The other day I did the College BBall Pre-Season Rankings, so it seems fitting that I do some college football now.1. Georgia BulldogsGeorgia has to be the top team, they have plenty back, they return their QB in Matthew Stafford and one of the up and coming RBs in Knowshon Moreno, who should be one of the top backs in the nation. The offensive line is decent with 3 starters back and one decent WR

I have been waiting for win totals to pop up somewhere, but these (from BetUS) will have to do for now.USC is a huge favorite to win the Pac-10, and Duke sucks. That is about the extent of my college football insight in early June.

One of my online billiards friends sent me a cool link to check out – AddictSports.com. AddictSports is a sports forum/message board with a ton of links in it! These include sites on baseball, football, hockey, basketball, and more! At this point in time, AddictSports has more than 64,000 threads from almost 12,000 members! Wow! That’s a lot of forum members in my book! Or in anyone’s book,

Just thought I would do a brief post on some College Football and thoughts on the favorites for next season.Georgia BulldogsGeorgia was very young and inexperienced last season. They return a boatload of talent. After a very impressive season winning the Sugar Bowl, they are just that much more experienced. QB Matthew Stafford returns and is looking to be not only one of the top QBs in the SEC, bu

Introducing NFL Draft Dog's 2007 All-American Team. Before the season we did a pre-season team and it was interesting to see some of the same prospects remain on the post season list like: RB Darren McFadden, DTs Glenn Dorsey and Sedrick Ellis, linebackers James Laurinaitis, Dan Connor and Keith Rivers, offensive lineman Jake Long, Andre Smith and Michael Oher, and cornerback Antoine Cason. But what was interesting, was to watch the young prospects rise up and dominate the college football landscape. It seems our All American team has a load of talented sophomores on it. Look closely and you can see why we have started including some of these talented sophomores in our 2009 NFL Mock Draft. Some of my selections were quite simple, the players simply dominated their respective position, but
This is day one of 2 for TSF's Bowl predictions. Being there are 32 bowl games, we'll divide them up with two posts.Poinsettia Bowl Utah vs. NavyTSF's Take: Navy has a stellar rushing game and Utah's Defense is vulnerable but Utah is far more athletic and I have a feeling Utah will play like they did in their 44-6 win over UCLA.New Orleans BowlMemphis vs. Florida AtlanticTSF's Take: Memphis just has more depth and talentPapajohns.com BowlSouthern Miss vs. CincinnatiTSF's Take: Cincy has had some impressive wins and they have a high octane offense.New Mexico BowlNevada vs. New MexicoTSF's Take: I like Nevada's poise and physicalityLas Vegas BowlUCLA vs. BYUTSF's Take: BYU is underrated. Here's a closer look and brief outline about what professional sports handicapping really is and how it works.Sports handicapping is not restricted to any particular sport although it takes place more commonly in popular sports like NFL football, major league baseball, and even college basketball games. Most of these championships take place at a certain time of the year and this is when the bookies from all over the country hold center stage. Millions of dollars are made and millions more are lost. This is the truth of sports handicapping. Sport Handicapping in College Football:Let us look at College football for example. College football handicapping is considered to be one of the toughest in sports handicapping, as you would have to keep up with the action within the complete day. Today football ha
By now, we all know who is going to the National Championship game. We all know the records of those teams. We all have some kind of feelings about this years bowl selection. Instead of doing a direct rank on how messed up the BCS is, I decided to take an indirect approach by using a bit of satire. In one of my latest articles I take actually defend the BCS by y making silly claims and denouncing Hawaii’s unbeaten record as legit. Unfortunately, someone didn’t see the humor in my article
” So let me know if I am wrong but you are saying how the system puts together the best possible match ups. Wasn’t the final score of last year’s championship like 44-16 or something. Hardly the game 40 million viewers wanted to see. If your friends don’t know Colt Brennan they must not watch espn at all. LSU is not one of the best football teams ever. They’ve lost twice and one of those games was by 6 so the 2pt didn’t matter. The best teams ever were un
