There's a great book on the market, "Clark Gable: Tormented Star" by David Bret. Don't let the title fool you. Clark wasn't tormented by a longshot. I've been reading it the past few days. It's juicier than a Sunkist factory and blows the lid right off Old Hollywood. I always knew that Howard Strickling, the infamous PR Head Honcho at MGM, spent a lot of his time covering up various pecadillos in Hollywood, but I didn't have any clue that most of them involved...well, I'll stop there because I don't want to spoil all the surprises in this book, but I highly recommend it! The National Enquirer is tame by comparison.The best quote to come from the book so far is that Carole Lombard said the "B" in Louis B. Mayer's name "stood for Bastard." This alarmingly limited 12″ from Chris Clark finds the producer shifting away from the complex melodic electronics of ‘Body Riddle’ and, instead, honing his talents as a more dancefloor centric producer across four tracks of meticulous sound design and economical beat devastation. “See See” bursts into life with some utterly frazzled electro stylings, situated somewhere between Bitstream’s tangled-wire drum programming and Team Doyobi’s crispy digital mayhem. “Dirty Pixie” sounds like it’s belting out at the wrong speed, propped up by beats that are positively falling over themselves. The B-side only proves to sustain this tone of finely tuned excess, with “Kin Griff” dropping the heaviest of snares before erupting in Aphex-style breakbeats. Easily an outstanding 12″, and hopefully an indicator of the sort of material lined up for Clark’s forthcoming album, due in the new year.

Mary Higgins Clark is definitely a great thriller writer. The story in I Heard That Song Before is built in a simple classic thriller's setting: an old mansion, a handsome rich man, a new bride, an old care taker, a loyal servant, a stepmother, a stepbrother, and a few murders.
Although the setting is very classical, she has the skill of making the story very interesting with many plots. A good thriller will let readers ponder who is the killer until the last minute. This definitely fit into this criterion.
I read the audio book version, when commuting between work and home - only 20 min max per trip. Every time when I arrive at my destination, I couldn't make myself leave my car, and I couldn't wait to drive again so that I could continue the story. It is that engaging! A true page turner!
The narrator, Jan Maxwell, is also a great performer. I have to admit my mistake being prejudice on female narrator earlier. In my other book review, I was so pleased with the audio
Tonight on "Smallville," I was mildly surprised when Kent offered to help Lana take down Lex. But I accepted it. I did get a vibe that he was different somehow, but I thought, "He seems cooler, all right, cool." Then I was more than mildly surprised when he flew inside the Daily Planet. But I guessed that either I had missed that development where now he can fly, or his training at the North Pole with Santa was starting to pay off, or maybe he just jumped, and didn't fly at all.Then at the end, it turns out he's Bizarro Clark!The real Clark is frozen in his Fortress. I just hope "Smallville" doesn't fall apart like "Lois and Clark," where clones kept popping up left and right. That got boring. And sad. And they stopped broadcasting the episodes in order, so I could keep track! How lame was that... Thank you "Smallville," for learning from history's mistakes!

The Clark County Court House
Following the tradition of other county court houses in Nevada the original and elegant Clark County Court House stood as a piece of civic pride in Las Vegas. It was designed by prominent Nevada architect Frederick J. DeLongchamps (1882-1969) whose record of architectural achievements can be viewed at the University of Nevada Reno Library Special Collections. The court house was designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style and situated in the center of the courthouse square on Second and Carson. When the original city grid was conceived the courthouse square was set aside by the Salt Lake, San Pedro and Los Angeles Railroad to be used for civic uses. The court house was completed in 1914.
