Former No Secrets member Jessi Malay is out with the video to her new single 'Cinematic', featuring DJ Felli Fel, off the Los Angeles based R&B singer's forthcoming debut album on Warner Bros. Records. Watch it below the fold.
DJ Food (Turntables), Luke Flowers (Drums), Tom Chant (Saxophone), Nick Ramm (Piano), Stuart McCallum (Guitar) and Phil France (Double Bass) and Stuart McCallum (Guitar) make up Cinematic Orchestra a British based Jazz/Electronica band. They’re currently signed on to independent label Ninja Tune.

Cinematic Orchestra's fourth studio album, Ma Fleur soars from start to finish. The disc opens with the all-too-brief "That Home" which showcases a new guest vocalist brought into the Orchestra clan, Montreal native Patrick Watson whose Coldplay-meets-Jeff-Buckley fragility fits inside the folds of the sparse melody perfectly; his contribution to the sweeping soundscape of closer "To Build a Home"

Cinematic is actually Jessi Malay’s second single from her yet-to-be-titled album that should be dropping this Summer, but I understand the general public’s being unaware of this since her first single, “Booty Bangs”, which featured Yung Joc, failed to make any kind of impact at all.

This live set from Ninja Tune favorites The Cinematic Orchestra was recorded in November 2007 at the storied hall venue featured in its title. With the addition of strings and other niceties backing up the band's compliment of turntablist, drums, guitars, piano, brass, and double bass, the set featured numerous guest playes as well as vocalists, all of whom appear throughout this recording, one that balances nicely between jazz and mild electronic influences.

Performed live by the orchestra, Man With a Movie Camera doesn't allow J Swinscoe to indulge in his usual post-production magic, but it is a surprisingly adept score, with occasional bursts of o

Next to Death Cab's Narrow Stairs, the forthcoming debut EP by Cinematic Sunrise is my most anticipated release of 2008. For those unaware, Cinematic Sunrise is the side project of Craig Owens and Brad Bell from Chiodos that has been in the works for a few years now.Taking a softer approach than Chiodos brand of hardcore and thankfully missing the Cookie Monster vocals of Jesse Korman of The Number 12 Looks Like You, Cinematic Sunrise first crossed my path on the Equal Vision Records (best label ever) summer sampler CD last May. Their song "The Wordless" was the last track listed on the CD, and featured a new Chiodos song, "Teeth the Size of Piano Keys" in anticipation of their at the time forthcoming album Bone Palace Ballet. As far as I know of, five songs have been released online so f

Alone in the Dark 5 is the latest game in the long-running series (which was the first 3D horror game, preceding Resident Evil) and will be hitting Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, PC and DS in early 2008.
Details on the game are still relatively scarce. It will however contain an open-world, set in modern day (and at least partially in New York as the trailer below reveals) where players, as series protagonist Edward Carnby, can undertake a variety of activities. Including stealing cars (via a hotwire mini-game, succeed and the car is stolen, fail and it will alert nearby enemies), instead of being confined to a narrow path. The game will also make extensive use of physics for gameplay, something the survival horror genre hasn’t experimented with to a large degree. New mechanics and a different play-style will also separate the new installment.
Developer Eden Games has mentioned that they want the structure of the game to be similar to television shows like 24 and Alias and that the storyl
Os Cinematic Orchestra fazem, sobretudo, bandas sonoras para filmes imaginários (a excepção terá sido a sonorização do documentário "Man With a Movie Camera"). Site | MySpace | Wikipédia | Last.fm | Ninja Tune

The opening for Lost Odyssey has been revealed and boy is it beautiful! And I don’t just mean beautiful graphically, in fact that’s not what I mean at all, but musically! You’ll see when you watch the video but this is just what the Xbox 360 needs, and the music in this intro is so good it nearly brings tears to my eyes. If this is anywhere close to what the rest of the game sounds like then it looks to me that Nobuo Uematsu easily has one of his best soundtracks to date. Watch the beautiful intro to Lost Odyssey below.
Lost Odyssey has a release date of February 8th 2007 in Japan and February 2008 in the US and Europe.

