      Kitchen Remodeling Contractor
Hiring a kitchen contractor can help save you a lot of time. It can make the whole process much easier and less stressful for you. However, the contractor knows the basics of kitchen remodeling. They do not know what you want or how you anticipate your finished kitchen to look. It is up to you to make sure they understand your idea and how you want the kitchen to be remodeled. Additionally, you have to understand that they may have different tastes than you, so you have to be clear in your communications and pretty exact with your instructions. After all, they are merely there for the technical aspect, not the design aspect. When first meeting with the contractor it can help to have some samples and a general idea sketched out for the contractor. If they are buying the supplies then you rea

      Contractor Scam Phrases Know
Like most homeowners, you probably spent the winter months talking about the various home improvements you'd like to make. Now that spring is here, it's time to act on those remodeling ideas. Unfortunately, it's also a time when incompetent or unethical contractors come out of the woodwork to prey on innocent homeowners. To help reduce your risk of being scammed, here are some of the popular phrases I encountered when I was rehabbing real estate."I just happen to be working in your neighborhood.""I have materials left over from another job.""I need the cash up front.""I have a special offer that's good for today only.""I can help you finance the project." (NEVER, EVER, EVER DO THIS!! You can potentially lose you home to the scam artist.)"I want to use your home as a model."If you ever feel

Not the kind of project that gets a contractor excited?
While the kitchen ceiling is coming along (slowly), the parking/driveway project is still in hibernation. I have a theory about that..., which I am not going to believe in, but I say it anyway. The ratio of project size, materials and effort involved isn't one that gets a contractor excited. It's a small job with mostly low cost materials (all gravel and only a narrow 5 foot wide cobble stone apron) that requires heavy equipment. Wait and see, right?

      Bye bye Contractor
I really got my hopes up with this landscape contractor. He came recommended by our local hardware store, returned calls promptly, which was exciting and dropped the sample pavers for the apron when he said he would, which was even more exciting. And with all that excitement going on in my head I got a bit carried away and forgot the other part of the deal, the price. We got it yesterday, promptly, after we had let him know our choice of paver, and all I could say was: bye bye contractor. His number was for three days of work and three men to construct our 17x20' gravel parking area. So we're on the lookout again.
