Its origin is traced to Okinawa, Japan, where it is harvested from the corals of the seas there. The Okinawa coral calcium comes from coral in the Japanese seas, which feed on plankton, resulting in high calcium levels. When the coral dies, it either descends to the ocean floor or is washed up on the floor. Of the two forms of the coral, the above sea is preferred for the purposes of making the coral calcium supplement. The reason for this is that the coral that sits on the ocean floor is contaminated with pollutants from the ocean, and therefore must be heated at very high temperatures to purge it of all contaminants. Status of Coral Reefs in the SouthWest Pacific: 2004, which has been edited by Reuben Sulu, brings together reports from Fiji, Nauru, New Caledonia, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu and Vanuatu, prepared under the auspices of the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN). It was published by the Institute of Pacific Studies Publications at USP in collaboration with the University's Institute of Marine Resources. The book was launched by IMR director Dr Ken MacKay who pointed out that book carried important information on coral reefs in this part of the world. "Roots And Echoes" è il titolo del quinto album degli inglesi The Coral, registrato niente meno che nel Wheeler End Studio degli Oasis. E non potevano scegliere titolo migliore di "Radici ed echi", visto il contenuto del loro nuovo lavoro. Già, perché i Coral in queste 11 tracce ci riportano indietro di 40 anni, a certo merseybeat, al pop-folk psichedelico della west coast della fine degli anni '60, prendendo per riferimento gruppi come Beatles, Love, Doors, Byrds. E lo fanno con maestria da artigiano di provata esperienza, curando alla perfezione la scrittura e gli arrangiamenti delle varie canzoni. E' un album forse meno spontaneo, stravagante dei precedenti, ma è ugualmente un bel lavoro. Ci mostra un altro lato dei Coral, probabilmente una loro evoluzione.In "Roots And Echoes" non troviamo canzoni brutte, ma alcune senza dubbio spiccano sulle altre.
