Msconfig (Microsoft System Configuration Utility) is a small tool included with most Windows Operating Systems which allows you to enable or disable auto-start Programs and Services. When you type Msconfig into the Run box it opens the program allowing you to stop unnecessary programs from always starting with Windows. However it does not allow you to completely remove an entry from the list. It only removes the check from the box leaving a useless entry in your Registry. My poor basement has found itself for the last few months to be the repository of a massive amount of computer equipment as I have gathered it from all corners of the globe, dumped it there, and promptly ignored it while life flew by me in a fit of fury. Both eastbound lanes are blocked and traffic is slowly maneuvering past the crash in the eastbound acceleration lane. A four-to-five mile backup is reported on I-64 in the eastbound lanes.Traffic on Route 29 has also been slowed due to the location of the crash.After the truck’s load of mirror glass is unloaded the truck will be righted and then towed off the interstate. Eastbound traffic on I-64 will be stopped during the operation to right the tractor-trailerIt is estimated that the cleanup and removal will take another two to three hours. Motorists are advised to expect delays on I-64 East as well as on Route 29 both North and South in the vicinity of the I-64 interch

Kathleen Sebelius expressed concern that rescue and recovery efforts were being strained because much of the needed equipment has been sent to Iraq."When the troops get deployed, the equipment goes with them. So here in Kansas about 50 percent of our trucks are gone. We need trucks. We are missing Humvees, we're missing all kinds of equipment that could help us respond in this kind of emergency," she said.Sebelius said city and county trucks were destroyed in the storm."National Guard are our first responders. They don't have the equipment they need to come in, and it'll just make it that much slower," she said.

Today i used the Windows XP Cleanup tool (Accessible from Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools || Disk Cleanup) for doing some cleanup in a relatively new PC i own.
The Disk Cleanup process seemed to be stuck in the “Compress Old Files” phase. I got the following message:
Disk Cleanup is calculating how much space you will be able to free on (C:).
This may take a few minutes to complete.

There’s a good old trick i have used many times to speed things up.
Note: as the implementation involves deleting a registry key - make sure you have do a backup of your registry first.

So I decided to post about this project for those that might not have heard about it and to bring more attention to this worthy project.The Great American Cleanup is a project of the Keep America Beautiful Organization. Executive director Jan Dapitan runs the Maui Community Work Day Program called "Hapai Ia Ka Hana Malama Aina."Keep America Beautiful is a nation- wide volunteer-based community action and education program. Around 2.5 million people are expected to volunteer their time this year to beautify, clean, and improve their existing communities. On Maui there were 994 volunteers in 2006 who worked on "native plant restoration, beach maintenance, access clearing, roadside rubbish removal and much more." According to MLB.com, Marlins OF Josh Willingham is preparing for his role as a cleanup hitter this season. He will follow slugger Miguel Cabrera in Florida's lineup this season.
