Back to Basics - Coffee Talk on Saturday Morning Around the Kitchen Table
Bianca has her first track meet this morning so we have to drive to somewhere I've never been, register her with money we don't have, pay to get in with more money we don't have and then sit there from 9:00 am until about 4:30 pm. (So I'm told.) This is a special track club not through the regular school track and field program and we've never done it before. Kat will be driving to yet a

Want to see the Prize? And Then Let's Get Down to Coffee Talk and Best Friends!
The Play with Your Peeps contest is almost at an end (tonight at 6:pm my time, the voting ends). And I *hoped* that the Starbucks gift card that I specially designed and ordered would get here in good time. It did! Look what came to my mailbox yesterday.... If you rotate it clockwise you will see it is designed after a Starbucks drink cup with the little boxes on the side to mark special

... ok now for coffee talk
It's Sunday morning and I have my coffee... and I'm wondering what alignment the stars and planets are in to cause stupid little back luck things to come our way for about a month now. -We had the issues with the internet going completely out for 2 weeks, the cable tv in and out (which caused us to ultimately switch from Mediacom to Qwest and Direct TV). - TWO cellphones stopped working for no

      Coffee Talk!
So much in my head this morning! Join me for hot coffee! I have the window open and there is a cool crisp breeze coming in as well. A perfect Autumn type morning with hot coffee in your hand to off set the crisp air. Breathe deep my friends... this is clean air from the heartland - not the stuff in Southern Cal that turns your nose hairs black after a day of breathing it! You call know

      Back to Basics... Coffee Talk!
Mug: White ceramic with swirls Coffee: Guatemalan You know it might be a weird day when you wake up with Menudo's 'Se Tu No Estas' running through your brain over and over again. For those of you confused, Menudo was a hot Latin band in the 80's that made it semi-big here in the states. (The band members changed out as their voices changed - and little 14 year old Ricky Martin was a member

      Monday Morning Coffee Talk
This weekend (August 4th) I was going to post a photo of beautiful Marilyn as a tiny tribute to her on the Anniversary of her death, but I was tired, in a 'funk' and could barely bring myself to blog to begin with, so today, two days late, I remember Marilyn. Today as I look at the calendar to see what the kids and husband have going on (one at a sleepover, another with back to back babysitting

Tiny, itty bitty coffee talk... just an appetizer for now
I started this post and went, "Oh, crap, it's the fourth of July. I should probably find a photo of a flag or something...." so here is my patriotic contribution for the cause; The three Coffeehaus Kids all patriotic and crap This mornings Kid Count was supposed to be six (6) but I'm a mean Mommy so it's only 4. I told one that no, his friend could just sleep at his own house for once,

      Thursday Coffee Talk
Well, this morning I don't have much to say. I woke this morning and came down to have coffee and read the news. I kept glancing at the clock and wondering why I didn't hear BabyGirl up as she told me last night she had to babysit today at 8:am. Finally at 7:54 I went to wake her. Sure enough, she overslept. Luckily she babysits just about 2 blocks away so she made it on time. That, so far

Monday Morning Coffee Talk... Come On In!
Coffee: Gevalia Traditional RoastMug: Plain white ceramic with embossed flowersMonday morning and it's finally (finally!) sinking into my brain that I have indeed, quit working at the office and am home. I don't feel the need to continually glance at the clock this morning to see if I'm running late. My heart doesn't jump in my chest thinking I've sipped coffee too long and I have to race upstairs to put on a skirt and high heels. It's finally sinking in.... just in time for me to start looking for another job! This morning as I wrote a $129 for mandatory cheerleading camp, my stomach felt as if it was going to come out through my throat. Also on my list of things to do this morning is to balance the checkbook and then wade through the bills to see what can be paid and what will have to wait. Mortgage and my truck payment are both due and frankly, my husbands paycheck isn't big enough to cover both. Resigning my position is absolutely, positively the right thing to have

      Tuesday Morning Coffee Talk
This morning should (?) I hope, be more 'normal'. You know, Coffee Talk like it was a few weeks ago before I quit work, we had Spring Break, a kazillion kids overnight all week, then the French Student was visiting... this morning I'm sitting here with my coffee and feeling the need to get back to my roots. :)Coffee: Gevalia Breakfast BlendMug: My old 'office' mug I was given as a Going Away Gift from my first office job as a Church Secretary in southern CaliforniaIt was cool to see the photos on my site this morning. I thought they were so pretty. (Although the ghost image is a bit odd... still cool though.) I love the black and white contrast much better than color. Yes, Fastastagirl, we love walking in cemeteries. It is so peaceful and relaxing and I never feel uncomfortable. We love to walk among the gravestones, looking for the oldest ones we can find, or babies or small children and try to imagine why they passed away so young. We look for the young men killed i

      Monday Morning Coffee Talk
Wow, I was pretty 'positive' in my post last night regarding Easter. I think it's because I focused on how much fun S had. As for the rest of us? It was a good day... but very 'typical' for an extended family get together.I have rewritten this post three times, as I would love to blog about it but it comes out sounding wrong.Perhaps cutting to the punch line would be the easiest place to start. (Backwards, I know). My 'Birthday' gift my mother insisted on me opening yesterday consisted of a sweater bought for my SIL, a candle bought for herself at the Dollar Store, and a birthday card made out to my other SIL (full mailing address even!).My 'Easter' gift was a small kitchen candle on clearance from Christmas and a pot holder and kitchen towel set plucked from the gift basket of my SIL who got the matching basket, towels, pot holders and kitchen lotions.I tried to give my SIL 'my' towel and pot holder before she left as it obviously came out of her basket and frankly, my k

I'm sipping my coffee, I've ate a piece of that awesome coffee cake... and I'm looking outside thinking; "I really don't feel like going to work today...." of course the difference between most of you and me is that within a week or two, I won't be. My official last day was January 31st but of course I offered to stay on while they interviewed and then I'd train the new person. Actually there are two new people. They announced last Thursday that they had hired a new 'co-worker' position and he will be starting in a couple weeks as well. One of the comments on the post below asked me for insight on kids dating. I suppose it's a little ironic that just this morning I gave permission for Coffeekid (14) to ask his crush out. The entire 8th grade has been waiting for months for me to give the nod of ok. When the kids were smaller we always said "16". Why? I don't know. Seemed like a good number. Then again, "26" seems even better. It was never really an 'issue' thoug

      Sunday Morning Coffee Talk
Coffeegirl spent the night at a friends last night, so this morning I was awakened not by a cat wanting out of her room... but a cat wanting into her room. Scratch scratch, bang! Scratch scratch scratch scratch scratch! SFC. *yawn*BabyGirl had a date last night... just out to dinner. But she was dancing on the wind she was so happy. I'm so glad.Well, I guess I've talked about the two girls, I'll feel bad if I leave Coffeekid out. Yesterday he took his drivers test for his permit. Didn't quite make it. Did great and got them all right until question 28 and said after that he was getting them wrong one after another. But he also said it didn't make sense because some of them he swears were correct. (And he explained the question to me and I chose the same answer he did!) Two of them for sure should have been correct, so I'm not sure what happened. Especially since he got them all correct until number 28. But it's a computerized touch-screen so the problem coul
