I have recently received the following comment: On the contrary I have just been informed that my name has not been put in the reserve list for the translators' competition, as my mark for the oral exam was below pass mark. too bad. Dear readers of this blog that you did not pass the competition,Please remember that life has a lot of twists and that you should always try to harvest the positive elements (even from a failure) and dismiss the negative.I am persuaded that a failure is a failure, only if we feel like this. My personal advice is that after such a moment of a temporary set-back (it's not a failure :-) it is the time to take stock of why you had low grade for the orals.I strongly believe that this sometimes painful but useful exercise could help you in your future career irrespes
To attract the judges' attention, you need to stand out. There are several ways to achieve that. One way is to make sure your photo is eye catching. This can be done by following the rules of Composition with great care and paying attention to color and patterns. Another trick that will help you out is to get the assistance of a friend, preferably more than one. Show them the photo you'd like to submit, together with some other photos, and ask them to rate them according to how eye-catching they are. While you can't expect to get the same answers from everyone, this exercise will give you a general idea on whether or not you photo stands out. Clarity will help your picture stand out. Use strong eye catching colors such as red, blue and yellow. Make sure facial expressions are clear and

One must think about the aesthetic nature of the songs, and the general sound of that style. The next action to make is to add a trait or two to the traditional music of your culture. In all music there are notes that sound horrible when played together or just plain uninteresting.
The addition of the breathy sound of the woodwinds tends to soften the sound. Therefore, having instruments from all the musical families’ balances the music to a fuller colorful atmosphere of sound. To diversify creation of Jazz music one should determine the elements to add or expand on.

I very nearly forgot to post about my recent triumph in a poetry competition!
OK, that sounds rather boastful of me I know, but I’m the kind of person who rarely, if ever, wins competitions so I’m quite proud of myself. The main reason for posting was to thank Nicole Hyde for giving me the opportunity and to encourage people to go and have a look at her blog, Nicole Hyde Fine Art
Nicole is an artist from Colorado who states a preference for working in oils and if you can spare a few seconds I’m asking everyone to go and vote for a painting she has entered in the Saatchi Gallery Showdown - it is a very moody landscape and it would be great if we could help increase the voting for her - not that the painting doesn’t merit our votes, but hey, bloggers help bloggers right? You have only until April 9th, So - Click here to place your votes
Good luck Nicole and let us know how you get on.
I can’t wait to receive my prize - thanks so much - I shall put a pictu

Love hate relationships.. Christine Ellis as Claire Standish & Kelvin Wong as John Bender (The Breakfast Club, A.L.M.S. Productions, 2006)Love hate relationships.. are the most intriguing yet the most perplexing..I love seeing results, but hate the hours of blood, sweat and tears I have to put in to get it. Love the new pair of Red by Marc Ecko sneakers that i bought (my first pair of sneakers - EVER!), hate the fact that they gave me blisters today. Similarly, i love the fact that i'm going to Sydney in about a month's time to study, but at the same time, i also really hate the fact that I'm going to miss so many people and so many things - partly thrilled, mostly terrified.. in a good way i think *heh* ai...Some of you guys really liked the last song by Donna Burke that i put into one of my previous posts, so here another one of her tracks.. a sexier number than the last, has something to do with the title of me post too ;) *enjoy* Anyways, as promised, more photos from THE B

The latest comes from car maker Scion and I quote from their competition website, "Scion Floorplan is a competition, open to the design community, where you are asked to design Scion's new dealership showroom. This competition is an opportunity for designers to work with real world design constraints, get noticed by judges working in the design industry, be creative, and possibly win $5,000." The competition submission deadline is November 10, 2006.Other Competition Links

"What's my motivation?" This phrase is a long-running joke referring to what method actors say to their directors. They have to know what is motivating their character in order to produce a "realistic" emotion. The same could be said for filmmaking itself. Without some kind of motivating force, there is a very good chance that nothing
