have to admit that cheating in cooking is sometimes a wonderful thing. By cheating with this recipe, I've created the seafood chowder I love without a lot of preparation and hassle (and added a few extra twists). Enjoy!2 cans cream of chicken soup2 cans cream of potato soup1 tsp garl
