She discussed the 5 ways to feed yourself what you are really hungry for. Here is a brief overview:
1. Rest – Studies show sleep deprivation = weight gain.

When you quit, driving, eating, drinking coffee or alcohol, or simply relaxing will trigger the urge, but most cravings to smoke last only three to five minutes. Then power of craving tends to decrease gradually until craving is gone. There are two ways to cope with cravings.1. Fight cravings as they come, one by one. The most effective way to do that is to interrupt your thought pattern immediately. Change your activity, do something different for a few minutes, and the craving will lose its power and be gone.2. Try a little reverse psychology - instead of fighting with the urge to smoke, relax and let the craving wash over you, and accept it as a sign of healing, which is just what it is. The urge will run its course and pass. Have some faith, and trust in the process of quitting smoking
So what can you do that will help you get through those 15 minutes?
Go brush your teeth. Making your mouth feel nice and clean is good way to keep from putting food into your mouth until the cravings pass.
Eat a pickle. This will affect the taste buds in your mouth and make whatever food you are craving go away.
Journal about it. Write down how your feeling, what has been happening that could maybe be causing your cravings.
Drink 8-10oz of water. Water can help to fill you up and if you drink enough, your craving should go away.
Go outside and go for 15 minute walk or do some ab exercises for 15 minutes…get your mind on something else.
Take a nice, hot bath and relax. Visualize your goals that you wish to achieve!

What can you do to manage your cravings, stress and avoid weight gain during this holiday season?Allow yourself to have anything and everything you want to eat, but become a great manager of the foods you choose. The food you choose does not make you fat, but the amount might! Portion Control Is KEY!Serve yourself. Take small portions, eat slowly, and pay close attention to the cues of becoming full. Enjoy seconds but keep the portions small and don't feel guilty. Refuse to overindulge. Eat nuts one at a time, eliminate some of the crust on your piece of pie, and limit how much eggnog you drink. Try a family activity or work out inside, run up and down stairs, or sneak away to the gym, even for 20 minutes!Support yourself with kind words, instead of beating yourself up. Find support from friends or start a journal to keep up with your emotions. Remember, deprivation as well as over-indulgence can sabotage any reasonable food- plan, so enjoy everything in moderation. Craving Sticky Rice. In this new feature of Dishin’ Dat, I’ll describe some of my favorite appetizers in my regular eating haunts around town.These days I no longer eat a full meal when I go out, which is 4 or 5 times per week. Dinner portions are too filling, and I find myself waddling from the table if I manage to finish my plate. When I order a full meal, I usually bring home a doggie bag. However, expensive food seldom tastes good after it’s been sitting in a fridge and reheated in a microwave, so I’ve gotten in the habit of ordering appetizers instead.My favorite appetizer restaurant of the moment is Sticky Rice on Main Street.Dahlings, the Sushi Chefs in this place are anything but Japanese. Half of them look like they graduated from some northeastern art or medical school. This week I finished his latest book, Soul Cravings. I have been turned off to McManus in the past few years. Whereas, he has written some things that have completely shaped my idea of how to live my life (Seizing your Divine Moment, An Unstoppable Force), he recent works have just been this Barbarian life stuff. Each book turned to restate what he had previously written, with the same proposals and sometimes different stories.
I was recently sent Soul Cravings and decided to give it a shot, even though Barbarian Way had left me dissapointed and felt shafted with the price of an unoriginal mini-book. I was glad the new book had nothing to do with Barbarians. I was also glad he started to write it in the style of a journal.
