Pittsburgh 38 Cincinnati 10
It was brisk sunny autumn day along the banks of the Ohio river on Sunday afternoon. What a beautiful day for football at Paul Brown stadium in Cincinnati. Unless you were rooting for the Bengals that is. Or worse yet if you are employed by the Bengals.
Coming off of their bye [...]
Looks like another bye week right? You would look at the records and think so, but the Bengals always try to show up against us. However, you have to take into consideration Ben Roethlisberger's record in Ohio, He hasn't lost since high school. We are healed up, Casey Hampton and Willie Parker are back, which means alot for our team. Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward are due for breakout games after
Yesterday, I said I would be going down to the Saturday and Sunday Brewers' games. Well, I made it there and back. Saturday's game was pretty disappointing--an 8 - 2 loss that featured 3 errors and an(other) awful showing by Gagne. However, the Brewers were able to bounce back today--Sunday--and avoid being swept my the Cincinnati Reds before the All-Star break. CC Sabathia--who the Brewers acquir

Adam Dunn blasted a two-run homer to back six innings of six-hit, three-run ball by Johnny Cueto as the Reds clipped the Cubs 5-3 at Great American Ball Park. Cueto fanned eight to improve to 2-and-3 on the season. Francisco Cordero notched his fifth save of the year, despite giving up two walks and two hits in the ninth. Jeff Keppinger drove in a pair of runs and Edwin Encarnacion plated another for Cincinnati, which snapped a five-game skid. Geovany Soto went a perfect 3-for-3 with a home run, double, and single for Chicago. Ryan Theriot and Derrek Lee knocked in the other two runs for the Cubs, who have dropped four of their last five games. Ryan Dempster suffered his first loss of the season, giving up five unearned runs on four hits with seven punchouts in six innings.
Rickie Weeks singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Brewers outlasted the Reds 3-2 at Miller Park. Corey Patterson homered off Eric Gagne in the top of the ninth to tie the game at two for Cincinnati. Jason Kendall had an RBI single in the third and Bill Hall homered in the seventh for Milwaukee, which improved to 6-and-1 on the season. Soloman Torres got credit for the win, while David Weathers suffered the loss. Patterson also singled in a run in the seventh inning for the Reds, who fell to 4-and-4.
Chris Henry is becoming the new Pacman Jones. After being suspended for half of the season last year for violating the NFL’s conduct policy, you would think that he would’ve learned his lesson but apparently not.
Henry was arrested, again. He is accused of punching an 18 year old man in the fans and breaking his [...]
Groundbreaking School Group Report ReleasedPublic and parochial schools in Cincinnati, Covington and Newport have much in common when it comes to demographics and performance, according to agroundbreaking study released Thursday. The report also found that the inner city schools tend to lag their respective states in many measures of achievement......The study, conducted by the Strive coalition over the past two years, is unusual in that it marks the first time that extensive data have been collected in one report for Greater Cincinnati urban core schools on both sides of the Ohio River.......The study noted, for example, that only 45 percent of the children entering kindergarten in Cincinnati Public Schools arrive with the vocabulary and literacy development skills that, according to natio
There’s a really nice write-up of BuyCincy.com and founder Sean Fisher in this month’s Cincy magazine.BuyCincy showcases locally owned stores and is an all-around great resource for shopping locally. Sean participated in the recent Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky bloggers' tour of the Gateway Quarter and I had the opportunity to talk with him and tell him how much I love his site.If you haven’t checked out BuyCincy, stop by and take a look. It’s definitely worth visiting (again and again, it’s frequently updated) and if it’s not on your blogroll, it probably should be.
CINCINNATI — Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman was sentenced Friday to six days in a treatment program, settling his drunken-driving conviction.
Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge John Burlew also put Thurman on two years’ probation. Thurman is still suspended by the NFL for violating its substance abuse policy.
