In an odd move, the people at Majesco, creators of the Cooking Mama games, decided to send an email to Alex Navarro, former writer for Gamespot.com. The reason for the email? They weren't happy about the fact that he only gave their game a six out of ten, saying that its not worth your while. Cooking Mama 2 has been announced for both the Nintendo DS and Wii with a release date of early 2008. It will be published by 505 Games in an agreement with Cooking Mama Ltd, a subsidiary of Japanese developer Office Create.
The sequel to the best-selling Cooking simulation promises new recipes, twice as many mini-games and an all-new multiplayer mode to challenge other players to a ‘cook off‘. This all adds up to a funner, tastier sequel, although not exactly unexpected.
Cooking Mama is an original and fun title that boasts immediate ‘pick up and play’ kitchen action, to ensure that players of any age or skill level are able to enjoy its wholesome gameplay, which had the player chopping, dicing, stirring, and more using natural motions as they cook and prepare food. Originally released in December 2006 on Nintendo DS as Cooking Mama and on the Wii in May 2007 with the title Cooking Mama: Cook Off.

Never in a million years did I think I'd mention a gaming video on this blog. But when I read about a game called "Cooking Mama" in Dave Thomas's column in the Denver Post, I had to laugh out loud. As Dave writes:Anyone who has watched "Iron Chef" knows that Japan long has understood the inherent competition and one-upmanship of the kitchen. Chefs battling it out on TV for a panel of judges fits nicely with the county-fair pie contest or the neighborhood rivalry for the best barbecue.
