      Running companions
I have different kinds of runs. And I don't mean skipping like a child or doing tempo runs, or desperately-crawling-towards-the-finish-line runs. I mean different in the company I keep. For example, there's my one dollar portable radio companion run. When I do my radio run I always do a lot of arm exercises, because the reception is so terrible. After my radio run I'm all up to date on the state of

      Animal Companions
"Companion animals can enrich our lives in an almost endless number of ways. Whether greeting us enthusiastically at the door, keeping us company on daily jogs or simply entertaining us with their play, sharing your life with a pet is a great way to increase the length and improve the quality of your life. For all they add to our lives, we owe it to them to do all we can for them in return. One

Toto on Companions for Live blog post today
I couldn't help myself - I was posting a piece on how cat owners have fewer heart attacks than non-cat owners on the Companions for Life blog and I decided to use Toto's Caturday photo for it. As my friend Ros always says, "If I had to describe what a CAT was to someone who'd never seen one, I'd show them Toto because he's the quintessential CAT".   And yes, yes he is. :-)

At least I'll have the cool companions
So I have had things I wanted to post this last week. However, my overwhelming apathy and realization that only like 2 people read this made me realize I just didn't care. Add in that even though so many people really believe I don't work, I've had my ass handed to me this week and am glad or tomorrow's day off. I miss the old days when my responsibility laid on my own shoulders instead of answering for all the mistakes made everyday. Bloody exhausting being the mother hen. Here is to the bottle o bull wine already ingested and the hopeful buttload of posts to make up for the silence.

      Uneasy Companions
He woke to what felt like a thin warm stream of fluid on his face. He started and sat up.  The threadbare sheets on the smelly floor were rumpled and the layers of dust that had coated the window panes over the years made it difficult for him to tell what time it was. He knew his bladder was swollen to bursting point but that could mean it was one a.m. He needed more, like a clock. The wetness dripped down the side of his head into his dry mouth via his parched lips and he got a small taste before he violently shook his head and spat. He whipped his head around and glared at the puppy who had prudently placed some distance between them. He touched the side of his face tentatively, sniffed his fingers and growled at the dog, “you peed on me?” Quite characteristically the little fur ball was more interested in chasing an invisible something or the other near the wall than he was in being scolded by his master. That’s when it hit him. The upchuck reflex was upon him in a flash a