I'm not sure why I still do these picks. I know that nobody reads this site for the picks - they read this site for the baby punching. I also know that I suck at the picks and at this point in the season I have hit the proverbial wall. When I talked to my buddy Nigel (see: Lynchy Right Now) about sports betting because that's what we talk about we both agreed that the build up towards Thanksgiving is the most difficult time for a gambler. I have indeed begun to sag and it's obvious that the completely random XBox generator is kicking my ass with another 3-1 week while I went a paltry 2-2. I will say that it was a pretty satisfying 2-2 as the BC Eagles finally lost a game, and Matt Ryan was exposed after playing 117 terrible minutes of football over two weeks. Hopefully I can bounce back this week but if not we might never talk about college football picks again until next season. As always the home team is in caps.WEST VIRGINIA (-16) over Louisville- How in the fuck is West Virginia
It is becoming abundantly clear that I no longer have any grasp over this college football season. Virginia Tech should have given me at least one win last weekend but they decided to stop playing defense at the end of the game - oh and stop playing offense after the first quarter. I went an unbelievable 0-4 last weekend and I can feel this season slipping away. I started off like a house on fire with two straight undefeated weekends in a row but things have gone from bad to worse to my kneecaps might be in danger if I don't turn it around. I wish I could tell you that I feel confident about this slate of games but I couldn't feel less sure of anything in the world. I'd keep rambling on about this whole ordeal but let's just get to the picks and move on shall we? As always the home team is in caps.Rutgers (+1) over UCONN- This thing with UConn has to end right? I'm not even sure that people in this part of the country knew UConn had a football team and all of a sudden they're win
Quick story since nobody needs to hear about my horrible college football picks anymore. On Tuesday there was a big rally in Boston for Barack Obama where our Governor Deval Patrick was going to endorse the candidacy of Senator Obama. Well I thought the whole thing was run pretty well except for the music they were playing while everything was getting set up. I only noticed the entire situation because when I got to the spot where the ralley was being held (in the middle of Boston Common on my way to get my car) the song being played was Leanne Rimes "Nothing Better To Do." I'm not sure what the message was here by Senator Obama but if it was "come check out my ralley because honestly what else are you going to do on a Tuesday night" then it was effective because there was a pretty good looking turnout. Anyways I wonder if the Nation has any thoughts on what music you'd be playing at a political rally.Last week I went 2-2 again and I really need to turn it around. I think it's safe
I have obviously completely lost control of the 2007 season and I know I'm not alone on that one. Last night Rutgers beat USF which means that every team ranked either 1 or 2 at some point this season has now lost a game this season except Ohio State. I'm not that surprised by the Rutgers outcome because that is a good team - people have forgotten how highly touted they were coming into the season and just like everyone else they hit that bump in the road and everyone seems to have written them off. Frankly I am done trying to figure out this season though so this weeks picks will hopefully be close to accurate but since my entire system can be thrown out the window at this point I honestly would not be surprised to go o-fer again. As always the home team is in caps.Louisville (-4.5) over UCONN- I know that UConn is a one loss team but this team is a fraud. I think Louisville on the other hand might have started to figure things out after last weeks win over Cincinnati and even thoug
Auburn at LSUJust imagine if Auburn knocked off LSU here and took the SEC West lead. Auburn has been playing pretty well lately, but LSU is looking to avenge their loss against Kentucky from last week. LSU's Defense should give fits to Brandon Cox and Auburn's Offense. The Pick: LSUOregon at WashingtonThis may be a tough game for the Ducks. Washington usually plays pretty well at home and can match up individually with Oregon. The secondary could give Dennis Dixon some trouble as well. The Pick: WashingtonTexas Tech at MissouriThis is a big game for both teams as each is vying for a Big XII Championship appearance. Texas Tech's Offense can score no doubt on Mizzou but can their defense slow down Chase Daniel and the rest of the Tigers' Offense? Expect a game in the 40's.The Pick: Missouri Michigan at IllinoisI would have to say this is a must win for both teams if either of them want to contend with OSU for the Big Ten Title. Michigan has been on a roll lately after their embarrass
There will be a lot to watch this Thursday and we will probably have to choose between focusing on Baseball or College Football. It’s definitely a major game for baseball fans who are following the outcome of ALCS, since today we could have Indians as American League Champions, or they can be struck by a Red Sox fighting team that won’t give up just like that.
