Sometimes it is really nice to know there are people out there that are really smart yet they read this blog despite being so intelligent. Seriously, what is a writer for PBS doing on a blog about tailgating? Well, apparently Simon Owens reads TailgatingIdeas.com (or at the very least, one blog post on here) and [...]
I want to call your attention to the comments (thank you readers) on today's post about acronyms and initialisms. I have added another comment that might help make the post a bit clearer, or it might not.
Perhaps my latetst poll needs some more explanation (apart from what we did in this post).
First of all, the question (how many infrastructures do we need?) relates to access networks, be it fixed or mobile.
Next, it requires a sort of high-level view of competition. OPTA says "two is not enough", referring to a telco/cableco duopoly. So then, how many networks will suffice? Or will just
Lots of activities happened last week w.r.t my image which was published in Times Of India without permission[Details]. I was on a kind of vacation and couldn’t update my readers promptly. I received a few emails today about my previous post about Food Addiction. In response to Kathy, I never would deliberately hurt anyone's feelings in this community. The word juvenile diabetes is not so commonly used, as it is now known as type1 diabetes’s.People who suffer form juvenile diabetes do not have nay insulin and that is why they have no choice but to use insulin. The reason why this type1 diabetes or juvenile diabetes is such a major worry for medics is because it causes more damage than its counterpart type2 diabetes. There is nothing that can b

Two things I want to be sure are clear before I go any further with the story.First off, I was not upset that Daniel was leaving because Jesse and I had wanted to keep him. We got into foster care with the clear intent to never adopt. In fact, I had told our placement worker to never send us a child who would need to be adopted because we would not do it. Foster care was supposed to be a temporary

My post from this morning seems, after going back and reading it this evening, a bit ambiguous with regards to my actual point. The new MCF has raised a lot of questions among all insurers. Though there was discussion among the GIA committees since months back, but a lot of grey areas and doubts still lingered on the minds of insurers from what I heard.

A WINDOW INTO RACISM IN AMERICA, 2008Jimmy ZI am glad that A Newt One is shaking things up. As I told my friend The Knight, I do not desire to be controversial for the sake of causing controversy. But the truth is by and of itself controversial, and many people are upset by the truth - that's for sure.I wrote a ten item list in response to the demands issued online by a group of black Americans. Their list infuriated me. I wrote in my piece exactly where one could go to retrieve their list and give my list context.Apparently, no one wanted to do that. Fair enough; I cannot force A Newt One's readers to do their follow up. Hell, for many years now, I could not force the leftwing democrats in the evil left wing chat room to do their follow up either. Some folks don't want context; it's

Maybe we earned too much from Adsense from well-blended ads, especially when you have read all the tips from my blog. Because of that, Google needs to take some measures to stop this kind of ads blending, and made some clarifications on this issue. So, webmasters, bear in mind of the following points, or your Adsense account will be at risk.1. Ads shouldn't be placed under a title or section heading in a way that implies that the ads are not ads.As the title implies, you should never place a ad block immediately below a post title/heading. For example, ads shouldn't be placed under titles such as "Dallas Business Opportunities" or "Today's Hot Deals". Placing ads directly below titles such as these implies to your users that the links in the ads are publisher-created content. The example b
Iran’s leaders are once again displaying their usual intransigence concerning Iran’s nuclear and uranium enrichment programs. They have refused Security Council and European attempts to engage them in a new round of negotiations despite the new round of sanctions and offers of sweetened incentives. And they continue to play the IAEA card without providing any real insights into their accelerating nuclear programs. This refusal to engage in any meaningful dialogue on their nuclear program,...(read more)

