'Now we must look for mythologies of sustainability, of collaborative relationships with the earth'
From: Homo Luminous: The New Human by Alberto VilloldoThis new mythology has yet to emerge, but we have the traditions of the Earth Peoples to provide us with models of the kind of world our children's children can truly inhabit. The Earth People have an animistic relationship with all of life. Animism is practiced by people who believe they can speak to the rivers and to the trees and to the canyons and to the mountains and to God. This is what we were able to do before we were cast out of the garden. We were still in relationship with Spirit and with the natural world. Spirit is actually talking to us all the time. But we, in the west, don't open our ears to hear. If we are to find that self that still walks with beauty on the earth, that speaks to the rivers and to the trees

Google Sites offers simple tools for collaborative Web site creation
Google on Thursday plans to introduce Google Sites, a new addition to its Google Apps suite that provides simple, intuitive tools for collaborative Web site creation.Google Sites is based on the wiki technology developed by JotSpot, which Google acquired in October, 2006. The word "wiki," however, appears to have been lost during the move."We see Google Sites as bigger than a wiki," said Matthew Glotzbach, product management director of Google's enterprise group. "It's as easy to edit as a wiki, but looks as good as a Web site. ... One of the challenges of wikis, even though working with them is easier than working with HTML, is that they're built by IT for IT, and not with the end-user experience in mind."

What Could Google’s New Collaborative Maps Do For You?
Google Has Two New Map Features: Terrain Maps and Collaborative Maps. The terrain maps will certainly be of benefit to anyone who needs to present a topographic lay of the land, but the collaborative maps feature may prove to be an even more useful tool. The ability to create your own custom maps has been available from Google maps for a some time now, but these new collaboration features may result in greater benefits. Collaboration creates conversation. Invite your readers to share their favorite restaurants, places to hike, etc, and give anyone who stumbles on your map the right to add their favorites. And be sure to get specific with the map, as they do in the example in the Google announcement linked above. Or, you could decide to simply collaborate with others in your office to control the content and show off your local knowledge. The map below was created to test the collaboration tools. I’ve shared collaboration rights with two cousins and an uncle, and they can invite o

Author: Grover Maurice GodwinPaperback: 376 pagesPublisher: CRC; 1st edition (November 29, 2000)Language: EnglishISBN: 0849323584(R)Offender profiling has been developing slowly as a possible investigative tool since 1841 and the publication of Edgar Allen Poe's The Murder in the Rue Morgue. In this book, detective C. Auguste Dupin demonstrates the ability to follow the thought patterns of a companion while they stroll through Paris for 15 minutes without speaking a word. Today profiling is an important investigative tool. Nevertheless, it often represents a less than educated attempt to provide law enforcement agencies with detailed information about the behavior of an unknown individual who has committed a crime. Criminal Psychology and Forensic Technology: A Collaborative Approach to Effective Profiling introduces alternative approaches to improving the way crimes are investigated and offender profiles are generated. It shows forensic evidence experts how to wor

Review about High-Yield™ Embryology: A Collaborative Project of Medical Students and Faculty
High-Yield (TM) Embryology, Third Edition provides a concise, focused review of the most important embryology information needed for the USMLE Step 1. Chapters cover prefertilization events and the embryonic period, embryologic development of each organ system, chromosomal abnormalities, inherited diseases, teratology and more. To prepare students for the clinical vignettes on the USMLE, the book includes numerous clinical cases with words and phrases that patients use. A mini-atlas at the end of each chapter presents photographs, MRIs, CT scans, and radiographs of various congenital malformations. This book would have been very helpful for exams. Most of the other High Yield books work best when used as a supplement to a more detailed book (or as a review after you've learned the material), but this one is still pretty detailed itself, without being overwhelming. It is a great review of the essential things you need to know for the USMLE. Good pictures, great clinical correlations,

      Advertising - a collaborative approach
ON Sunday night (or rather Monday morning at 01:00 SA time) it was time for the American Super Bowl. This event is one of America’s biggest annual events. Every year companies spend millions on producing a striking advertisement to be shown on television during the Super Bowl. For the last two years GoDaddy (parent company of www.wookio.com) has grabbed the attention of audiences around the world by creating ads that are sexy and almost too hot for television. Every year millions of visitors rushed to their website to view the ads that were rejected by the television executives. This online hype has shown other companies that they would have to involve the internet community. This year various companies produced ads and then placed them online for internet users to view. They could then vote for their favourites and the ads with the most votes were shown during the Super Bowl. This is significant if you take into consideration that the average price for a ticket to attend the super b
