About a year ago, the CouchSurfing Project was crippled by a massive database crash, but it's back on its feet and going strong. For those who have never heard of Couch Surfing, the term was reinvented a few years back and is the next generation's concept of freeloading. The project began after Casey Fenton, a computer programmer got a cheap ticket to Iceland and came up short on accomodations. Kids started school. My little guy wanted to run through the sprinkler and I was happy to let him so I could finish reading the book I’d been working on. Kids came home from school just as I was trying to respond to a friend’s email when I was supposed to be getting ready for work. Got to work half a beat late. Did the stressful thing that goes along with my new job and then I went home, packed lunches, washed dishes, started laundry, got very annoyed with video game playing husband.

Any time I get frustrated with how something works in my day-to-day life I start thinking about how some day, years from now, I won’t be afflicted by this incessant inconvenience. Television and online video watching is high on the list of things that can (and will) be done drastically better some day.
