Just that those of you who have been asking for JJ-centric storylines are going to be quite happy with the third episode back.
I had to mention this episode of CRIMINAL MINDS “True Night” just for the fact that Frankie Muniz guest stars. Especially since I just mentioned that Malcolm in the Middle was my #5 all time TV show.
I have been watching Criminal Minds for the last two weeks - two weeks ago because I wanted to see the transition from Gideon (Mandy Patinkin) and Rossi (Joe Mantegna) and then last week to find out what happened to Garcia. This week I’m going to watch it again 1) because Frankie Muniz guest stars 2) I have been enjoying the last two episodes. Seriously, I forgot how good this show is.
If you are into the whole psychological aspect of criminals, Criminal Minds is a very interesting show to watch. That’s what makes it different from all the other procedural shows. This one is absolutely the best procedural show for me.

So I’ll be doing the Procedural Update for CBS’CRIMINAL MINDS “Lucky” this week because Eric was unavailable (how dare he have another life besides Daemon’s TV, right?). Anyway, it’s not all bad because I got to watch a pretty awesome episode of Criminal Minds. I used to watch it every week, but the subject matter got to me after a while. Still I do enjoy it once in a while and “Lucky” was one of the better episodes I have seen from the show.

Gideon is out, Rossi is in - This is the first episode I see with Gideon’s (Mandy Patinkin) replacement Rossi (Joe Mantegna). First I have to mention that the initial reason I was interested in watching Criminal Minds was because of Mandy Patinkin, so it’s harder for me to accept a replacement for him.
What’s the verdict on Joe Mantegna? Well, one thing’s for sure, Rossi is no Gideon. That is not to say Joe Mantegna is not a wonderful actor
CRIMINAL MINDS never ceases to amazes me. Every time I think that there are no new depths in the human depravity, the writers manage to find new ways of horrifying us. Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not saying it is a bad thing; it makes for very entertaining TV. But still, I wonder how far they can go.
On a different note, I am still hoping that Gideon’s replacement David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) starts showing his stuff because so far I am not very impressed. He does not have Gideon’s Gravitas and seems out of sync with the team. Gideon was more of a father figure whereas Rossi is more of a distant uncle that you feel awkward around.

Joe Mantegna will fill the vacancy left by Mandy Patinkin on “Criminal Minds.”While CBS and the show’s producers (CBS Par Television and ABC Studios) wouldn’t comment, “Minds” showrunner Ed Bernero confirmed the casting over the weekend on the Criminal Minds Fanatic blog. Details of the new character and when Mantegna will make his debut weren’t immediately available.
I think this is a good choice for the show. Joe Mantegna is an outstanding actor and I think he will fit in with the ensemble cast quite well. Mandy Patinkin is a great actor as well, but it appears that he may be difficult to work with. This isn’t the first time he abruptly left a television show in which he was a main character.
Criminal Minds has taken some interesting turns over the run. It started out totally focusing on Gideon, Patinkin’s character, but has slowly made the “supporting cast” main characters in the story lines. This is probably going
CRIMINAL MINDS has finally found its replacement. Joe Mantegna (Joan of Arcadia, The Starter Wife) will be taking over for Mandy Patinkin. No details were released about the new character and when he will be making its first appearance yet.
I like Joe Mantegna as an actor, but I am still afraid that Mandy Patinkin’s shoes are going to be hard to fill. I am curious to see how they will introduce the new character though, and will probably tune in for a few episodes this fall.
