Lindsay Lohan turned the big twenty-two yesterday. If you felt the Earth vibrate last night, it was probably the vibrational fallout from this party girl’s shindig. I was going to send her a present, but apparently they don’t let you send a cocaine and adderall in the mail.

Smart Style: Summer Coats and Jackets
Maybe it's global warming, out  here in L.A. it will be 100 degrees during the day and down to the 50's at night. And when you're still out and about and the mercury drops, "Darn, wish I had (a) my jacket!" Jacket and coats are an all year affair. If you only have coats for winter or fall, it wouldn't hurt to invest on a spring / summer jacket.  This summer look for light fabri

      Timeless Chic: Trench Coats
Aside from the ever famous little black dress, Trench Coats can never be out of fashion! These fashionable coats are versatile enough to pair with simple jeans or even an evening gown, the tailored piece is favored by many of today's VIP fashionistas. But did you know that the first Trench Coat was created by Thomas Burberry?! Sounds familiar, yeah right! He's the founder of the British luxury fashion house, Burberry.I dream of having a Trench Coat but it seems impossible 'coz it's just so hot here in the Philippines and it's silly wearing a coat in the middle of the tropic heat. But for those who are in the cold areas of the world, try to figure out how to wear yours -- be it cropped, long, or in navy blue -- take cues from these trench-loving trendsetters. How Do Top Coats For Nails Work?
Top coats can be worn over your favorite fashions in bad weather to cover your clothes.  They can also be worn on your nails to protect that expensive mani/pedi you treated yourself to recently.  In essence top coats for nails work in a similar fashion to the coat variety.  They cover the last color application and work to guard it against chips, smudges or other appropriate nail endangerments.

      Late Season Coats...by Request
Yesterday I found a comment from my Aunt Eva (cute, huh!) on my blog.  She loved the Lego Venice, but also had a question about finding a good winter coat.  She's going to a winter carnival and needs a very warm, yet fashionable coat.  Midwestern winters are pretty harsh, so to stay warm it's important to find a coat that's made of warm material and long enough to protect your body from the elements properly (a short jacket might be cute, but cold winds will make you pay).  Luckily, it's late in the season, so many coats are on sale!I've found three great options online today that might fit the bill. Check them out!I bought this coat with a Thinsulate lining which really helps keep me warm.  The high neck blocks a lot of cold air too.  It&#

      moncler down jackets and coats
From a ski and recreation sports clothing line in the 70s, Moncler became the uniform and the most sought-after, not to mention most expensive item, of the young Italian fashion craze of the 80s.The first paninari (that's how the people that followed this specific fashion were called) started appearing around 1983, in Milan, and they were all about wearing only the best (and most expensive) brands on the market.Soon enough all the kids in Italy wanted, amongst many other brands, Timberland Boots, Levi's Jeans, and Moncler Down Jackets.Of course, I couldn't resist the call of fashion, and at 14 years old I was able to convince my father to buy me a pair of Timberland shoes that were so expensive (at least for the small town I was from) that all my neighbors knew about them. But I never got my hands on a Moncler down jacket. It was just way too expensive! I bought the Levi's, the Naj-Oleari, the Best Company... but the Moncler escaped me.And when in the late 80s, the paninari started

      Statement-making Coats
So winter's in full swing. We all want different styles of coats unlike in the old days when women had one big ol' plain coat to carry them through all winter and they looked the same for months. How drab is that?! The designers have come up with statement-making coats this season and we definitely need a few different styles, right ladies? Here are some great tips from Clare Coulson of Telegraph who explains why one coat is not enough for this year and what to look for in a great coat.TIPS FOR BUYING Technicolor dream coats:• Rich colours are popular this season, but choose something with longevity. By next year royal blue may look a bit passé, while something more classic such as claret will stand the test of time.• Your coat should match the dominant silhouette of your wardrobe. Don't buy a mid-length one if you regularly wear calf-length skirts.• Texture can make your coat look more luxurious than it really is; look for brushed mohairs and rich bouclés.• Factor in