But for those who don’t care that much about baseball, want to watch something else at the same time or just can’t get away from Football, there will be action tonight with a couple of College Football games:
South Florida@Rutgers (7:30 PM EST)
If you’re following the College Football Polls you’ll see why this game is worth watching. After being stuck on 5th place, South Florida Bulls jumped right to 2nd place on this week’s Top 25 AP Poll due to many unexpected results from last weekend (which includes LSU dropping down from position 1 to 5). The game tonight looks very promising for the Bulls, who are 6-0 an
Well it's officially I have completely lost my grasp on the 2007 NCAA Football season. After being at or above .500 all season last week I went a breathtaking 0-4 and all but assured myself that I'll wind up under .500 when the season ends. For the early part of the season I could do no wrong - every pick I made came true, but when the going got tough I took a gamble on some real awful games. I apologize to anyone who thought I knew what I was doing with Georgia, Bowling Green or South Florida. I won't apologize for Arizona State because that pick should have worked out and I'm still bitter that it didn't. I've still got the lead over the machine but I think that has more to do with me picking one more game then the XBox being worse at this then I am. I'm hoping for a huge bounce back weekend so we're going no picture to distract me - as always the home team is in caps.Hawaii (-17.5) over SAN JOSE STATE- This pick is completely irrational. The one game the former Rainbow Warrio
LSU at KentuckyWe possibly have an upset alert here. With the way this season has been you can no longer look past anyone. Kentucky has the offense to stay with LSU. Andre Woodson and Co. will need to bring their best game so far if they want any piece of the Tigers. The Pick: LSUTexas A&M at Texas TechThe two Texas rivals will square in what is basically an elimination game for a Big XII Title berth. Stephen McGee looks to lead A&M with his arm and legs, while the Red Raiders' high-powered offense will try to make the Aggies keep with the tempo. The Pick: Texas TechWashington at Arizona St.Washington looks to be Arizona St.'s first "true" test. The Huskies are looking to bust out of their 3 game losing streak. The Pick: Arizona St.Wisconsin at Penn St.A win here would be pretty big for both teams. Wisconsin was finally taken down by upstart Illinois and Penn St. has struggled recently. Loser will most likely be eliminated from Rose Bowl contention. The Pick: WisconsinAuburn at A
By guest Blogger: John AprilCollege FootballOK, so we are roughly half way through the 2007 Season. (AP Poll ranking)We have also seen some up and coming teams thus far this year. And the one that strikes me boldly is # 5 South Florida (5-0). For once, I agree with the AP Poll on this one. Matt Grothe # 8, only a Sophomore, threw 17/27 for 122 yards, only to rush for an additional 120 yards. Yes, its early, but watch for this young man in the NFL Draft in a few years, I promise, he WILL be at the top.Another team that has earned some respect is # 7 South Carolina. LSU (6-0)Well, after the slight win 28-24, over a tough Florida team, as well as USC’s 24-23 loss to a non-ranked Stanford (1-3), I HAVE to give, and I do mean give, LSU the top spot this week. It was ONLY in the last 2 minutes of the game that they actually squeaked by.2. California (5-0)Ok, you can disagree with me on this one, yes they had a bye this week, but don’t hold it against them. With the USC loss, lets give them the benefit of the doubt and kick um up a notch.3. Well, college football is well underway and some interesting things have happened so far. USC lost to Stanford. Stanford for those of you who don’t know, didn’t win a single game last year! The defending champion Florida Gators lost for the second week in a row, the first time since 2004 that they have lost two in a room. Notre Dame has won only one game. Michigan lost to Appalachain State. And Arkansas has proved that they can beat no one. They beat the University of Tennessee- Chattenooga 34-15 a game that they should have one by more. And LSU is ranked number 1.
While all this is going on, the most exciting time of the year for me is starting to happen. College basketball. Next monday we start full team practices, as does everybody else in the country. That means that games are starting to get closer which I love. College basketball is the most exciting time of the year because the crowd is right on top of you every game, and if you lose one day you can come out the nex
When I was in college my college had no football team. Our big thing was basketball, and soccer. Not to start any debates, but neither one were my sport of choice. I enjoy watching football. I don't exactly know why. I mean, I played in high school but I was terrible. I mostly got water for the rest of the team. My wife has a friend who's husband is so into Penn State football that I thought he had been on the team. He hadn't, but his dedication to the team stemmed from the excitement of growing up with a great football team near him that his family could go to to cheer on. They all love the team. They tailgate and have a great time. My college eventually got football but the local police won't let anyone tailgate on the property. This stinks because tailgating and football go hand in hand. I have this dream that one day I will have my own tow behind smoker that I can take with me tailgating. I would also use it to have cookouts and pig roasts after long kayaking adventures. It wou
Ohio St. at Purdue With both teams being undefeated this may be the Big Ten Championship, but we won't know till the end of the season. Purdue has been pretty impressive offensively but the defense has been pretty susceptible to big plays and has had a hard time holding it's own. OSU's Offense has been able to put up points and the defense has been electrifying. The Pick: Ohio St.Wisconsin at IllinoisWho could have imagined this being a game for me to keep an eye on at the beginning of the season? This Fighting Illini team is the real deal and it looks like Zook finally has this team where he wants it. The talent and all-around athleticism of Illinois will keep them in just about every game. Wisconsin has struggled this season and have been pretty inconsistent on both sides of the ball; They squeaked out another close one last weekend against Michigan St.The Pick: WisconsinOklahoma vs. TexasThe Red River Shootout isn't as glamorous as it used to be but it's still a big game. Tragedy keeps surrounding every College campus, and now it has moved to the football athletes. Last night University of Memphis defensive lineman Taylor Bradford was shot and killed at his apartment, and his death seems to be intentional.
