Strolling through Winecask Wine Store in Santa Barbara we saw a bottle of the Stone Corral Vineyard 2005 Edna Valley Pinot Noir produced by Talley Vineyards. We have enjoyed several vintages of their Rincon Vineyard and Rosemary Vineyard Pinot Noir, and having heard about the newer Stone Corral Vineyard, but never tasted it, we just had to give it a try. At $55 a bottle we saved it for enjoyment with a Saturday night dinner.This wine has a clear, dark garnet color in the glass.The nose shows floral notes, raspberry, and subtle round oak.The palate displaying raspberry, restrained cherry, spice and notes of green tea. Now the damper weather has arrived I thought I might try digging for worms in the lawn. This is more difficult than digging for worms in the flower beds but is more rewarding as it drives the gardener berserk! The technique I use is to dig my beak into the lawn then thrust forward and up at the same time. This flings great clods of earth and turf up into the air causing unsightly scars in the once pristine lawn. I then have approximately four seconds toeat whatever I've uncovered before the gardener races from the house screaming abuse at me. Once he's returned inside the process starts all over again.
