  A nice quiet week is being enjoyed in Gibsons, British Columbia. Lovely little town with friendly folk who have very sociable dogs - my kinda town! But I think the prize has to go to the gorgeous purple starfish - definitely a differentiator!

Lillian's kindergarten teacher is pretty amazing. It's only a half-day program but she holds regular Drama Club and Science Club activities on her lunch hour.She even makes certificates up for the children when they complete various units in school--units on whales, dinosaurs, space, whales, etc.--which say, "I'm a penguin expert" or something equally cute and then she makes up these little critters to staple to the certificates.It finally dawned on me what to do with them all--I bought hair clips and glued them to the back of the felt so Lillian can wear them in her hair.They're just adorable as hair clips and I think I scored points with Mrs. Nishimura for my creativity--I'm hoping it will be the extra credit I need to pull off an A in her class.David, however, scored very few points th

What is the allure of these pants? They're again showing up in every catalog for spring. No, not the movie (which I really liked when I was twelve), but the on-line writers' workshop.It's a ginormous group of people interested in publishing science fiction, fantasy, and horror. They submit their own work and critique each others' and a rather ingenious system keeps it running smooth. I can't tell you about what I'm critiquing or submitting because there's a strict privacy policy (as this is all unpublished work), but I can say I'm impressed with the whole thing and how it's run, and it has recommendations from good sources. Some members are even professionals.If you need a good writers' group that focuses on critiquing work and making it better, you might want to sign up. I guess you could say my daughter is becoming quite spoiled. Now, that I am adding all these new products to my shop I always make sure to set one aside for her. Not only to have my built in product tester, but often when a new shipment arrives she immediately thinks it's something for her. The Jim Henson Company is releasing a line of vinyl toys called “Jim Henson’s City Critters”.  These toys are based on some of Jim Henson’s sketches and doodles for various Muppet creations.  Although none of these really came to life as Muppets, you can definately see Muppet elements in all of them.