Bradford, a 21-year-old football player from Nashville, had been transferred from Samford University after 2 seasons of playing there. He left a record of 4 games, 3 tackles and one TFL on 2005, and 13 tackles for 2004. After playing at Samford, he became a junior with the Tigers.
Taylor was apparently hanging out with his fraternity friends when he returned to his apartment to look for some keys. He was shot there, and it seems he got on his car, but couldn’t drive much. He was taken to Regional Medical Center, where he was officially pronounced dead.
Authorities decided to cancel all classes today just for precaution, but it seems it was rather a personal attack and not just a random act of violence.
Bradford will be greatly missed at his

I'm ready for some College Football. Last week I went a horrible 3-4.West Virginia at South FloridaThis is one of the Big East games of the year. South Florida is on a roll after big wins against Auburn and North Carolina. West Virginia's Defense needs to step up and prove they can contend for a National Title against a pretty good South Florida Offense, lead by QB Matt Grothe. I expect this to be a great game, but WVA's Offense should not have too much trouble moving the ball and scoring. The Pick: West VirginiaUSC at WashingtonWashington should be a good test for USC, especially with the game being played in Seattle. USC has been very impressive and I believe they are the most balanced team in the country. This could be a good game, but the Huskies must be able to put up points if they want any part of the Trojans. The Pick: USCAuburn at FloridaThe Gators look to get revenge after their collapse last season at Auburn; but again I guess it wasn't that big of a deal anyways. (Nationa
Here we go our weekly TSF Top 20 Poll:1. USC-PR- 1The Trojans did it again, demolishing this time the Washington St. Cougars. John David Booty was solid again with 279 yards passing and 4 TD. The running game is definitely one of the best in the country. The defense continues to show their arguably the best in the country. They have a big test at Washington this week. 2. LSU- PR- 2LSU had a good win vs. South Carolina. As you've read before I'm going to continue to praise the defense, it's really tough to score on their D, but once they play another team who is more balanced on both sides of the ball (ahem... Florida) we may see the Tigers fall.3. Florida- PR- 3Florida struggled this past week, but it was the first road game for their young defense. Tim Tebow has been nearly unstoppable with 1096 yards passing and 10 TD. The defense has been some big strides so far. Big home game vs. Auburn this week, I am expecting a win, it's just one more game to get that young D ready for LSU.4
Results for this week: 7-3 for 70%

Here's TSF's Week 3 - Top 20 College Football Poll. We've decided to make it more of a power poll to comment about each team instead of just a regular poll.1. USC- PR- 1The Trojans looked impressive with a 49-31 win over Nebraska. The score isn't as close as it indicates. The offense was very balanced. John David Booty was impressive and the rushing game looked great with 4 runners getting 40+ yards. But it was the defense that looked even more impressive.2. LSU-PR- 2LSU has the best defense in the country and they stomped all over Middle Tennessee 44-0 without starting QB Matt Flynn and star WR Early Doucet. The Tigers could finally get tested by a very good South Carolina team next week.3. Florida- PR- 4Florida moves ahead of WVA because of their impressive win over Tennessee. Florida's Offense can score on anyone and the defense is continuing to improve. In my mind, the young D will only get better as the season progresses. Two more games at Ole Miss and vs. Auburn to get more
by nscI know Fresno State has a huge game coming up this weekend with a very strong Oregon team. I know many of you Bulldog fans enjoy reading the blog because of the football related content that both MDG and I provide. I know that the blog has been a great addition to my life and I have enjoyed writing it for every Bulldog (and visiting) fan out there. However, today I want to write about something that has nothing to do with the outcome of the Oregon-Fresno State football game. I would like to touch on the topic of college football and how it has become far too important in the lives of students, alumni, and even your average fan. This past weekend in a game between Rutgers-Navy the Navy QB took a tremendous hit from the Rutgers defense. Immediately after Rutgers fans began chanting obscenities in the stands. Now many of us will just push this aside because of the fact that they are kids and that is what kids do when they are having fun. I on the other hand think that fans of this na