Coats & Jackets: Top 5 Sweater Jackets
The term “comfort clothing” usually brings to mind oversized pieces and unflattering silhouettes, with visions of big, shapeless t-shirts and floppy velour sweatsuits.  But, this season, there’s a new way to be comfy… and chic.  One of my favorite fall/winter trends is the sweater jacket, which offers all the perks of a sweater (the cozy knit hug affect) and all the benefits of a blazer (the tailored, put together affect). A sweater jacket works the same way a blazer does, so pair one with everything from jeans to dress pants and skirts.  They also add a little something to slim-fitting dresses. Leather Coats Are American Icons
By: Deon Melchior Wearing a leather coat, for many Americans, is a rite of passage. It is a means to achieve a level of cool. It is a method for minor teenage rebellion, as leather coats are associated with biker gangs, tough men, and greasers. It is also a way that designers can convey a sense of richness and boldness. Leather has been a part of the American landscape for centuries, with early pioneers wearing nubuck and other leather coats. Cowboys later became the primary wearers of leather coats, sporting the look from a practical standpoint, because leather is a protective covering over the skin, helping keep those in dangerous lines of work free from abrasions and other injuries.Leather morphed, over time, into a purely fashion statement. Leather is now on the runway in almost every designer's collection. Leather has an "edge" that designers look for, in part based on the roots of leather coats in the United States.Leather coats also speak of strength. Bomber jackets were worn b

      White Coats and Butterfly Nets
A hypothetical situation - imagine the following for a second:April 19, 1940. Liberal Party leader and Prime Minister MacKenzie-King introduced a motion that would set a deadline for removing Canadian troops from Europe by February, 1942. Citing the need for 'direction' in our fight against the oppressive enemy, MacKenzie-King also called for less direct military involvement by Canadian forces, and an immediate increase in the area of 'rebuilding' and 'reconstruction' - once things stop getting blown up, of course.Of course, this never happened. Our troops fought on, focused on winning today's battle and living to fight tomorrow. They didn't worry about defeating the enemy before the due date on the war expired. Stephane Dion, with his call for the official 'withdrawal with honour' (explain that one to me) of Canadian troops from Afghanistan before 2009 isn't bad politics or misguided policy - it's evidence that Mr. Dion is fucking nuts. Coats for Greyhounds in the Cold Months
Most people think we are crazy when we go outside in the cold weather with coats on the dogs. They think we just do it for them to look cute. But that is far from the case. Anytime it gets below about 25 degrees we put coats on the dogs if they are going to be out longer than just using the bathroom. This is because greyhounds have very little body fat to keep them warm and very little fur also. The rule of thumb with these guys is if you are too cold to be outside then so is your greyhound. Here are pictures of Caddy and Bruno in their very stylish winter coats. These both have detachable snoods to keep their head and neck warm. These coats are a lightweight fleece material good for small amounts of time outside. There are coats available that are of much thicker material and weather proof if you are planning on having your dog out for longer periods of time. Caddy never liked wearing her coat. Fashion Week's Hottest Coats, Couture in the City Fashion Blog
From Left: Jason Wu, Michael Kors, Nanette Lepore, J. Mendel, Venexiana (source)Did they get the memo? This year, fur was the end-all-be-all for coats in almost every collection. Whether as full on trim like on this fab coat from Venexiana or just as a subtle touch, like on the Jason Wu coat, its showing up on every catwalk. However, this could serve as problematic as far as sales go for designers...with more and more celebs and consumers becoming outspoken against fur, these coats may not have a market to be bought it. Former model and television show host Tyra Banks prefers faux, and designers like Stella McCartney have been known to keep their lines fur free. What's your stance on the whole faux vs. fur debate? Is it fashion, or cruelty?Tags:fur coats fashion week fashion blog

Except in the winter. During the winter, doing the laundry is more fun than Helsingborg. Try doing your laundry in Helsingborg in the winter. Before you start thinking that I've started working for the Swedish Tourist

Anyone make dog coats or collars? posted by Kimmysue
This is what got me sewing. I make custom dog coats and speciality collars. The coats are out of fleece and the collars are out of webbing and fleece with velcro. I just bought some patterns for regular collars and leashes out of cotton material and wonderunder. I make them mostly for my dogs (we have 6) but do sell a few here and there. Just wondering if anyone else made anything like this.