It has been brought to our attention that our last post was a bit unclear and the fact that we were recommending 'BadCreditOffers.com' wasn't made clear enough, and rightfully so. We apologize for any misunderstanding and never want to recommend a product or service without being clear that we may receive advertising revenue or income for doing so. Many times we recommend many different products and/or services, most times without receiving any income for doing so. However, we need to be more clear when the chance of income is possible. Therefore our last post and the recommendation to re-build one's credit, is a recommendation for the services offered by one of the nation's leading companies in the credit rebuilding industry 'BadCreditOffers.com'. I've been a bit spacey the last few days and have had it oh so kindly pointed out to me that certain details were lacking in my last two posts. Being the sweet, generous woman I am, I decided to clarify a few things.1) Regarding Anne: I have read Anne of Green Gables now. In fact, I read the entire series once a year. I find it uplifting and inspiring, and I think Anne is a lovely role model for a stay at home mom like me. So smitten am I with Anne, that Emma's middle name is, well, Ann. Without an 'e', though. A travesty the likes of which has rarely been seen. You see, with a last name like VanderHorst to carry through life, we figured the shorter the middle name the better. Okay, that's a lame reason, but I was still loopy from the epidural when we filled out the paperwork.2) Regarding epidurals: Never. Again.3) Regarding: How I could possibly consider giving up the view from this house. I am seriously, seriously torn about this. 50/50, right down the middle. I love the view fr
I wrote a post a while ago about addressing 'selling out' and Paolini and apparently the people at Anti-shurtugal discovered it yesterday and linked it. I think some of the may have misunderstood what I was saying, or thought that when I said I would sell out like Paolini that I would sacrifice personal integrity to write popcorn fiction that has no literary value. So, I think I need to clarify what I meant by that post. When I say that I would sell out like Paolini, I would never intentionally write something to the market. I only write what I enjoy and will never do anything different. Even if I were to write popcorn fiction, it would never be stuff I don't enjoy, but it would always be something that would be a fun exercise for me. I don't consider myself to be a great writer, and maybe some people would argue with me over that, but I certainly have no intention of simply writing junk for the sake of getting published. Yes, I want to be published, and I would love to make l
Why did I write in yesterday's post the clarification that I do not support a pardon for Yigal Amir?It is just that I myself I'm shaped by the football character of political discourse, that I feared that passing criticism on those who protested against him, and esp. passing criticism on those who portray him as inhuman, might be understood that I subscribe to the preposterous campaign for his pardon.I reserve the right to denounce the murder, and at the same time not describe Rabin as a saint. I reserve the right to criticize Rabin, and at the same time contend that his second government was probably the best in Israeli history. I reserve the right to oppose vengeful comments on Amir's family, without this implying the slightest indication of endorsement of his views and obviously not of the murder.
Just so I don't get people gloating about the obvious imperfections of the image below, I am going to confront some issues head on. Yes, I am aware that black holes suck in, and white holes are still "speculatory". Regardless, I get quite flustered when people feel they can just point out these obvious imperfections just make themselves feel a bit bigger for a few seconds.Besides, I didn't even draw the pic, I just think its awesome.So...just ponder on it for a moment, and compare the image to the natural functions of the human mind, and wonder if your tearing this planet in half too....
An elderly couple after long dating period decided to get married. For pre-wedding settlement on finances, cost contribution, memories of prior spouses etc. they went to candle light dinner in a fine restaurant.Topic now was on their physical relationship.'How do you feel about sex?' old dirty man had to ask. 'Well,' she said, responding thoughtfully not to turn away the opportunity,'I'd have to say - I would like it infrequently. 'The puzzled old man looked her in the eye and asked"I'd have to ask - Is that 'in-frequently' one word or two?'
The other day I ranted about infant cold medicines being recalled because of accidental misuse. My understanding at that time was that children had died because some adult could not properly read the bottle and figure out the correct amount of medication to give their child or the infant was given medication when they weren’t even sick. Yes, some of the deaths related to cold medication reported last year were because of those exact reasons. But not all.
Cough suppressants that are effective for adults may not work on children. Even worse is that these antitussive agents may actually be harmful for small children and infants.
The ability of an infant’s body to metabolize these medications varies. For some their bodies cannot break down the medication as effectively or quickly as an older child or adult. Thus by continuing to administer the cold medication over the course of a few days the drug builds up in their system and eventually leads to intoxication. In simple
Subprime Crisis
To start off, I think its important to clarify the vague over simplifications you hear in the news describing the "Subprime Crisis" or the "Credit Crunch." The story begins with commission hungry brokers and ends with consumers struggling to keep their homes as their adjustable rate mortgages (ARMs) begin to reset after their teaser rate period expires. After a quick look at the players in the lending industry it becomes clear what happened to the Subprime market.
Subprime Market
Subprime lending is typically for borrowers that have lower credit scores and do not qualify for prime rates. Understandably, the bank requires a higher interest payment for taking on a higher risk of default. Now as a borrower, if you wanted a loan you would seek out a broker that works with the loan originator (local bank branch) to close your loan. Keep in mind that most brokers are paid on commission for loans that they close. The approval and submission of loans that may not be credi

