The Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence today called for a letter writing campaign to encourage Governor Steve Beshear to restore funds for early childhood program, a top priority for the Committee.The Alert titled, "$6 Million taken from KIDS NOW programs!" says that the "budget that was recently approved by the legislature will impose major cuts –totaling $6 million per year -to KIDS NOW, a critical part of Kentucky’s early care and education system."Governor Beshear has until April 14th to veto the affected parts of the budget. The call comes as $6 million per year has been transferred from the Tobacco Settlement Fund to the General fund.