The Jaunt would like to direct your attention to a particular guy who has managed to spin a very simple -- yet downright brilliant -- college football tour concept into an ongoing feature on "SI On Campus." The guy is Dan Rubenstein who began an independently-funded tour last season of PAC-10 schools. This time around, Dan's hard work ...wait, wait...who the hell am I kidding? The dude goes to several college football campuses, campusi, campusees and gets to booze it up at legendary tailgating venues, mingle with sexy; drunken co-eds and kick it with the potty-mouthed; cabbage-scented elderly. No hard work at all, really. But at any rate, his entertaining scoop ability now has a big brother slapping down the dollars for his weekend outings. Good for him!You can watch his latest episode which took place at Penn State this past Saturday. Also, here is the accompanying write-up detailing his experience. Hope you had fun, Dan. They don't call it "Beaver Stadium" because it's named after

The AP NCAA Football Top 25 Poll is already out there for week 1. Many college football fans will have predicted some of the positions. The AP Poll places USC Trojans as #1, after their victory 38-10 against the Idaho Vandals on Saturday. On the 15th they will be facing #16 Nebraska, which had a good starting game too, and we will see if the Trojans are able to maintain that top place and a good way to the title.
In second place comes LSU, one of the all-time favorites that seems to have made it to please all the college football betting fans. The Tigers crushed Mississippi State last week, and expect to repeat those good results against #9 Virginia Tech next Saturday (Sept. 8th).
However, one of the most surprising events involved Michigan Wolverines, who were historically humilliated by the small but fierce Appalachian State Mountaineers and got kicked out of the Top 25. The Mountaineers, a minor-league type and barely known team (which is weird because they currently have a nation

As you can already tell I'm very excited that College Football is underway. I live and breath College Football and all of Labor Day Weekend I will sit back and relax and watch some games that I've been waiting for ever since March Madness ended. Here's a few things I learned from Thursday nights' games.LSU's Defense is absolutely solid and arguably the fiercest defense in the country. After watching LSU pick off Mississippi St. 6 times last night and their front seven making many tackles behind the line of scrimmage, I have come to the conclusion that LSU has one of the best defenses in the country. They made the Bull Dogs look like they were a D-2 team playing out there. The D-Line, lead by Glenn Dorsey, were clogging the holes and making stops behind the line of scrimmage all night. The LBs were filling the gaps and sacking Michael Henig constantly. The secondary was very impressive taking the WRs out of their routes and staying at home and attacking the ball very aggressively,
Get your calender back out because the second half of the College Football season should prove to be even more exciting than the first half.Thursday October 25th on prime time TV we will get to see maybe the best college quarterback for the 2008 NFL Draft. QB Matt Ryan from Boston College plays against a very tough Virginia Tech team. Virginia Tech is 13-2 in nationally televised games and guess who they lost to? Yep, Boston College, including a 22-3 defeat last year. Virginia Tech clearly has the better team and junior cornerback Brandon Flowers will be ale to shut down half the field. Another player that NFL Scouts will be salivating over is Boston College left tackle Gosder Cherilus (6' 6" 320 lbs), with a strong senior campaign Cherilus could sneak into the later part of the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft. At least one game on October 27th figures to be an offensive shootout for the ages. West Virginia at Rutgers will highlight three of the best running backs in college football
College Football season is almost upon us so it's time to mark your calenders and cancel any plans that will take you away from your wide screen TV, unless of course you're going to the game and then your calender should already be marked. It all starts off with a bang on September 1st with a big time grudge match. Tennessee plays at California. Quarterback Erik Ainge might emerge as a legitimate NFL Prospect if he can look good and win this game. But it won't be easy, Tennessee crushed California last year 35-18 in Knoxville and this year it is at California, plus the Bears have had a full year to plot their revenge. Did I also mention California is a solid football team with a Heisman Trophy Candidate named DeSean Jackson that can score from any point on the field. Also that weekend Oklahoma State plays at Georgia. Watch wide receiver Adarius Bowman launch himself on the national stage, but also keep an eye on the young, talented sophomore Georgia quarterback Mathew Stafford. He ha

