BLOOMINGTON, IN, Nov. 5 - John Mellencamp, who just embarked on a six week U.S. tour this week, will be performing a series of Canadian dates, across six provinces, in February 2008. Mellencamp will be joined on the bill by Canada's own Tom Cochrane & Red Rider for a total of 12 performance dates that kick off on February 1 in Montreal. The tour goes on to Ontario for dates in Ottawa, London, Toronto, and Sault Ste. Marie. These will be followed by concerts in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Red Deer, and Calgary, with the last three dates on the Pacific Coast in Kelowna, Vancouver, and Victoria.Mellencamp noted, "We're very excited about playing these dates with Tom for our friends across Canada. We've incorporated some interesting innovations in terms of staging and lighting that are working out very well for us on the current tour that we'll be bringing along. But, of course, what's most important, the essence of these shows, is the music and the songs."Tom Cochrane commented, "We wil

Rory Cochrane CSI: MIAMI return - SPOILER
Just in from TV Guide’s Ausiello Report, it seems that Rory Cochrane will be back on CSI: MIAMI (as previously talked about) as his supposedly dead character Tim Speedle! All I can say is how the hell are they going to pull that off??? The guy is dead. He was shot, we all saw it. Unless of course, as I mentioned before, he comes back as a vision or something like that. I have a funny feeling however that it’s not what the writers have planned. Well, now I really have to tune in to check this out!

Rory Cochrane back on CSI: MIAMI
According to TV Guide’s Ausiello Report, Rory Cochrane, whose character Tim Speedle had been killed off CSI:Miami, will be back on CSI: MIAMI. He will be appearing in multiple episodes this new season, first appearing in the second episode of the season. No word on whether Rory Cochran will be back as Tim or as a new character yet. First of all I would like to say that I was really upset when his character died on CSI: Miami because he was one of my favorites. Later on I stopped watching the show altogether (not only because he left, but because the show didn’t appeal to me as much). Now that they want to bring him back, I might have to tune in and check out the second episode of the season. Second, I really hope they will bring him back as a new character because there is no way to explain the return of Tim, no way for him to have survived, except if they introduce him as a vision or hallucination (or something like that) OR they could bring him as Tim’s twin brot

UPDATED COCHRANE REVIEW USED TO BASH VITAMIN C SUPPLEMENTATION
A press statement issued yesterday, pre-empting the release of an updated review by the medical review group, the Cochrane Collaboration, has precipitated headlines around the world such as “Vitamin C does not stop colds”. The Alliance for Natural Health (ANH) challenges this interpretation and says that this is little more than another cynical attempt to attack high dose vitamin C supplementation. Dr Robert Verkerk, executive director of the ANH says, “These headlines have been triggered by a small update to an existing review that does not reflect any significant new research findings. The review maintains all the flaws of the original Cochrane review on vitamin C and the common cold, as published in 2004. This boils down to the blatant misuse of a minor update of a review to make a major news story that is anti-natural health.” Claims that vitamin C is ineffective against the common cold lack scientific foundation. The Cochrane reports on vitamin C are fundamentally flawed

      Deathmatch Kirkpatrick VS Cochrane
Inflammatory title I know, but there appears to be no love lost between Marshall Kirkpatrick of SplashCast and Todd “The Geek” Cochrane of Geek News Central. This started heating up between these two after Todd started hammering SplashCast for hijacking RSS feeds. Things became a little more bitchy yesterday after Todd wrote a post complaining that Google Buying FeedBurner is pure evil. Have people really thought about the ramifications of this? Google will not only know what you search for, what ads you click on but they will also know EXACTLY what you are subscribed to at a very intimate level. Anyway Todd’s post drew some comments including this simple little comment from Marshall: Nice MyBlogLog widget over in that sidebar. Now it’s well know that the MBL widget tracks a lot of what users do on your site. Some folks have gone as far as to say that real reason Yahoo purchased MyBlogLog was to get hold of the MBL widget and track Google AdSense click

Peter Cochrane’s Blog: We need multiple biometrics
Have you noticed how easy it is to recognise a friend or loved one at a distance? How do we do that? For sure it isn’t on the basis of a single parameter recognition system. We don’t look at the face alone, which may be indistinguishable or even turned away from us. We [...]
