      Congratulations! It's a Mucus Plug!
When I have a patient in labor, I have to make sure that I chart pretty much every single little thing that happens. But, especially, I have to chart certain milestones. Like...your due date...the first day of your last menstrual period...when your labor started....when your water broke, when your cervix in dilated to 10 cm. When the baby is born...when the placenta is delivered. But, you know what IS NOT A MILESTONE? When you lost your mucus plug. I don't really care. Your doctor doesn't care. Your midwife doesn't care. If you call your midwife at 3 am to tell her that your mucus plug is currently exiting your vagina? and she tells you to put it in a baggie and take in to the office the next day to show the other midwife? She's probably really mad at that midwife (or has a rea

Several Streatham and Brixton Chess Club players took part, with Robin Haldane doing well to score 3/5 in a very strong Open that was eventually won jointly by Grandmaster Jonathan Rowson and International Master Odion Aikhoje, each on 4½/5. However, pride of place from our chess club goes to Alan Hayward who with 4½/5 finished second in the 67-player strong Major, winning himself £150 no less. With $70 billion set aside for the war effort. And so ends the first year of the “most ethical” Democratic Congress, not racing through the finish line in triumph, but turning tail and running the opposite direction, utterly giving up on everything they promised to do if elected. And people wonder why I am so pessimistic when it comes politics and politicians. And people wonder why I have absolutely no confidence and trust in our government. And people think I’m overreacting when I call our government one of the most evil institutions to ever exist on this planet. Because make no mistake, the passage of this bill is downright evil. The Democrats, so desperate to spend other people’s money, took the mandate America gave them when they were swept into office, and proceeded to use it as toilet paper. The war will now continue until Bush is forced out of office, and most likely will continue under whatever other criminal we put in place to “lead” us (wi

Your confidence and determination have served you well each episode but this time you brought your hip aesthetic to the everyday woman. Your client gave you multiple limitations (no dress, skirt, color, pattern, etc.) so you were challenged to reinvent a basic jeans/black top combo. You quickly created a fresh look with innovative horizontal pleating that made the lady strut down the runway with self-assurance. We jumped up and down with you when you got to meet Sarah Jessica and you showed us your leadership skills at the helm of 'Team Star.' And fierce? Congratulations, Jillian
In spite of the fact that your work each week has been meticulous, you've flown under the radar as far as the judges were concerned. This outing you took the big risk and assumed the leadership role; we all know by now that this means that you were vulnerable. You wisely selected to incorporate all three elements - overalls, poodle skirts and 70's flare - as well as using fabric to unify the looks your team created. You also chose to work with designers that share your impeccable construction skills but you still worried without ever resorting to bullying or drama. Each garment in the mini-collection was strong, well-executed and had a clear point-of-view leading the judges to declare an obvious winner. And overalls a fashion don't? Never in Jillian's world! Brava! This post is only for POSITIVE words for Jillian Lewis or her team. If you have comments or opinions about other work please visit our reaction post here.

First of all you listened to the needs of your client. You understood the tailoring and fit challenges of a muscular man because you face them yourself. And you got that Tiki Barber wanted those unexpected touches of whimsy you achieved with the fabric on the bias. You gave Tiki a look that was appropriate to both his profession and physicality and he loved it. (Click here to see the Today Show video.) Bravo, Jack! This post is only for POSITIVE words for Jack Mackenroth. If you have comments or opinions about other work please visit our reaction post here.