AT&T has asked the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to clarify its ruling from last week in overturning an injunction that had allowed the AT&T logos on the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing car. Part of the Aug. 13 ruling indicates that the entire case should be dismissed, and AT&T is asking for clarification on whether the entire case should be dismissed or whether only the portion of the case that deals with breach of contract be dismissed. NASCAR and Sprint, which has joined the suit, believe the entire case should be dismissed, and U.S. District Court Judge Marvin Shoob indicated to both parties that if there was no clarification from the appeals court, he would be compelled to dismiss all of the claims, according to court documents filed by AT&T. "Although the context and posture of this appeal indicate that the Court [of Appeals] could not have intended to require dismissal of the entire case, the Court should grant rehearing on this poin
A client today was telling me about their life insurance policy that was good until 2064. That would be to her age 95. She, like so many people, are really not quite clear on what they have.
In her case she had a 30 year term policy. The guaranteed level premium period went to 2032. After that, while the prices were guaranteed, they were guaranteed to go up substantially every year. By 2060 she would be paying nearly as much a year as the $600,000 death benefit.
Ok, I don’t want anyone left out on this. So, when you get home today, and I mean everyone in the US who has a life insurance policy, pull it out. I don’t care if it’s universal life, whole life, or term insurance. Pull it out and find out how long the premium is guaranteed to remain level.
Bottom line. I hope everyone really does this. It’s can be critical. If you can’t figure it out, call an independent agent to help you research it. If you figure it out too late, you could lose your insurance.
Braunworth, Basilica Cardinale Cathedral
Received a comment from Cardinal. This is what he had written to me:
Hi Peacebella. This is Cardinal Sin from Second Life, the person who built the Basilica Cardinale in Braunworth. I just wanted to thank you for your glowing review; I’m very pleased you enjoyed the cathedral!
I just wanted to point out one small error, however, from this page: http://www.peacebella.com/2007/07/29/st-benedicts-monastery/
Just so we are clear, the St. Benedict build has no affiliation with my project; I’m not sure where the connection was made that the two builds were made by the same person or group, but it’s something I’d rather be clear on right away that these two places have no link whatsoever to each other.
Thanks again and have a great day.

This from Mark Hebert at WHAS TV.Whew!!!! My head is spinning from the all of the lobbying for a couple of candidates for INTERIM, yes INTERIM state school commissioner job. Not the full time job, just the part time one until a governor is elected in November and the Kentucky Board of Education has regained its footing. Here's what's going on. A number of conservative groups, including the Family Foundation are pushing Penny Sanders for the interim job. Sanders was the first head of the Office of Education Accountability when it was formed as part of KERA in 1991. Sanders stepped on plenty of toes, including some state lawmakers who were trying to protect their local school boards and superintendents who Sanders' crew caught misspending and making illegal hires......One of the conservatives who's apparently in Sanders' corner is state Sen. Gary Tapp (R) Shelbyville. Tapp has made at least one phone call, that I'm aware of, to a political insider, asking for help in torpedoing the
I make a positive statement about Ted Rall, and then he's back to beating his infuriating dead horse of cartooning provocative things about soldiers, the U.S. and its foreign policy, etc.Malkin's about to lose it. Her commenters are upset in the expected ways, name calling, claiming emotional injury, disgusted with him and the New York Times. One posted a link to Cox & Forkum's take on Rall, which seems fair to me.Me? I'm never amused when one side vilifies another. Not when Rall does it. Not when his critics do it.It's more than coping with my coming from old Southern families who were slaveholders. We had a couple of abolitionist aunts who wrote in cringing detail about the reality of slavery and the dehumanization used moment to moment by that culture. Their words, and those of others, ring in my ears. On top of that I was continually exposed to the hyper Shoah-awareness of the people around me growing up in NYC.Vigilance against dehumanizing is part of my fiber. I can't stom
I recently wondered aloud whether the regulations governing the selection of the new Deputy and Associate Commissioners at KDE carried different requirements than those required of local school districts.Turns out...they are different.KDE Communications Director Lisa Gross explains the process:Since the jobs are not under the state 18A (merit/classified) system, they do not have to be posted.Non-18A positions such as these serve at the pleasure of the Governor, and applicants are selected by the relevant state agencies. The positions were advertised in large Kentucky media markets and regional and national education publications. We advertised the positions beginning a couple of weeks after each person who'd held the position told the interim commissioner that she was leaving. The relevant KRS are 18A.115 and 18A.155. Relevant KARs include 101 KAR 3:015, 3:045 and 3:050.The successful candidates were selected by an interview committee made up primarily of internal leadership staff. The
After watching the Senator's press conference, I can now see why John Muckler was released from his GM duties.1. Bryan Murray's contract had expired and Eugene Melnyk decided that NOW was the time to promote him and change paths. Melnyk mentioned signing Murray to a long-term deal as a GM at this point.2. There were conflicts of opinion. The unability of Muckler to bring Gary Roberts to Ottawa at the trade deadline was brought up and mentioned as a 'disappointment' by Melnyk. The owner said that was not a deciding factor. But really, I'm sure it played a role in it.Muckler's ripe old age of 73 was not a factor in the decision.Murray discussed that he would like to obtain some size, or bigger players at certain positions this summer. It's a business. For Melnyk to say that he had not thought of promoting Murray recently was a lie, and was said to not hurt Muckler's feelings. As many of us know that Google Adsense program policies prohibits any means of encouraging users to click on Google ads or bringing excessive attention to ad units, adding to its previous clarification on placing images next to Adsense Ads they have clarified on few more guidelines for the AdSense for content and AdSense for search ads. Phrases such as "click the ads," "support our sponsors," "visit these recommended links," or other similar language that could apply to the Google ads on your site is not allowled. Which means publishers are not permitted to label the Google ads with text other than "sponsored links" or "advertisements." This is beacuse for most AdSense for content and AdSense for search ads are served on a cost per click (CPC) or cost per thousand impression (CPM) basis. It's generally harder for an advertiser to decide on a CPC/CPM value than it is to decide on a Cost per Action CPA (like in Google Referral program) value because multiple factors go into deciding the
I had a comment about my piece ‘Oh Sweet Jesus?’ and stated that I lacked conceptual depth; what was the intention of the artist in making the statue? She may be right; I was not entirely specific on the intentions of the artist and could have gone into more detail about what the controversy was really about. Let’s hope my second time around can answer the questions and add clarity to the story.
When announcements of the exhibit went out they stated it could be viewed from the street from midnight to 1am and 6pm to 7pm; starting April 1st and closing April 7th. According to the Catholic League news release on their website one title Naked Jesus-Genitals Exposed-Crucified dated March 29th Bill Donohue, head of watchdog Catholic League, wrote this about the statue. “As I’ve said many times before, Lent is the season for non-believers to sow seeds of doubt about Jesus. Singapore wants clarification of published remarks by an Indonesian official that Jakarta will ban the export of granite to the city-state, the foreign ministry here said. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement issued late Friday it was confused by remarks of Indonesian State Minister of Environment Rachmat Witoelar carried in the Batam Pos newspaper on Wednesday.Witoelar reportedly said that the Indonesian government will issue a regulation banning the export of "granite and materials" to Singapore and that the proposal has been approved at the cabinet level.

