      Can Cats and Dogs Coexist?
I don't know about you, but I love both cats and dogs. I hate it when people ask "Are you a cat person or a dog person? There is no reason the two "enemies?" can't get along. Agreed, you have to supervise most of the time, at first, but give it time. My dogs love my cats now. Even the little fiesty Jack Russell plays very well with my felines. I believe the cats tolerate her, as best that a cat can, and they even let down their guard when they are around her. Here are some tips to help tabby and fido to get along:1. Don't ever sic your dog on anything. They will take it as an invitation to mull the cat too.2. Let tabby defend herself and believe me, your dog will have a new found respect for her. ( We once had a golden retriever that was scared to death of our little alley cat because he ba

Luxury & Accessibility: Do They Coexist?
If you sat back and dreamed up the most luxurious confection possible, where would you sell it? Target & H&M believe they’re making luxury goods available to the masses, but are they really? One could argue they are simply dangling the notion of luxury, without providing actual luxury products. We haven’t fully formed our thoughts, and it seems the blogosphere hasn’t either. In order to help you construct a better opinion on the subject, Coutorture has organized a Salon On Luxury & Accessibility. Ever since, the blogsophere has been abuzz with debate. Hope Robertson believes in affordable luxury, while Poetic & Chic thinks we’re being duped. Further exploring the topic, The Budget Babe delves into the psychology behind the matter, as The Runway Scoop attempts to define “luxury”. Style Eyes believes such products will become more accessible and Platinum Blonde Life believes in rapid consumption. Temptalia takes the subject a step

What Do They Mean By “Coexist”?
I am a field installation person for the company I work for. This means that I go to my shop from home and then take a company vehicle to the job-site. I travel any where from 30 minutes to 1 1/2 hours to the job-site, and then back again at the end of the day also.  I am a person who loves to read bumper stickers as I drive to kill the time. I have noticed some trends over time. Most notably the now famous 1-20-09 end of an error bumper sticker. I remember seeing my first one, not knowing what it referred to until I could catch up to the vehicle to read it. Over time I have seen more and more of these stickers, they are pretty popular now. I saw my first John Edwards ‘08 bumper sticker today on a vehicle with New Hampshire plates, this disturbs me.  A couple of months ago I saw another bumper sticker that made me speed up to read it. How print and online can coexist to increase publishing profits
The trade book publishing industry is a complicated and competitive marketplace.  This is not news.  The news is that the landscape is changing and mandating change in this centuries old business.  Traditional publishing companies are finding themselves in competition with (product) channels and information sources that weren't even on the radar screen 1, 5 or 10 years ago.  This is great for consumers, authors, and believe it or not, great for publishers!  Innovative publishers are driving innovation and leveraging Web 2.0 technologies to differentiate their product, increase publishing profit margins, and develop a long-term relationship with their readers.  In many cases, they are turning a one-time book purchase into monthly or annual recurring subscription revenue.   In her Book Business Magazine article titled Increasing Sales, One Chapter at a Time Janet Spavlik makes a great case for this evolution as it pertains to Professional Publis

Can Religion, Science & The Modern World Coexist?
At Modern Humanist we are obviously on the side of modernity.  Modernity is the very same phenomenon that fundamentalism fights against.  Science and Modernity is the battleground for this issue and has become increasingly heated and in many cases violent in recent years. One the surface one could argue that religion is tearing our world apart.  In some cases this is true.  Fundamentalism has become increasingly popular, well-funded and active.  When you combine inflexible belief, money, politics and fanaticism…well that’s just not a recipe for a yummy batch of cookies. We look around the globe and see skirmishes raging all around the globe from Iraq to India; from France to the United States; from Canada to Jakarta. But can Religion square itself with the modern world and continue to be a part of it’s future? I think it can, but it’s going to take some serious commitment and a great deal of bad blood to accomplish.  As I have stated several times on this