The SEC is no doubt the best conference in the nation with some of the fiercest defenses and the defending national champions Florida Gators and another favorite for this year's title in LSU.Predicted Order of Finish:East1. FloridaThe Gators lose 9 starters on defense, which could be a problem if they want to defend their national title. But good thing they will have one of the most dynamic and explosive offense's in the country. Chris Leak is gone, but QB Tim Tebow is primed to be the next great Gator QB. The WRs will be very talented with Sr. Andre Caldwell, So. Percy Harvin, Jr. Louis Murphy, So. Jarred Fayson, and WR/TE Cornelius Ingram all back. Tebow will have all sorts of talented receivers to throw to. The RB situation still looks a little cloudy but former backup Kestahn Moore looks very promising, but they still can stick Harvin back there when needed. Now to the defense, this could determine the Gators fate. Only two starters are back (DE Derrick Harvey and SS Tony Joiner)
The Big East went through some growing pains losing some key teams to the ACC but has transitioned well and is now one of the top conferences once again.Predicted Order of Finish1. West VirginiaThe Mountaineers return a solid offense with 8 starters that includes one of the top and most elusive QB's in the nation in Pat White. Also, RB Steve Slaton, who rushed for 1,744 yards and 16 touchdowns, one of the top WRs in the conference in Darius Reynaud, and 3 solid offensive linemen return. The offense will be one of the best in the country. The defense returns some key experience as well with 7 starters back. The secondary should be solid with plenty of experience there. If the LB and D-line can find some play makers to help fill in for some of the losses look for WVA to compete for a spot in that BCS National Title Game.2. LouisvilleL'Ville returns 21 starters and will be lead by the Heisman caliber arm of Brian Brohm, who passed for 3,049 yards and 16 touchdowns. They also return a to
The ACC has been nothing special within the last few season. With so many average and mediocre teams, this conference will be one of the toughest to pick.Predicted Order of FinishAtlantic1. Boston CollegeBC returns 16 starters including one of the best QBs in the conference in Matt Ryan. Two RBs return as well with plenty of experience, L.V. Whitworth and Andre Callender will be sharing the ball-carrying duties. They did lose some key players at WR but they do return some good steady talent there. The defense will be loaded with all 4 d-linemen back along with 4 other letter winners. LB will be it's strongest unit of the defense returning all 3 starters there as well, which includes Sr's Jolonn Dunbar, Tyrone Pruitt, and Brian Toal. The secondary should be good too with one of the top DB's in DeJuan Tribble and hard-hitting FS Jamie Silva back.2. Florida St.FSU struggled last year finishing 7-6. Bobby Bowden completely transformed his offensive coaching staff hiring 4 new assistants
The Big Ten has been very competitive in the BCS race and always produces some of the top tier teams in the country. Look for Wisconsin and Michigan to be the ones competing for a chance to play in the BCS National Championship game, with Ohio St., Penn St., Purdue, and Iowa not far behind.Predicted Order of Finish1. WisconsinThe offense should be solid even after losing QB John Stocco and T Joe Thomas. Tyler Donovan is battling with KSU transfer Allan Evridge for the starting QB job but Donovan looks to have the upper hand. Donovan has some experience replacing Stocco while he was injured last season. Heisman Candidate PJ Hill returns at RB, he rushed for 1,569 yards and 15 touchdowns while he led the Big Ten in all-purpose yards. They also return a solid WR corps and one of the best TEs in the land in Travis Beckum. The defense should be rocking with 8 starters back that includes DE Matt Shaughnessy, CB Jack Ikegwuounu, and LBs Jon Casillas and DeAndre Levy.2. MichiganThere is no que
The number one touchdown machine during the 2006 college football season was Boise State junior running back Ian Johnson. Johnson finished the season (2006) ranked first in the nation in scoring with 25 touchdowns. He also finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting and was named a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award. The 5' 11" 185 pound speedster ranked second in the country in rushing averaging142.83 yards per game, and an impressive 6.2 yards per carry average. Ian Johnson and Boise State are very underrated and whenever Johnson enters the NFL Draft, either this year or next, he will be a highly sought after NFL Prospect.Wide receiver Jarrett Dillard (junior) from unheralded Rice University is the Rodney Dangerfield of college football, he scored 21 touchdowns last year, but you rarely he his named mentioned as an elite NFL Draft Prospect. His TD total ranked him 3rd in the nation in scoring. He is a little small at 5' 11" 184 pounds, but he is lightening fast and has a knack
