Orissa artist carves Jesus Christ on sand

Puri (Orissa), Dec 24: As the world was readying to celebrate Christmas, internationally acclaimed sand artist from Orissa Sudarsan Pattnaik carved an impressive image of Jesus Christ on the sandy beaches of this holy town on Monday.
Pattnaik created the 22 ft high sand sculpture, which he claimed to be the world’s biggest Jesus Christ on sand, by using 600 tonnes of sand. It took 25 hours for him to complete the work.
The artist also carved sand images of Santa Claus and Mother Mary near the sculpture of Lord Jesus.
While Pattnaik created the sculpture of Jesus with plain sand, he used colours in the images of Santa Claus and Mother Mary holding baby Jesus.
Around 15 students, including seven girls, from Golden Sand Art Institute that Pattnaik runs on the Puri beach assisted him in creating the sand sculptures.

We have "solved" another problem by doing it the Singaporean way, this time through a massive taxi fare hike. The so-called "in-depth review" of the taxi industry to address taxi passengers' concerns is, in my own words, a world-class flop. First, the peak hour surcharge of $2 has been replaced by a variable 35% surcharge of metered fare. With the change, technically only trips with taxi metered fares of around $6 will not see any peak hour surcharge hike. A new manufacturing technique has been developed by Oki which claims to make it possible to make camera modules for mobile phones smaller still! The company has started a contract assembly service for W-CSP (Wafer level Chip Sized Package) semiconductors by using through-hole technology. This process can halve the size of conventional camera modules.
To make a camera module smaller, the image sensor needs to be miniaturized. The new W-CSP technology by Oki creates a through-hole in the silicon substrate such as an image sensor and putting an electrode through the newly made hole.
Takaki Yamada, President of the Silicon Microdevice Company at Oki has said,
“OKI is currently one of the industry’s largest-scale manufacturers of W-CSP technology, packaging LSIs of a size equivalent to the semiconductor chip itself. Based on the through-hole W-CSP technology, manufacturers can make smaller camera modules, responding to trends such as the steadily shrinking size of mobile equipment.
