Just the other day, in fact it was last weekend that me and hubby went looking for containers for my wire jewelry beads and stones. If we gather all the containers, boxes, cabinets and storage bins in the house, it will easily fill up the whole kitchen. But then, it is never enough. There are a lot more things in the house that we need to store and how I wish I have this and especially this one.

The hype over the upcoming release of the last Harry Potter book is all fun, but a Florida State University grad student is taking an academic approach to the popular series. Colette Drouillard is studying how author J.K. Rowling's series has influenced youngsters' desire to read. She's talking to readers who are now 19 to 23, and have read all the books, starting with the first volume in the late 90s. FSU professor Eliza T. Dresang notes there have been over 200 academic studies on Harry Potter, but little research has focused on what motivates youngsters to read the books so religiously. “It’s a unique opportunity to speak with readers who are now young adults and ask them to go back and try to recall when you were 9 and read the book the first time, why did you feel motivated to read Book 2, and what motivated you to continue reading,” Drouillard said.

After witnessing the recent tumblelog trend, I’ve decided to take my blogging in a direction that I’ve wanted to for a while now. I’ve stripped down my site and used quite a few homemade WordPress mods to allow myself to post very frequent short links to sites of interest. (Expect a how-to on that soon.) Nothing changes — same RSS address, archives have been carried over, in-depth write-ups will still be written, etc. Simply more content will be posted daily. Since I’ve been wanting to try this for almost a year now, I figured this is a better method than relying on a fly-by-night startup for a separate blog. (These changes may seem sudden, but this has been a side project of mine for a few months.) Feel free to let me know what you think. Since this WordPress solution is mostly homebrew, I’d love to hear any suggestions.
