We just happened to get two bayonets into the store at one time. The difference between the two to figure out the age is a simple one in this case. Not only do the markings on the blade identify these but the scabbards are the dead give away. The first example up there from Toledo came in a leather and metal sheath. The second, which is a Japanese model, came in a sold metal sheath. It’s a usual thing for weaponry through the antique market. The older it is usually the more basic the sheath. Leather was primarily used in the European fronts before 1920's and Wood was used for sheathing in the Asian Fronts. There are always exceptions to the rule, for example, the sheath of a noble or commander in high rank might have a metal sheath but it was a rarity as metal was in short supply and w
When posting a Lladro Figurine you have to remember three important things that the customer needs to know. First and foremost is the condition. They will have a lot of confidence in your product if a description lists the Lladro as having No Chips, Cracks, Crazing, or Repairs. Customers don't like to see dirt or scuffing in the pictures either. Second would be to take pictures in which the figurine takes up the entire screen. I've also seen a lot of lucrative auctions where there is a measuring tape within the picture. A Close up picture of the face to show whether the finish is Glossy or Matte is always a plus. Lastly a picture of the base is needed showing the customer the authenticity and the mold number. This one pictured above is a 5008 Called the Dreamer. In excellent Condition she
Quite Possibly one of the coolest type of collectables out there. Sifting through the modern stuff though and finding the authentic Vintage Coca Cola real McCoy is the tough part. Usually when we're speaking with customers we'll tell them that the starting point in age would be about 50 years. There might be some stray 60's and 70's collectables out there but most of the time the high end Coca Cola Collectables come from the 50's or before. The classic collectable would most likely be the cooler. The bottle opener right there on the side is always good to have and its a wonder why every cooler out there isn't readily equipped with this option.
We've just come across something very rare. Or we believe it is.

In the heart of downtown Vancouver, right on Granville St. you can find the Nerd Nirvana known as Golden Age Collectables. These guys carry more manga, anime, graphics novels and figures than you’d ever care to know existed. When I was in Vancouver on business recently I picked up a copy of NextWave here and blogged about how awesome it is. This place is jam-packed full of awesomeness of such magnitude as NextWave. They also had probably everything Neil Gaiman has ever written, including more obscure stuff like the edition of Sandman with art from Yoshitaka Amano. For those that don’t know; Mr. Amano was the concept artist for all the Final Fantasy games up until X. His brilliant artistry and unique style is well known in Otakudom. (more…)