The Big XII has been down in recent years but still has it's perennial powers in Texas and Oklahoma, also Nebraska is starting to get back to its old self. The league may be down on talent but it is as competitive as any other conference in the land.Predicted Order of FinishNorth1. NebraskaThe Huskers will face a tough non-conference schedule facing USC and Wake Forest and tough in-conference road games against Missouri and Texas. They do lose QB Zac Taylor but transfer Sam Keller should be a good replacement for him. Keller has great arm strength and should put up good numbers under Bill Callahan's offense. They only return 11 starters overall, 5 on the defensive side, but they have enough depth and talent to overcome that and win the weaker division of the conference.2. MissouriThe Tigers' offense should be decent with 8 starters back that includes QB Chase Daniel, (who I believe is one of the best QB's in the Big 12), two great tight ends in Chase Coffman and Martin Rucker, and

College Football is just around the corner and today is Day 1 of The Sports Flow's big 2007 College Football preview. Today we are starting with conference previews. First up, the Pac 10.Pac 10 Conference Preview:This race will be a dog fight. The Pac 10, in my eyes, is the 2nd best conference in the country. 2nd place all the way down to 8th place is wide open with any other team being capable of finishing in either spot.Predicted Order of Finish1. USCUSC is the obvious favorite returning 17 starters. QB John David Booty returns and should only benefit with the experience back. Former WR's Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith won't be missed as much as expected with Jr. Patrick Turner and So. Vidal Hazelton back. Turner is very similar to Mike Williams and will be one of the top WR's in the conference. They can go 7 deep at RB and will have one of the best backfields in the nation. Also, the defense will be stellar returning 10 starters and should be the best LB corps with Keith Rivers,
The 2007 College Football season schedules officially came out earlier this week, so now we'll take a look at the best of the best of all the games.September 1Tennessee at CaliforniaThis game should be at least better than last years game with the Vols drubbing the Golden Bears. Both teams are heavy contenders to win their own conferences and are legitimate contenders for a BCS Bowl game as well. Early Prediction: CaliforniaSeptember 3Florida St. at ClemsonBowden Bowl IX will take place on Labor Day Weekend. Tommy has handled his dad pretty well recently winning the last two and three of eight overall. This is a huge early game to get a jump start in the ACC and FSU cannot afford a loss here with their tough schedule as it is.Early Prediction: ClemsonSeptember 8Virginia Tech at LSUTwo of the countries top defenses will meet at one of the most hostile environments on CBS. Both teams return a lot of talent; this should be a great game with players such as Matt Flynn, Jacob Hester, Early

I was racking my brain when the news came out of the UFL. I knew I had heard something last year about a new league that seemed to go away. Well, it’s back.
The All American Football League is getting ready to capitalize on the shut down of NFL Europa (Didn’t that used to be NFL Europe?). They are not really looking to compete with the NFL. They are content being the little brother that tags along, kind of like the Arena Football League.
“It seems to be getting some wings,” says former Notre Dame athletics director and Atlantic Coast Conference commissioner Gene Corrigan, an AAFL board member. “We’re moving ahead and doing some stuff. We hadn’t really done anything but talk before. Now there’s action.”
The main concept for the AAFL is to basically use any college graduate (players have to have a four year degree and exhausted college eligibility…sorry Beer truck drivers) that can not make an NFL team or even get drafted

I think the headline says it all. Whoopee.Flutie, Rashad lead Hall of Fame class (AP)Doug Flutie was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame on Wednesday in his first year of eligibility, joining Ahmad Rashad and Anthony Thompson in the newest class of players and coaches honored by the National Football Foundation.I know that I am not really being fair here since Flutie did throw that one lucky great pass that everyone remembers and Rashad was a good college player, but for as long as I live Ahmad Rashad will be known for two things: being Michael Jordan's lapdog and for marrying (and divorcing) Mrs. Huxtable.
CHICAGO (AP) -Alex Agase, a three-time All-American and a College Football Hall of Fame member who coached at Northwestern and Purdue, died Thursday. He was 85.
Agase died at a hospital near his home in Tarpon Springs, Fla., Northwestern officials said Thursday.