Thurman was one of nine Bengals arrested during a nine-month span, a streak that made Cincinnati the leading example of player misconduct in the NFL. He and receiver more…
CINCINNATI — Deltha O’Neal isn’t happy that Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis criticized him for missing a voluntary workout last month, the latest challenge for a cornerback trying to prolong his career.
The 30-year-old cornerback insisted at the start of minicamp Friday that he would keep his starting job, even though the Bengals used their first-round pick on Michigan cornerback Leon Hall in April.
“Everybody wants to be the starting corner,” said O’Neal, who avoided more…
When it comes to stupid comments, I guess nowadays in the National Football League it’s not just classified to the players, but to coaches as well. Such was the case on Wednesday, when Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis made a ridiculous statement on ESPN Radio that Bengal players are being pulled over because of profiling at work. Yes, Lewis, who is not running a football team on most days but a home for troubled players, stated that wide out Chris Henry was pulled over for not signaling a turn because of profiling.
Upon it leaking to the masses, the Bengals quickly went into damage control, and Lewis, who is supposed to be the leader of his team, back tracked his statements. “At no point did I say or mean to imply that these issues had anything to do with race,” Lewis stated. “When I spoke of our players being perhaps more subject to scrutiny than others, I was referring to their standing as public figures.” Uh, in other words, what I think Lewis meant was
Quick Hits from the College Football GrapevineNews: Washington's Michael Houston Knows How to Hail a Cab via FoxSportsFantasy College Impact: Michael Houston was going to be a trendy pick to start for the Washington Huskies at RB next season, but now you have to think Coach Willingham will make it harder for Houston to make an immediate impact. Once the charges get processed for Houston, we'll know if he's even going to be on the team in 2007.Smirk all you want, Mike, but everybody knows "gettin' a cab" doesn't really mean "gettin' a cab."News: LSU Spring Sees Perrilloux vs. Flynn + Williams vs. No-Show Broussard + Miles vs. Saban Legacy via 2theadvocate.comFantasy College Impact: Alley Broussard might be banned from the LSU Spring practice, but don't expect it to last. Broussard should be the #1 RB come Fall with Keiland Williams and Jacob Hester close behind. Look for the stability of Matt Flynn to win out over Ryan Perrilloux and his counterfeit skills . . . but it won't get
Texas A&M is one of the most storied college football programs in America. Cincinnati is just a few years removed from being just another "mid-major". Texas A&M has Kyle Field, home to the 12th Man and a crowd of 82,000 plus. Cincy has aging Nippert Stadium that on average will see between 12-15,000 fans. With those comparisons why not play at A&M, not too mention a loss to the Aggies does not seem so bad compared to losing at Cincinnati. I am not saying Fresno State is going to lose, but after a 4-8 season the prospects of winning are not what many would expect compared to other seasons. I would have to say playing at Texas A&M would be the smartest thing Pat Hill has done thus far in 2007.The Aggies are not the juggernaut they have been in the past. They certainly don't posses the speed say an LSU does. But they still are capable of wiping the floor with Tom Brandstater and the rest of the Bulldogs. But with improved quarterback play, the right team attitude and good coaching
The Cincinnatti Bengals picked up Virginia linebacker Ahmad Brooks in the 3rd round of the supplemental draft today. There were rumors that Miami might pick up Brooks in the 5th round but Cincy beat them to it.Brooks was a star at Virginia and has all the talent in the world, but he got kicked off the team completely last season. I'm not saying that he is a bad guy, or that he has shown criminal behaviour, but the guy's attitude raises some Chip Caray sized eyebrows.Brooks will now join Chris Henry, A.J Nicholson and Frostee Rucker, a group that will surely keep the Cincinnatti P.D. very busy. And from what I've been reading, it seems that linebacker Odell Thurman is also in trouble for violating the leaugue's subtance abuse policy.Yes folks, this is the same team that let Corey Dillon go because of character issues.Someone needs to get Brett Myers into Cincinnatti.
