Texas Supreme Court candidate Judge Susan Criss, D-Galveston, who helped create a video that encourages minority students to become attorneys and judges, is calling on the University of Texas System and state lawmakers to build a UT law school in the predominantly Hispanic Lower Rio Grande Valley.
Criss, a veteran district judge and former prosecutor, was executive producer in 2003 and 2004 for the video, “The Color of Justice,” a 12-minute film that encourages Texas high school students to study hard, go to college, and consider law as a career.

Criss Angel es un ilusionista de primera categoría y en algunos de sus trucos he intuído cómo lo ha podido hacer (en otros ni de coña) pero siempre me he quedado con la duda. Aunque no me guste mucho (se pierde la ilusión) aquí van algunos vídeos de gente explicando sus trucos. La verdad es que se asemejan a lo que pensé yo... Aquí tienen cómo desaparecer una mesa, cómo atravesar un cristal, como librarse de una cadena, cómo levitar, cómo caminar sobre el agua y cómo romper una guía telefónica de una forma sencilla. ¡Muy curioso!

State District Judge Susan Criss (D-Galveston), running for Place 8 on the Texas Supreme Court, is publicly encouraging appellate justice Linda Yanez–who is currently poised for a primary race against Criss–to pursue another seat on the state’s highest court, according to a press release from Legislative Media:

I remember making this recipe for peanut butter cookies with my mom when I was a kid. I loved to press down on the dough with a fork after she rolled them. More than a decade passed before I tried making them again when I was in college. My dad had recently bought me my own mixmaster electric mixer, similar to my mom’s Sunbeam mixmaster. Although my new Sunbeam mixer now had a light bulb to illuminate the bowl, the body was entirely plastic and the power was definitely not the same. It worked fine for all my other baking needs until I made this recipe, which resulted in smoke pouring out the back of the mixer. It still worked afterwards, but it was never the same and would stutter at lower speeds. In the mixer’s defense I will admit that I had used hydrogenated peanut butter, which is considerably thicker than real peanut butter. Although I now have a wonderful 75th anniversary KitchenAid stand mixer, I still have to recommend you choose your peanut butter wisely.