      Congratulations, Victorya
You presented a beautiful sketch and a strong idea to Sarah Jessica. Any doubts that SJP had about making the garment interesting were eliminated when she saw your ensemble come down the runway. You excelled as a team leader and the result of your collaboration, a dress and vest, was well-executed. You took a flattering silhouette, coupled it with a sophisticated palette and added construction detailing that resulted in a fashion forward look within a budget for the Bitten line. Brava, Victorya. This post is only for positive things to say about Victorya and/or the look that she created. Each of them will get a copy of a media monitoring guidebook I recently co-authored. Congratulations to Hecky Villanueva, Angela Santillan and Cepheus Quiñones. Please find below the answers they gave to the hypothetical situation I presented. Hecky Villanueva’s answer: Romy and Judith Miranda face a decision that will affect their lives for years to come.  The consequences are multidimensional as it will have implications on their professional careers and reputations, source of livelihood, and future actions.Judith Miranda should have first talked things over with her father and made the appropriate disclosures when requesting interviews at Lifeline.  Her father then could have prepared for any contingency including the threat of a firing. Congratulations, Rami
The gown you designed showed your flair for draping and had an exquisite goddess silhouette. You quietly worked without a hint of drama or any evidence of being a diva. It was fascinating watching you try different approaches, each beautiful but still very much your own point of view. In the end you charmed the judges with your dress and you enchanted the viewers with your style and attitude. (We'll talk about those biceps later.) Congratulations on the Book Award, and Welcome to the Scrutiny
BRAY, Ireland — The Man Booker Prize carries with it a check for £50,000 (about $105,000), a guaranteed increase in book sales and, for little-known authors, instant popular recognition. But the spotlight sometimes falls in unexpected places. That is what happened to the Irish writer Anne Enright, who won the 2007 Booker for “The Gathering” last month. The novel, in which a woman tries to untie her family’s tangled past as she brings her brother’s body home to be buried in Ireland, has won glowing praise, as Ms. Enright’s books generally do. But almost immediately the praise was intermingled with criticism over a recent essay by Ms. Enright in The London Review of Books. More information Share This

      Congratulations Al Gore
Last weekend the local newspapers reported that leaf pick up service was starting this week. The problem is, there aren't many leaves available for pick up. Today's real estate travels took me through Monroe, Livingston, Wyoming and Genesee Counties. For the most part, things are still pretty green around here with the exception of the Warsaw and Wyoming, NY areas and even there, I didn't see very many leaves on the ground. In fact, today, October 17th, I took this photo of a shrub in my front yard with new flowers. Tell me again, that there is no such thing as global warming!I got thinking about global warming a few weeks ago when Rochester Gas and Electric offered us an opportunity to send them a few extra dollars a month to support wind power. We decided to do that although it wasn't an easy decision. On one hand, there is no doubt that traditional power sources have contributed significantly to a very polluted environment. On the other hand, wind mills are not very pretty to lo

      Congratulations on the Oregon Tournament
Congrats to all of the guys who competed at the tournament in Oregon on Saturday. Coach Foster took several guys down to Oregon to compete in the tournament hosted by Impact Jiu-Jitsu and they did very well. Bingo, Josh and Trevin all represented, and while Rick went down to compete, there were no purple belts that were big enough to give him a match.Josh ended up taking bronze in his first tournament as a blue belt. He got two matches, and ended up losing to the guy who eventually won gold 2-0. Trevin lost a match 8-7... so close. He did well, too, winning a bronze medal. Bingo won the white belt division after what Coach described as four hard matches. Coach Foster was prepared and awarded Bing his blue belt on the podium. How cool is that? So, congratulations to everyone who competed, and to Bing on your well deserved promotion to Blue Belt.

      Congratulations, America!
Al Gore was our high school sweetheart - helped us with our homework, was caring, patient.  Then George W. Bush came along and boy, was he a knockout in a smoking-behind-the-school sort of way.  So naturally, we abandoned the nerd for the tough-talking C-student.  That's how we do in this country.  Things were okay for a minute, so we just wrote off Gore's fight in the aftermath of the 2000 election as sour grapes.  He missed us and was willing to do anything to get us back, but we just wanted to move on and enjoy life with our new partner.  Except the new chick got pregnant right after graduation, spent all our money on other men, started fights that we had to finish, and berated us in front of our buddies whenever we didn't agree with her.  Congratulations, America. Our ex went on to get an Emmy and we were glad to see her move on and succeed on her own.  Then came the Oscar for a movie that encapsulated all the things she had tried to