Hey, another first for Film Flap! Someone actually contacted me about a web promotion, and asked me to check it out! Matt, representing French beer brewer Stella Artois, shot me an email about this blog, saying I "have a nice easy way with prose and the sometimes irreverent tone is spot on". After all that flattery, how could I refuse his invitation! He even sent me some swag! I could really get used to this.Anyway, I was allowed a sneak peek (everything should be live today) at the new Stella Artois website, which uses a combination of classy cinematics, smooth animation, and detailed minigames to keep the visitor busy, all while teaching about a fine beer and what makes it that way. It's a very immersive experience that is worth investigating, even if you never plan on pressing a beer glass to your lips (like me). There is something here for any web marketer, and if you plan on getting the word out about that film you're making, this site could give you a lot of ideas.Half the fun
Upcoming ConferenceAnglo-French cinematic relations since 1930An International conference hosted by Film Studies, University of Southampton, and supported by the AHRCSeptember 14-16 2007Despite the close geographical, political and cultural links between France and Britain, the dynamics of Anglo-French cinematic relations remain critically understudied. While numerous Anglophone studies have been written on French film - and indeed Francophone studies on British film - rarely do these works account for the dialectical interplay between the two at the levels of production, distribution, exhibition and reception. In order to redress this balance, this conference is aimed at an examination of the two-way flow of cinematic traffic between France and Britain from 1930 to the present day, filling significant gaps in our knowledge of British and French film and film personnel in transit, and what this reveals about the respective cultures. The conference will hopefully also have implications fo
In a rare appearance the UK’s premiere Nu-Jazz outfit, the aptly named Cinematic Orchestra plays Portland’s Aladdin Theatre on September 16th.
Here’s what the UK blog The Milk Factory has to say about their new album ‘Ma Fleur.’
“…..now, five years on, Cinematic Orchestra returns with an epic hush with Ma Fleur. Conceived as a soundtrack to a film that does not exist (yet?), it features a melancholy hero portrayed by various singers, including the brilliant-as-always legendary Fontella Bass. While Every Day relied more heavily on 21st-century musics, including synthesizers, cut up drums and vocals, and trip-hoppy bass lines, Ma Fleur is a much more restrained work. Plucked acoustic guitars, gentle strings, and slowly disarming vocals are front-and-center here; a headphone album if ever there was one. If Every Day was the chaotic sounds of an exhausted life, Ma Fleur is a weekend retreat to reconnoiter in the countryside.” Read More.

Creating memorable photographs is a process that starts before you edit an image in Photoshop, before you capture the image, even before you pick up the camera. You must first approach the subject with the proper sense of perception, with the ability to visualize the finished print before you commit a scene to pixels, but still be flexible and spontaneous. Master Fine Art photographer Vincent Versace has spent his career learning and teaching the art of perception and how to translate it into stunning images. In Welcome to Oz, he delves into what it means to approach digital photography cinematically, to use your perception, your camera, and Photoshop to capture the movement of life in a still image.
Adapt your workflow to the image so you always know how best to use your tools
Turn a seemingly impossible photographic scenario into a successful image
Practice “image harvesting” to combine the best parts of many captures to create an optimum final result

I’ll be the first to admit it, I am not a fan of the Sports genre. No hate, just, not a fan. This little teaser trailer for Madden 08 though, gets me pumped up! I am not sure for what, I don’t really want to get up out of my chair, I am comfy, but honestly, this short clip does give a little rush and I have no doubts for fans of this series or of football games in general, have to love this even more than I do, and I really do enjoy this video, enough talk, watch and enjoy!

The plot of Mass Effect revolves around a mysterious alien commander who appears to be driven by a genocidal drive to wipe humanity from the galaxy.
Facing the grave threat of galactic eradication, the fate of the human race rests with the wits of one man trying to stop an alien renegade. Enjoy the extended Mass Effect cinematic trailer by clicking on the bottom-right corner arrow to view it full-screen.
Besides plans for an Xbox 360-exclusive Mass Effect trilogy, which BioWare claims “will cover the Xbox 360’s five-plus year cycle”, there are also plans for episodic content to be uploaded to Xbox Live that will fill in the story between each of the three games, though these episodes are not essential for understanding the story of the main games.

Whether to categorize Motion as a jazz or electronica album is an intriguing conundrum, because it truly turns out to be a combination of both musical forms, and it is an unequivocally brilliant combination, at that. British arranger/programmer J. Swinscoe -- who virtually is the Cinematic Orchestra -- gathered samples of drum grooves, basslines,
Review by John Bush @ allmusic.com
With Every Day, Cinematic Orchestra move beyond the electro-jazz fusion of their debut to make a record more natural, more paced, and, surprisingly, better than the justly hyped Motion. J Swinscoe is more the arranger/conductor here than the producer, but of course, there's little need for samples or effects with such an accomplished band sharing the
