IFBB Pro Chris Cormier announced on Pro Bodybuilding Weekly that he will be returning to the stage in August for a pair of contests, the IFBB Pro Bodybuilding Weekly Championships on August 9, 2008 and the IFBB Europa SuperShow on August 16, 2008.Cormier, one of the most successful competitors in IFBB history and a likely future Hall of Famer, last competed at the 2007 IFBB Atlantic City Pro, placing sixth. A week before IFBB Atlantic City, Cormier placed fourth at the IFBB Montreal Pro. Those competitions marked an improbable return to the stage, as just a year earlier Cormier lost the ability to walk while hospitalized with a severe back injury. Cormier guest posed at the 2008 IFBB Pittsburgh Pro Figure Championships last weekend weighing 275 pounds and said he feels rejuvinated and read
First off you’re a journayman pitcher, you’ve had Tommy John surgery and then the Manager of the team you’ve been called up to thinks you’re an opposing player and tries to point you back in the direction of the visiting clubhouse.
Welcome to the Bigs Jeff Bennett.
Jeff helped the R-Braves reach the playoffs and helped them get to the “Bricktown Showdown” in Oklahoma City - and now he gets to start for a team he’s always wanted to play for (boy doesn’t that seem the case with a lot of guys?).
“I grew up watching the Braves,” said Bennett, who’s from Nashville. “And I’m happy to be one.”
Bennett takes Lance Cormier’s spot in the rotation, and for good reason. Lance has been horrible, loosing his last two starts and in his last start only lasted 2 innings against the Washington Nationals.
Bennett looks as though he’s a groundball machine(60% in AA, 57% in Triple A), which is do to his sinker
Well that didn’t take long, and it looks as though Lance will join the rotation but will more than likely pitch out of the pen tonight. Since Bobby used up everyone in yesterdays marathon game.
“[Cormier will] be in relief tomorrow,” said manager Bobby Cox, who used all seven relievers Thursday, including Ron Mahay for three [...]
The Braves brain trust has decided to give Smoltzie the day off tomorrow and will start Lance Cormier in his stead. This is a move that doesn’t surprise me in the least bit. Smoltz is the key to the starting rotation (I know I’m preaching to the choir on this one) but the healthier [...]
Well according to DOB over at the AJC, Lance Comrmier is set to join the Braves in Florida on June 5th and pitch in the double header. For me this is some pretty damn good news.
As expected, Cormier is scheduled to join the rotation for the June 5 doubleheader vs. Florida. Bobby Cox confirmed [...]
Lance Cormier is looking better, and set to make one more re-hab start. This time for Triple A Richmond after which if successful he’ll be able to be added to the rotation, that’s if the Braves see him fit too.
Wednesday he tossed 5 scoreless innings, four hits, no walks and 4 strike outs.
Assistant GM Frank [...]
Lance Cormier who’s been out since the end of spring training had another rehab start last night for Double A Mississippi, and from what the AJC is reporting things went well.
Lance Cormier pitched five scoreless innings of four-hit ball in a Class AA rehab start. He had four strikeouts and no walks, and is set [...]
Yes another one, the Reds cast off Rheal Cormier. He adds a left handed option, he was signed to a minor league contract and will head to Richmond. With Colyer being DFA’d, Gonzo is the only lefty in the Pen. I’m really really hoping that McBride can find his way back to Atlanta and bring [...]
Well I think that we dodged the proverbial bullet, after Lance felt some tightness and was scratched from his rehab start in Richmond last night.
Tests on Lance Cormier’s pitching arm showed no structural damage, and the Braves think he’ll be ready to resume an injury rehab assignment after a few days of not throwing.
He [...]
Well on the tide of good news that John Smoltz would remain a Brave for what looks like the rest of his career, bad news flows right behind it.
Lance Cormier who’s been rehabbing has been scratched from his Friday start.
The Braves’ battered pitching staff got more bad news Thursday when Lance Cormier was scratched from [...]
Lance Cormier just game out of todays game vs the Astros, holding his right arm.
As soon as I hear more, I’ll update.
But as it sits right now Lance Cormier has been injured, something to do with his pitching arm. This was his last start of the spring, and pretty much had the 5th spot in [...]
Halfway through the Grapefruit League schedule, Lance Cormier has built what could be an insurmountable lead over Kyle Davies in the race for the final spot in the Atlanta Braves' rotation. Cormier pitched five scoreless innings of three-hit ball Thursday night in a 3-2 loss against the New York Yankees at Legends Field, lowering his ERA to 1.29 in four starts.Manager Bobby Cox said of Cormier, who ranks among major league leaders in ERA, wins (3-0), strikeouts (13) and innings (14), and has issued one walk: "He's looked great all spring, and he looked good in all the starts he had [in 2006]."Source: Atlanta Journal-Constitution
