Cloning is often one of those tasks of necessity that we like to keep to a minimum. It’s a technique that’s hard to do well, and even harder to master. But this post isn’t about how to use Photoshop’s Clone tool — it’s about how to use it non-destructively and in a manner that offers more control over your image.
What do I mean by “non-destructive” cloning? Well… cloning is destructive in nature, meaning that it changes pixels. When you change the pixels, you can’t get the original ones back. Destructive editing is worth avoiding because it takes away your ability to change your mind or adjust the edit at a later date.
So open up Photoshop, pull in a photo that needs a little cloning, and follow along. By the way, when you see something in parentheses (like this), that means it’s a Photoshop keyboard shortcut.

I love shortcuts, and this one is very good. Chun-Ming Liu of Plant Research International has a number of molecular biology protocols on his website, but my favourite is his One Tube PCR Cloning Method. The protocol involves simply putting the vector, insert, restriction enzyme, ligase (and in his case polymerase for polishing the ends) into one tube, incubating at 16°C for 2 days and then transforming. One of the most crucial steps in any cloning procedure is the preparation of the vector. Get it wrong and your chances of success will be drastically reduced. The overall aim for a good vector preparation is to obtain a fairly concentrated stock of undamaged, fully digested plasmid DNA that is free from contaminants. If I could clone all my Saturday classes.....My week would be a touch easier. The J.H. students. ( not pictured due to shyness ) are moving so fast that my adult lessons are not enough anymore. I have heard that the ability to obtain/retain a second language becomes 50% more difficult after the age of 11/12. Due to the maturation of that part of the brain.I 100% believe that because I see the proof on a daily basis. 7-18yr olds move at a blazing pace that adults cannot match. I get little satisfaction when teaching adults who enjoy English as a "hobby". I had a class ask me to stop administering tests to them. It was too difficult. A smaller game gets a smaller review. Nothing against the game, but since its more simple in nature, it will just save me from my verbosity if I keep Xbox Live Arcade Game reviews shorter. Since this is the FIRST! xbox Live arcade review I have to set precedent, even though I will be using the same scale. So onto the review....Cloning Clyde is a really quirky and fun platform/puzzle game. Basically, Clyde has been the subject of some screwy cloning and DNA experiments and Clyde (all of em) want to escape. Each Level involves moving your clyde to the exit in typical platform fashion. To complete a level 100% you have to get all of the cloned copies to safety and collect all the Killer Kenn Dolls.Gameplay: 8/10Pros: Like most Xbox Live games, the gameplay is simple and easy to pick up and play. Changing a Clyde into a chicken clyde, frog, sheep, etc. is the best part of the gameplay because it gives him different powers and is just a riot. The co-op mode is quite sufficient as w
