The first time I made ice cream with a real vanilla bean (pod) was in 1994. The recipe’s picture of the “Classic Vanilla Bean Ice Cream”, with little specks of vanilla in the off-white ice cream looked delicious. On Wednesday, congressional leaders met with President Bush to discuss a new bill for the Iraq supplemental spending after the veto of the first bill and the failed attempt to override the veto. Also on Wednesday, it was clear after the House voted 222 to 203, about 60 votes shy of the two-thirds majority needed to override the president's veto, that a bill with a withdrawal date would not get passed by the president. The four Republicans in the House and Senate that voted for the first spending bill were Senators Chuck Hagel (R-Nebraska) and Gordon Smith (R-Oregon) and the two House members were Walter B. Jones (R-North Carolina) and Wayne T. Gilchrest (R-Maryland). Democrats agreed to take out a withdrawal date from the bill but Democratic leaders said that they must have language included that will influence the war policy. People say that Christians are not tolerant. I can understand where that judgment comes from. After seeing the Wrong Revered Phelps on TV a few times with his “God Hates Fags” placards.. anyone could easily come to a similar conclusion.
Most of us, however, think not too kindly about the Phelps agenda. In fact, most cry out in despair not wanting to be identified with that representation.
So, where does that leave us? How do we draw the line between tolerance and compromise? Can we easily discern the difference? Can we reach out in love to those who live in a manner that we reckon to be wrong? Can we open our church doors to gothic types and transvestites? Does our welcoming arms of tolerance also constitute as being a compromise?
I personally think, that we should be more tolerant than anybody. We should be able to put up with, and allow people who are lost and w/o Jesus to live as those who are lost and without Jesus.. Tolerating someone does not mean that you

BBC: A British Airways employee fighting to openly wear a cross necklace at work has rejected a compromise deal.
Nadia Eweida, 55, said BA has offered her a job in recruitment where she would not have to conceal her cross.
The check-in worker, from Twickenham, south-west London, plans to sue BA for religious discrimination after being told to conceal her necklace.
The airline said its uniform policy stated such items could be worn if concealed underneath the uniform.
Ms Eweida told the BBC she did not see why she should compromise "when my colleagues of other faiths are there in public view in uniform and they are accepting of their religious apparel".
Indian scientists have raised objections on certain points of the Indo-US nuclear deal. They have objected to the clause, which says India can't reprocess nuclear fuel. Questions have also been raised on the clause dealing with the inspection process. Scientists feel this will destroy the secrecy of India's nuclear program.
