Just as the Harrison Council Meeting video ended, McDonough was about to make an interesting comment...which appeared to begin to slam Hudson Sheriff
It's killing me right now.As I watched the last Harrison Council meeting video, Mayor Raymond McDonough was addressing the Harrison PBA president. He was reminding the president that he would have had the two additional men requested for the police department, and then he said this."If it weren't for the new Hudson County Sheriff, you would have had your men," McDonough said.I am going to have to call the mayor to ask him what he meant. Could it be that Juan Perez has made yet another stupid decision that has hurt the people of the county? I mean, come on. He's only been the sheriff for a grand total of about 120 days, and he's already padded the pockets of his friends and relatives by giving them prominent jobs. What could it be now that he's done?If I am able to reach McDonough over the

They called for Governor Steve Beshear to "re-invent the council by executive order."If the governor wanted to preserve CPE's authority over both the universities and the legislature it could be easily done, and at no cost to the public. His speech is titled, "U.S. Foreign Policy: Where We Go From Here." FULL TEXT TRASCRIPT follows belowWhen I was five years old, a car pulled up in front of our house in New London, Connecticut, and a Navy officer rolled down the window, and shouted at my father that the Japanese had bombed Pearl Harbor. My father immediately left for the submarine base where he was stationed. I rarely saw him again for four years. My grandfather, who commanded the fast carrier task force under Admiral Halsey, came home from the war exhausted from the burdens he had borne, and died the next day. In Vietnam, where I formed the closest friendships of my life, some of those

John McCain Boasts Anti-Russian Policies in Foreign Council Speech
Senator John McCain was recently in some hot water over his admitted lack of knowledge on matters affecting the national economy, including the housing crisis. To change the topic, Senator McCain gave what his campaign considered a major foreign policy speech at the World Affairs Council in Los Angeles this afternoon. It probably wouldn’t have [...]

Why did Terengganu’s Regency Advisory Council reject Idris Jusoh?
Well folks, I do not have the answer for you but tvPAS Dot Com released a very interesting video that might provide answers to this question yesterday. Go ahead and watch it now down below.Courtesy of tvPAS Dot ComAs you can see, the allegations thrown against Idris Jusoh were pretty serious and I don’t want to make any comments about them. One thing bothers me though, if those allegations were true, did anybody came forward and report them to the Anti Corruption Agency (ACA)?Do you folks know anything about those allegations mentioned in the video? Do share with me what you know.Hudhaifah, may Allah be pleased with him, said:I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) say: The tale-bearer will not enter Paradise.Hadith number in Sahih Muslim [Arabic only]: 151Tags: terengganu, idr

Security Council Approves New CTED Counter-Terrorism Program
The Security Council voted last week to give the UN’s Counter Terrorism Executive Directorate (CTED) a new lease on life until December 31, 2010. CTED was established in March 2004 ( UNSC Resolution 1535 ) as part of a Security Council effort to “revitalize” the work of the Counter-terrorism Committee (CTC), but has been something of a disappointment ever since. Its original mandate and work program , spelled out in 2004, called for the group to keep the CTC apprised of the steps...(read more)

Initiative Council Trying To Backdoor School Vouchers
Is the Texas High School Completion and Success Initiative Council trying to backdoor school vouchers into the landscape of public school education in Texas? It would appear that such an attempt was made, but has now been nixed (although the door may not be completely shut on the idea): A special state committee on high school dropouts on Tuesday appeared to nix the idea of a private school voucher program for those students, but left open the possibility of the state contracting with private firms to help dropouts complete their education. Before adopting its long-range plan to reduce the dropout rate and improve the college and workforce readiness of high school graduates in Texas, the nine-member state panel reacted to widespread criticism from education groups that it was opening the

Labour dismay at wasted council cash!
The backlash from the Conservative-led campaign to fight the move to unitary councils is about to hit home. As we all now know the government went with Cheshire East and West instead of staying with what we have or moving to one Cheshire authority. The court action to try and block the move cost a few quid (around £150,000 according to Labour councillors), money from the borough's coffers that was promised to the Congleton-led challenge by CNBC leader Brian Silvester..Not wanting to miss out on an opportunity, Labour leader Steve Hogben had the following to say: "This has been a shocking waste of public money. It should have been spent on improving front line services or keeping council tax down, rather than wasting hard-earned taxpayers’ cash on a doomed kamikaze mission. The only peop

Geneva, March 3, 2008 Excellencies: I am speaking on behalf of Cuba, the country who is suffering under the longest and cruellest blockade known to history; the small rebel country which is threatened with "a change of regime", never to be forgiven its noble spirit and integrity. That Cuba should be founding member of this Council is proof that, finally, reason conquers force, the defence of principles defeats power and wealth. Proof of the fact that you cannot fool all of the people, all of the time. During 2007 we concluded, in essence, the institutional building of the Human Rights Council. I

Council budget - decisions about your money!
Lot of comments, so back oop top a bit. Regular readers will know that Crewe blog gets fed various snippets of info from a number of sources. Hopefully, it's all for the longer term good of the community. Some is political point scoring, for sure, but much of it is information that should be made public. .Take some of the recent decisions made at the 2008-09 CNBC budget meeting (the snap, btw, is of the Municipal Offices off Vernon Way). Anyway, at a meeting last Wednesday the figures were discussed for the forthcoming year. Part of the process involves the other political elements offering suggestions/amendments to the ruling party's proposals. Now we're only going on what we have been told (by a Labour councillor, obviously) but it appears that some sensible alternatives were dismissed o

      More Council Budget options
Some might say that there's more enjoyment to be had from a daffodil in bloom than anything that comes out of the Municipal Buildings! Harsh, surely, but as discussed t'other day there were a few alternative 2008-09 budget suggestions thrown in by the town's Labour Group that need to be mentioned. Another bite-size chunk if you like. Although our local councillors all love eachother (honest), I suspect they might be falling out over the following a little later... .1. Labour suggested scrapping a £625,000 contingency for non-realisation of external funding. Basically, a safeguard. The opposition party also preferred to drop some repairs planned for the changing facilities at the George Playing Fields, instead going all-out and building a new and more suitable block. In addition, they want

      LSC or advisory council?
In February representatives from local school councils sued Chicago Public Schools over whether the Board of Education violated state law when it disbanded the LSCs of two high schools in 2003 and replaced them with advisory councils for each of the new, smaller schools. The issue involves transforming local school councils - which nominate and vote for candidates for principal - into advisory councils - which merely select up to three candidates who are then chosen by CEO Arne Duncan. read more

      Australian Nurse and Midwifery Council
There are many people who believe in vexatious complaints as a means of silencing doctors. In their view, only patients/relatives should have the free speech but doctors aren't entitled to it. Of course, I find that accountability is important for complainants of this sort. I am also a great believer in physics ie for each and every action, there is a equal and opposite reaction. I took particular interest of late in the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council. Many nurses who have worked in England eg in Powys are offered jobs in Australia. This may be whether they are honest or dishonest. They often leave their past behind hoping that documents within the authorities will not catch up with the relevant people in Australia. The beauty of faxes and emails and even the post is that documen
