Well I have been quiet for a while again. Actually have had little time to craft but now I have finished my first altered 'Pringles' container.I first prepared the contained by giving it two coats of white gesso, allowing to dry between coats.I used two rubber stamps, one of a rose and the other of a decorative heart and stamped both onto pink tissue with black and blazing red Stazon ink. Once dry I tore the tissue around the stamped images in a random fashion and then adhered this to the gessoed surface of the container with matt paper Mod Podge. I applied ModPodge to the container first and then adhered the tissue with another layer. Some of the layers overlapped producing a pleasing darker shade of pink from the tissue. Also there is some texture produced by not totally flattening the s

This is one of those things! While preparing a marinade last week for steak I got out a large gallon sized ziplock baggy and a bowl. Opening the baggy I placed it in the bowl and proceeded to add the ingredients and then picking it up out of the bowl, gave it a swish to mix and then add the meats and sealed it tight. While doing this I remembered years ago when I first started to make marinades regularly I would often put them in a pan. Later I tried ziplock baggies but would fight with them laying on the counter and 'opening' and 'shifting' thereby spilling their contents on my countertop!About 10 years ago I just started to set the baggy inside a bowl to 'hold it in place' while filli

Successful Container Gardening Requires Adequate Drainage
No matter what type of plant or container you use in your garden, adequate drainage is a must. Waterlogged soil is one of the major culprits of damaged and dying plants and it is essential for every container you use to have enough drainage holes to avoid potential problems. Even having too many drainage holes is far better than not having enough. If the container or pot you would like to use does not have a drainage hole in it already, drilling one using a handheld drill with a large bore drill bit is the easiest way to make one. Usually, drainage holes at least ½ inch to 1 inch in diameter are best. Make one drainage hole per square foot of container space, but if you're not sure how many square feet your pot or container is, err on the side of caution and drill several holes, evenly spa

Planting an herbal garden that includes scented geraniums is not common to container gardening. Most gardeners think of scented geraniums as a floral plant, not an herbal plant but the species, called pelargonium, is an herb with many uses. This delightful herb has many different aromas and gorgeous colors to delight your senses. The scented geranium is best used in container gardening for two reasons. One, you can control the soil and moisture, and two you can bring it indoors when a frost is imminent. The scented geranium was found in Africa in the 1600's and shipped to England where it became most popular. The gardener of King Charles I grew a variety of scented geraniums in the royal greenhouse. The Victorians thought they were geraniums rather than an herbal plant but if you look at t

With the recent prevalence of outbreaks of salmonella, e. coli and other from products such as green onions and spinach, we are left concerned about whether any of the produce we buy is really safe. Halvårsregnskabet fra A.P.

No worries about frost because garlic likes the winter. How to grow garlic 1. Where do you grow them? Push cloves into the ground all over your garden, and let them survive as they will. This will help your other plants. To grow them as crops you should use raised beds. For instance a plastic garbage bin makes a good raised bed if you punch holes in the bottom, and trim it down to about 9 inches high. If you are careful you could get three or four rings out of each bin, each 9 inches high, to make the retaining walls for your raised beds. Each ring could grow about 25 bulbs, with many cloves in each bulb. Fill the rings with compost mixed with some soil. It must be will drained and fertile. 2. After a few years you'll have your own stock. To start with you can buy bulbs from an organic grower, or me

      Container gardening
Yup! I have a thriving vegetable garden in our balcony. We live on the 14th floor of a high rise and this summer is the second time I have tried to test my "green thumb". Last year it was a flower garden. This year I decided to go for vegetable garden. I bought all the seeds, and the experience of watching what you sow grow and blossom, is so exciting and fulfilling. I got herbs(parsley, cilantro and basil), okra, long beans(sitaw), green beans and eggplant. I did harvest some broccoli rabe 2 weeks ago for the second time but I decided, that was it for this veggie. I learned you have to sow seeds again and I didn't want to do it anymore.I just hope they continue to survive the heat and occasional wind gusts when there are thunderstorms. We live near the ocean and the wind gusts are sometimes strong. So now, here's proof that gardening in a pot works...

Explain typical Bean life cycle in Spring Bean Factory Container.
The following steps talk about throw light on how a bean life cycle is inside a bean factory container: The bean's definition is found by the bean factory container from the XML file and instantiates the bean. The Spring framework populates all of the properties as specified in the bean definition using DI.  If the bean implements the BeanNameAware interface, the factory calls setBeanName() passing the bean's ID. If the bean implements the BeanFactoryAware interface, the factory calls setBeanFactory(), passing an instance of itself. If there are any BeanPostProcessors associated with the bean, their postProcessBeforeInitialization() methods will be called. If an init-method is specified for the bean, it will be called. Finally, if there are any BeanPostProcessors associated with the bean, their postProcessAfterInitialization() methods will be called.

How to make a Butterfly Container Garden
Creating a butterfly garden is anything but new. In fact, there are more resources available via Google on how to make a butterfly garden than the practice of creating a square foot garden. But, what if the garden you are trying to create needs to be limited to container plants? Those gardeners who live in apartments, lifestyle villages, or who only have space on their rooftops are limited to what they can plant. Everything they grow must be contained in some form of pot rather than in garden soil. So, is it possible to create a butterfly container garden? Sure, it's just a matter of choosing the right plants that will (a) survive living in a container, and (b) still entice butterflies. Keys to growing butterfly plants in containers Select the right container - this is paramount to your success in growing the plants that butterflies like. BTS, a part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration, reported that U.S.-container trade in 2005 and 2006 was more than double the trade of a decade earlier.