Congratulations Al Gore, Jr., Winner Of The 2007 Nobel Peace Prize
Today it was announced that the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize was jointly awarded to The UN’s International Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) jointly with Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States under Bill Clinton. This is the very same Al Gore who should have become the forty-third president of the US, had it not been for the disastrously bad partisan (5-4) vote by the Supreme Court in its 2000 decision to anoint the Presidency to whom historians now call “ The worst President in US history, George Walker Bush. According to BBC News, “By choosing Al Gore and the IPCC for the award in 2007, the Nobel Committee have rightly brought to our attention that climate change is the single biggest threat to world peace we have ever faced.” Mr. Gore has been a champion for bringing awareness of climate change with his 2006 Oscar-winning documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth”, and numerous books over the years on the the importance of ecology. CONGRATULATIONS DR GOPAKUMAR (Snr).
I was so pleased to hear Dr Gopakumar's result at the Court of Appeal today. Gopakumar succeeded in obtaining permission to appeal the GMC's judgment. Dr Gopakumar who was represented by the MDU initially has been misjudged by the General Medical Council. The BBC featured this story on him sometime ago. I subsequently wrote this on the mishandling of the case. Essentially, Dr Gopakumar a well liked doctor with an unblemished record was subject to a complaint by Ms B. The GMC wholeheartedly believed Ms B. His barrister stated "Mr Pennock said that, as well as receiving a police caution after she was a passenger in a stolen vehicle, Miss B’s medical records revealed she had used heroin.“That clearly makes the decision unsafe,” he told the Appeal Court. This is though what the GMC directed its panel in the character of Ms B. "Barrister, Ian Pennock, for Dr Gopakumar, said that, given the woman’s history, the panel should not have been given a direction by its legal advisers that

      Congratulations…
So, do you think Hung deserved to win? I do…and here’s why: *He took the judges’ criticisms and ran with it. They said they couldn’t see Hung in Hung’s food, so it was important for him to work on cooking with more identity and soul. Hung stepped up to that challenge. This meal was all about him. *His food has been solid throughout the competition. There’s really not been a week when I thought he was in significant trouble. Although he was in the bottom a few times, he was never THE bottom person (or even really close for that matter). *He met the “fourth course” challenge with a good dessert. I feel like Casey and Dale both relied on their sous chefs to come up with a plan, but Hung said “I know what to do” and just gave Sara direction on what to do it. Yes, it wasn’t “innovative.” But, it was a damn good cake, AND let’s not forget that he baked it at a high altitude. That’s not exactly easy.

Sport Club Corinthians Paulista is founded on Sep 1, 1910 in São Paulo, Brazil«On September 1, 1910, a group of labourers in the neighborhood of Bom Retiro decided to create their own club. Their idea was to found a football team in which anyone could display his abilities in the sport, since back then, in the beginning of the 20th century, football in Brazil was considered to be an elitist sport, played mainly by British descendants and people who worked for British companies.Under the lights of an oil lamp, in the "Rua dos Imigrantes" (Immigrants Street), the labourers Joaquim Ambrósio, Antônio Pereira, César Nunes, Rafael Perrone, Anselmo Correia, Alexandre Magnani, Salvador Lopomo, João da Silva, Antônio Nunes founded the first popular club in São Paulo...» (from Wikipedia) Avaí Futebol Club is founded on September 1, in Florianópolis, capital do estado de Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Congratulations on NZ Standards OpenXML decision
Recently, there has been a move made by Microsoft to get their digital document format OpenXML accepted as a standard by the International Standards Organisation (ISO). There have been many descriptions of how this format contains components that are proprietary and can’t be implemented by anybody other than Microsoft. Acceptance as a standard means that a government may, more easily, accept and prescribe it as mandatory for any communications. This, in turn, will mean that anybody who communicates with that government must use Microsoft’s software. So, this can mean only that: the user’s choice is more limited, innovation is stifled, and the government is left vulnerable to the vagaries of the vendors’ business decisions in the future. Yesterday Standards NZ decided to vote ‘no’ to the OpenXML standard proposed by Microsoft in competition with the present ODF standard. Congrats for making the right decision in the face of a tirade of PR noise. Let&r
