Montauk Monsters = Scary / Hot (a comic con tale)
So there I was at the 2008 Heroes Comic Con Panel in San Diego, running off stage after giving away a few HEROES dvds and explaining away the fact that Jeph Loeb wasn’t on stage yet.  Needless to say, the fans were in an uproar of glee and excitement when he arrived onstage, and even [...]

      Comic Con '08 Horror Roundup
Haven't been home lately to update. No, this blog has not suffered the same fate as 90% of new blogs and died a fast death and no, I don't plan on letting that happen. Just got back from a long week of gambling at Mohegan Sun and then Camping upstate (didn't win any money and did get bitten by bugs, in case you were wondering) and I was greeted with tons of interesting and exciting news and upda

2008 NEW YORK COMIC CON - DAY TWO
by Teresa Jusino Saturday at New York Comic Con means two things. First, it means an increase in the number of young children and teenagers in attendance. As soon as I got out of the subway to walk the five blocks to the convention center, I found myself swallowed up by a gaggle of teenagers. While waiting for the exhibition hall to open, I had a lovely chat with a grandfather taking his 7 year old granddaughter to her first comic con. The grandfather was a huge comic fan who was loyal to Golden Age comics and a bit disappointed by the comic industry's current offerings. The granddaughter's favorite superhero was Spider-Man. I made some recommendations for her of which the grandfather was a bit suspicious, but as she seemed interested in the stories I was telling her (Ultimate Spider-Man,

Thanks to a nifty and well versed press release, today we learn that this year's Comic Con (which will go down April 18th through the 20th) will get an additional injection of video game content with Gears of War 2 taking center stage.Scheduled to take the floor at this month's New York Comic Con, Epic's Michael Capps and GoW2 script writer Joshua Ortega will talk about Gears' origin, its success and give attendees a "glimpse into this year's upcoming Gears of War 2". Whether or not that means actual in-game GoW2 footage or just talking bits, we aren't sure. But our fingers are crossed in hopes that we get a GoW2 video tease come April 18th. Riot Breaks out in San Diego Comic Con
After two days of relative calm on Friday and Saturday, the Comic Con convention in San Diego exploded in violence on Sunday after what seemed a personal dispute spilled over into the crowd. Surveillance cameras captured the flash point: A man dressed in a Batman costume (Dark Knight #3 sans-cape, but with full utility belt) invited a young Jubilee-clad girl to his "batcave." The proposition didn't sit well her boyfriend who arrived at the convention as a semi-transformed Bruce Banner, and a scuffle ensued. The audible portion of the tape is presented below: "What do you want, DC punk," the boyfriend was overheard saying. "Why don't you go and fight for Truth and Justice, boy scout." "That's Superman, dickweed. Batman is DARK! He's not for little kids anymore. Even Superman, with the release of Birthright is way deeper. Superman must battle himself and he advocates veganism." Besides, in your semi-transformed state, you can do me no harm. "I'm getting angrier." Apparently, t

Wow, so the first day of Comic Con is over. I attended the LOST Panel and wished we had gotten more scoop about Season four. I didn’t feel like they gave us that much insight into what we can expect from Season Four, especially with the news about Michael (Harold Perrineau) coming back already announced yesterday at the TCA, there wasn’t much left. I think another part of it is the fact that Lost won’t be returning until February 2008. This means they haven’t started shooting yet, although they have started writing, so there isn’t much to say as of yet. Here are some of the things they did talk about and the videos they showed us: The panel started with a video of a bonus feature from the Season 3 Lost DVD (coming out December 11th). Xbox Live Bringing it Home - San Diego Comic Con (July 26-Aug 7)
Being a comic book dork as well as video game geek is a hard thing, thanks to Microsoft, it just keeps getting easier. According to their official site up for the promotion, via the Marketplace you can “…watch the panel discussions, see the footage, and download exclusive themes and trailers, all for a limited time.” Awesome stuff, I am sure they will attempt to bring the focus on game related comic happenings (ie Halo comics, The Darkness, etc). Right now news is already posted that they will offer a DC Comics theme and a 300 theme, with the claim “More themes every day!” Xbox360Fanboy already has the scoop of a 300 themed Elite Xbox exclusive for the convention, with 10 being given away. I await the news of this sort of attention being brought over to the MegaCon next year. For now though, enjoy this news and check the official press release after the break. Comic Con here I come!
Only two days until Comic Con! Can you tell I’m excited?!! Some of my favorite shows will be there, like Lost, Heroes, The 4400, Eureka, Battlestar Galactica, Smallville, Jericho, as well as some new shows like Bionic Woman, Pushing Daisies, Reaper, Chuck, The Sarah Connor Chronicles. While I wish I could attend all the panels, there is no way this is possible, unless I can split myself in two (note to self: start working on the splitting project), but I’ll definitely attend as many as I can. I’ll also update you guys on everything that is going on while I’m there. Probably some of it on Twitter (which I’ll link on the site) so you can follow my every move. Stay tuned!
