Let’s go ahead and dish out The Revolution’s weekly awards. The nominees for the Che for the best read of the week:Avengers/Invaders #1Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas #1X-Factor: Quick and the Dead #1The Winner: X-Factor: Quick and the Dead #1I found last week’s selection of comic books to be a fairly strong one. Avengers/Invaders #1 was a good debut issue to what should be a great 12 issue series.

Today's comic began just a few weeks ago. The art of RADBOD is wonderful, very spare and graphic-novel style. I've always loved robot comics! Not much dialogue yet, but dialogue is not the feature here -- the artist, Barnaby Richards, is putting the meaning into the pictures.

The Revolution has been anxiously awaiting Avengers/Invaders #1 for quite some time. It is no secret that we have fell in love with the what Krueger and Ross have given us over on Project Super Powers. Marvel continues to flood the market with Iron Man as we get yet another Iron Man mini-series with Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas. Jon Favreau, the director of Iron Man, is handling the writing duties on this title as Adi Granov handles the art chores. I am looking forward to Favreau’s story. Favreau gave us a fantastic version of Tony Stark and clearly gets Tony’s character. I’m confident that we
With the smash success of the movie Iron Man, you just knew that Marvel had plans to unleash an onslaught of Iron Man titles into the market. Despite the fact that Iron Man has never posted large sales numbers, Marvel feels that it is time for a second monthly Iron Man title.Invincible Iron Man #1 is brought to us by Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca. I dig Larroca’s art, so I’m sure that we

The Revolution really enjoyed the last issue of Mighty Avengers. Bendis did a fantastic job writing Nick Fury’s character and filling the reader in on the back-story about what Nick has been doing in connection with the Skrull invasion. Mighty Avengers #13 continues to follow Nick Fury as he attempts to deal with the Skrull infiltration. It also appears that we are going to get treated to an all new version of the Howling Commandos. It’s about that time again, time to pick the new leader of the free world. Just for the sake of clarity I would prefer to label the new president of the United States as leader of the pseudo-free world and annihilator of the less fortunate, just because it sounds cooler, and let’s be honest, what true freedom exists in the States when I can’t even say Merry Christmas without offending a Jew or two and probably ending up in shackles. So it’s time for y’all to decide who is gonna make the rest of the world hate your guts for the next four years. For what some might consider one of the most important decisions of the year, the American public seem to treat elections ever so immaturely. When choosing one’s leader, one must account for the decisions the chosen individual might make u

Striptease is not a stripper comic, despite the name. I've been reading it since the beginning -- it's gone through a lot of changes. The strip is about a comic strip artist, and the team producing the comic, but it's really a long-running soap opera.
The cast of Striptease produces NEATO-PEOPLE, a comic within the comic, but NEATO-PEOPLE doesn't often make an appearance in the webcomic. It's just the character's job.
Striptease is my guilty pleasure. I've stuck with these crazy characters through all their trials and tribulations, artist changes, and years of great comics. Now it's your turn!

The Revolution finally got over to the movie theater and saw Iron Man. Needless to say, I absolutely loved the movie. Of course, I knew that I would like this movie. What has stunned me is the impressive opening that Iron Man had last weekend and the overwhelming number of positive reviews from all the movie critics.Iron Man hauled in a remarkable $104 million in its opening weekend. That is the second highest opening ever for a non-sequel and the tenth highest opening of all-time. Overseas, Iron Man pulled in $96.8 million giving Iron Man a grand total of $201 million in its opening weekend. The reported production costs for Iron Man have varied between $140 million and $180 million. So, it appears that Marvel will be netting a nice profit off of Iron Man.Marvel will certainly be happy wi

The Revolution rarely enjoys origin stories. And the last issue of Green Lantern was no exception. Johns is giving us the second installment of the “Secret Origin” story with Green Lantern #30. The fact is that most origin stories are a bit boring as the writer rarely gives anything new for long time readers to enjoy. Johns is basically just taking several issues off in order to catch his breath for the next story arc. I’m sure that Green Lantern #30 will be another average read. After playing a Father in MY NAME IS ANTHONY GONSALVES earlier this year, Mithun Chakraborty would be seen in a different role this May. Now he would be changing gears and enacting the role of a Don, albeit the one who carries comic shades.Titled DON MUTHUSWAMI, the film comes from the house of Shakti Samanta who is the man behind timeless classics like ARADHANA, KATI PATANG, AMAR PREM and many more. However, it is not the veteran film maker but his son Ashim Samanta who has taken over the responsibility of directing DON MUTHUSWAMI, a comedy. Asheem's last directorial outing was AANKHON MEIN TUM HO which was a box office failure.Film's plot revolves around the character of a don (played by Mithun) who, in order to fulfill the wishes of his dying father, tries to go straight in life. I saw Iron Man yesterday with a few friends, and I liked it more than I was expecting to. Sure, it had a borderline-ridiculous plot, but Robert Downey, Jr. was brilliant. He’s has been one of my favorite actors ever since I saw A Scanner Darkly, and his role in Iron Man is the only [...]

Teen Titans continues to be an entertaining read. I concede that McKeever is treading very well worn ground with yet another evil version of the Teen Titans in the Terror Titans. The Revolution always looks forward to Shooter’s latest issue of the Legion of Super Heroes. To be sure, Shooter does need to tighten up the story a bit and pick the pace up on this alien invader plotline. Still, I am in love with this title due to the character work that has been so enjoyable and the fact that for the first time in many years this title actually reads like a Legion title. The Revolution was less than impressed with the Legion of Super Heroes story arc. It was dull and anti-climactic. May 3, 2008 is Free Comic Book Day 2008 at participating comic book stores around the US. Many (if not most) comic book specialists will be participating, but you should stop by your favorite outlet and ask if they will take part. Everyone who shows up at a participating store will get a free comic book, and many stores will have other cool stuff to give away as well if the 2007 Free Comic Book Day is any indication.

This weeks comic is for the women in my life. Cathy Thorne gets the female perspective because, well, she's a woman. Everyday People is her attempt to clarify and expose what being a modern woman entails. Often hilarious, and consistently amusing, this comic isn't destined to be one of my favorites, but I do like the humor.
Cathy was kind enough to let us post these two comics, and you can see the potential from these. The comic updates weekly, and there's only a few hundred comics in the archive, so dig in and enjoy! This second one reminds me of the ladies we had at open mic a couple weeks ago. :)

We are finally here. There were moments when I thought I would not be able to last to the very end. It has been a real struggle to keep chronicling this story as it simply sunk to all new lows with each issue. For as much a success as 52 was, Countdown has been an unmitigated failure. DC gagged up one horribly plotted and paced story with this title. Countdown was a flawed and poorly conceived idea from the start and suffered from lousy execution. And what really gets me is that there appears to be no purpose to this title. Morrison has gone out of his way to state that his Final Crisis has nothing to do with Countdown to Final Crisis. Huh, whaaaat? You mean a comic book entitled “Countdown to Final Crisis” has nothing to do with Final Crisis? That lacks any and all sense. That is eithe
Transformers fans, begin to poop your pants… or not. I’m not sure how desirable the Transformers exclusive at Comic Con is, but to me it’s pretty neat looking.