A guard and linebacker, Agase was an All-American at Illinois in 1942 and at Purdue in 1943 after transferring to train for the Marines. He returned to Illinois after World War II and earned All-America honors again

Did anyone watch the 9th annual State Farm College Football All-Star Challenge? It was supposedly taped at Orange Bowl Stadium on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 1:00 p.m. ET, and originally aired on ESPN Super Bowl weekend, Saturday, Feb. 3rd. There were some very talented college football players on hand: Tennessee wide receiver Robert Meachem, quarterbacks Chris Leak of Florida, Troy Smith of Ohio State, Drew Stanton of Michigan State and Jared Zabransky of undefeated Boise State. Auburn running back Kenny Irons, Miami tight end Greg Olsen, Notre Dame running back Darius Walker and kickers Mason Crosby of Colorado, Justin Medlock of UCLA, John Vaughn of Auburn and Andrew Wellock of Eastern Michigan. In the eight-year history of the event, 29 competitors have gone on to become first round selections in the NFL Draft. A few former participants that performed well in past College Football All-Star Challenges and went on to have glorious NFL careers were: Drew Brees, Daunte Culpepper, Edgerrin James
Today, February 7th, is the first day in college football that recruits can send in their letter-of-intents to the school that they plan to play for in 2007. As of 6:30 PM, USC currently has the #1 recruiting class in the country, followed by BCS Champion Florida, Texas, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
What does this mean for the University of Connecticut football program? Well, they ended up with the 82nd best recruiting class in the country and were the 7th best out of 8 in the Big East.
Latest Update:Â The top 5 now is Florida, LSU, USC, Texas and Tennessee. UCONN ended up with the 55th best class in the country. To see where your team is ranked, click here.
Head Coach Randy Edsall announced that he has received 25 letters of intent from his recruiting efforts for the 2007 season. There are also 4 other recruits, (Tyler Lorenzen, Aaron Bagsby, Jarell Miller, Corey Stringer), who are already enrolled at UCONN and are eligible to participate in spring practice. Here is what Edsall had
Current Mood: The Sooners beat the Huskers again! We won the big 12 championship and will be going on to play in the fiesta bowl.
I’m happy that despite the scandal involving the quarterback, the injury of one of our star players, and the Oregon debacle we are still doing so great.
I’m Sooner born and Sooner bred and when I die, I’ll be Sooner dead!
WOOHOO! Way to go Sooners!
Is there really anything more political than college football? In many ways it is more political than politics. In fact, if we ran our elections like we ran college football, there would be no need for anyone to actually vote. We would simply need a formula and the opinions of our national media members to determine who deserves to win.
Now I am what you would call sort of a depends on the situation sort of fan. Some years, I couldn't care less and other years I live or die by how my favorite teams do. This year has been sort of in between. I started out watching plenty of games. I watched Ohio State dismantle Texas and Michigan dominate Notre Dame. I even had interest in watching Auburn beat Florida rather handily while eating pizza at Old Chicago. Then when my own Golden Gophers went into a funk around the same time the election heated up, I lost interest. Well now that the Gophers are on a two game win streak and the election is over my interest was peaked again. So I spent some
One of these days, I'm finally going to activate the Sirius radio I got for Christmas last year. It only took me until this Thursday to make the trek to Best Buy to get it installed (hey, Mondesi is a busy guy!). When I got there, I was greeted by a tent village of video game nerds/entrepreneurs waiting to buy a Playstation 3 on Friday. Of course, the units are selling on ebay for $1200-$1600, so maybe they're smarter than all of us. But I digress...I really wish I had been listening to Sirius instead of subjecting myself to the double segment of Mel Kiper on The Felix and Oscar (oops, I mean "Mike and Mike") show on ESPN Radio Friday morning. To describe what was running through my head after the Kiper bit, I can only quote Adam Sandler's teach in Billy Madison after an inane, rambling book report: "Everyone is now dumber for having heard that."I've held back on my BCS thoughts, mainly because they've been so over-covered by every other sports program to this point (as if they do
I have tried to be good. I have refrained from blogging about the Gators' win all day -- even though the most recent comments have definitely taken a turn in that direction. So, my response:At approximately 12:30 yesterday, on the way to lunch, my boss asked me what I thought about my alma mater's chances of winning. I said that I thought that Ohio State was a more talented, deeper team -- and would win -- but that Florida would somehow manage to keep it a close game.Boy, was I ever wrong. Of course, I've learned several important lessons from this. First and foremost is that you should never count the Gators out in a year ending in 6. But second is that that Chris Leak gets no respect.Oh, and I still think the Boise State-Oklahoma game was WAY more exciting.