Can I place small images next to my Google ads?
We ask that publishers not line up images and ads in a way that suggests a relationship between the images and the ads. If your visitors believe that the images and the ads are directly associated, or that the advertiser is offering the exact item found in the neighboring image, they may click the ad expecting to find something that isn’t actually being offered. That’s not a good experience for users or advertisers.
Publishers should also be careful to avoid similar implementations that people could find misleading. For instance, if your site contains a directory of Flash games, you should not format the ads to mimic the game
I have been jumped over writing this paragraph in a post from yesterday... not neccesarily unfairly since it was poorly written. That happens when you post 30+ posts a week, and many times start and stop one post several times.
The last time the Democrats gained seats in a sixth year was when Ronald Reagan was President. They spent the next two years investigating this and that and basically trying to make life hell on Reagan. In spite of Clinton winning the Presidency in 1992, Democrats lost a seat in the Senate and several in the House. Moral of the story? Americans didn't reward Democrats for going after a lame duck President. They likely won't reward them if that is what they do over the next two years.
What is unfair is the idea that I don't understand the chain of events... in a better written post from 11-9 I wrote this about the same sort of subject:
So should they start the investigations? From a political standpoint it has never been a real good thing for one party to
I thought I would move on to something funny or lighter today, but I am still thinking along the lines of what I posted yesterday. I want to start by addressing one of the few comments I got (yeah, what's going on? Why aren't people commenting anymore? I see the stats- people ARE reading. Please, join the discussion). Tasha, BKA La Bella Noire (check out her blog, it's great!)had this to say:I hear what you're saying, and agree to a point. If you look at a lot of the men who don't reserve themselves solely for black women actually appear to be happy. I've also noticed that black women who don't limit themselves to one brand of love, i.e. date whomever regardless of race, also seem happier than the black women who sit there and bitch and moan about how there's a black man shortage. (sorry I have to say it like that...just because he's dating a white woman right NOW does NOT mean he won't date a sista)I'm not ignorant as to think that the answer to the issue is for everyone t
The Supreme Court issued an order Sunday to the Chamati Land Pooling Project to furnish answers regarding the project. The court issued order after a hearing on sunday on...
Hey everyone! I'm new here and really timid about sewing b/c I've never once opened my machine since I got it last Christmas and I've never sewn before. I'm normally on scrapbook boards and finally got brave enough to venture out and learn how to sew.
I saw the threads for questions under this forum but I'm still a little confused. Where is this beginning manual I read about when I registered that would hopefully help me to get started and being a newbie, how can I take advantage of the membership that you have to pay for for a month? I did the free one until I can get started and get going and I'm just curious if I should even look in these sections and where they are before I lose out on it!
Thanks!! Btw, you'll probably be seeing a lot of me posting around going ok, what in the world
