Reason's Very Special, Very Secular Christmas Party
Ok, so maybe some people really are waging war on Christmas. This video is of Christopher Hitchens at Reason’s “Very Special, Very Secular Christmas Party.” Hitchens reads Tom Lehrer’s “Christmas Carol.“ Following is from his introduction: “It may have struck you, ladies and gentlemen, that there’s a big relationship between this marvelous time of year and living in a one-party state,” Hitchens told the overflow crowd of 250. “You can’t go anywhere without listening to the same music. You can’t go anywhere without hearing the name of the Great Leader, and his son, the Dear Leader….All broadcasts, all songs, all jokes, all references are, just for that magic few weeks, just exactly like living in…North Korea.”

"'If 'ifs' and 'buts' were candy and nuts, wouldn't it be a Merry Christmas? "Don MeredithVANILLA CUPCAKES FOR CHISTMASOK...am back again. Yesterday & today were busier than I imagined they would be. I got literally talked into volunteering to make , hold your breadth, 80 cupcakes for a Christmas party for a little play school nearby! They were in a bit of a soup, & I eventually volunteered to bake. The only memory of yesterday morning is of the muffin trays going into the oven & out!! There were cupcakes as far as the eye could see. And then the usual rush...off to school to pick the kids after guitar etc. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...this morning went in meeting with teachers before school broke-up for the holidays, and icing stars onto the cupcakes. They've been boxed and delivered!! Always enjoyable after the job has been done! The Ultimate Season Ending Playlist - Reflections of the Office Christmas Party
The Season is underway, but for the most part the crying is over. The office party gives an excellent opportunity for you to think about your future and to consider your options. Did you get a bonus? Was it really that lame?!And what about those people you spend all that time with all year long? No, not your family or friends.... I'm talking about the person sitting in the next cubicle from you at work; the idiots in the sales force, the socially backward engineers, the lazy bastard who does nothing and the executive who holds the key to your financial future. Tis The Season To Avoid Litigation: Making Sure Your Office Christmas Party Is Safe
By: Iain MackintoshAccording to recent statistics, a third of companies arent planning on hosting the traditional office Christmas Party this year, amidst concerns about legal action due to drunken antics and so forth. While I can safely say there are many more office safety risks during a party than the rest of the year (most offices just arent built for that level of snacks, alcohol and cheesy music), with a little thinking ahead the office Christmas party can become the celebrated institution it once was without the dark cloud of litigation hanging overhead. Its important to keep the office health and safety precautions in the background however no one likes the idea of constant red tape when theyre trying to unwind. Already over half of managers recently surveyed felt the celebratory atmosphere felt very forced. Here are 5 workplace health and safety steps you can take to minimise the risk of a litigious post party hangover.1) Take it out of the officeThe easiest way of avoiding the

      Seductive (or cheapskate) Christmas party
Last night the department organized a Christmas party for all the staff, and the theme was “Seductive”. I happened to have bought a party dress which I like but didn’t have any idea when I could use. My boss and I went for a hairdo, we really wanted to dress up for the theme. I always dress up for the theme, every year since I joined. I joined the company in 2003, they skipped that year. In 2004, it was Tropical Christmas, and I won the best dressed female got a Sembunyi SPA voucher. In 2005, I was pregnant and didn’t put much effort to dress up. Last year, it was Iced Christmas, and I won the best dressed femal again. This year, I knew I wouldn’t win, coz my dress is nothing seductive, but I still put in effort to make myself look good. After all, we don’t get to dress up often, do we? Received a lot of compliments last night… * blush * Actually I thought my boss really dressed seductively, 100% to the theme. Five Bands I would Like to Invite to My Christmas Party
Christmas is soon here and so is the party. I mean so called “pre-Christmas” party. We have already had that party at my work but some companies are going to have it on this week. There is always some live music in our parties. Usually there are some deadly boring old fags playing 70’s pop and rock covers. I have never seen a metal band in any parties organized by my employers. If I was in charge I would organize a bit different Christmas party.. Who would you like to see live in your party? I am into metal music, so I created a list of five bands I would like to invite to my party. After their gigs the bands would naturally join the audience and spend time with us. Which bands I would invite? Read below. Band number 5: Mokoma Mokoma is a band I would definitely invite to my party. They know how to entertain audience and how to play some trash metal. I would love to sit down with Mokoma’s singer Marko Annala and share a discussion. He is a clever guy and would

It was indeed a very fulfilling event I have experienced, it was really fun and I will never forget it..It will always be part of my tapestry in life and will be remembered when I grow old... Christmas Party
Most of the "littles" spent the afternoon at Give Kids The World annual Christmas party. This is the first year that Casey, Catherine and Lillianna attended as they were not living here last year. I think they had the greatest time since they had no previous GKTW parties to compare it to. All came home with gifts that they unwrapped for an early Christmas celebration....and was a great help for mom so I know what not to get them. Sneaky aren't I ?Ebony called bright and early this morning with accusations against staff having punched her last night. We don't have the full story yet as we haven't spoken with her therapist or staff for their version. This has got to be the hardest part of dealing with Ebony out of the home. With her mental illness her perception of things that occur are quite askewed yet how are we as parents to know what is truth and what is not ? I seriously believe that having mental illness puts her at higher risk of being abused because nobody believes the m

      Christmas Party Games Young Children
By: Elmo Kandel When planning Christmas games for young children, the options are endless. Make sure you provide room to run, do a little planning and the kids are sure to have a good time.Let's start with a few relay race ideas. Begin with a candy cane relay. Give each team 4 candy canes (and be sure to have a few more in case some break) and have the child who's running hold the candy canes between their fingers, with the crooked part of the cane hanging over their fingers. But tell them not to use their thumbs. The canes should be just carefully perched between their fingers. The children run to their teammate, exchange the candy canes (again, only using fingers), and that teammate runs to the other end and does the same. The game is over when only one team still has candy canes that haven't dropped on the floor.Another fun relay that kids love is pass the ornament. In this game, each team gets one ornament (a lightweight, basic thin glass one is fine) and a straw. They must blow

Snapshot of a comedy club Christmas party
Holy cow. I think I really understand why, in years past, I would see the parental types leaving early from the comedy club Christmas party. It becomes a madhouse of drunks, kids running around screaming, and just mayhem everywhere. There was fun to be had, of course. We ran into many of our favorite people who you may or may not have heard of. I'll refrain from the name dropping, as it probably makes me seem like, well, a name dropper. Needless to say, talented and off-kilter people were there. Here are some of the frightening and entertaining moments from our evening:Said about a million times by everyone: "IT'S THE BABY!!!"Said by just about everyone: "Is this Phil Porter's baby? So you're Phil Porter's wife?"Said by many: "Hello, Phil's Porter's wife. IT'S THE BABY!!"And so on.There were a couple of insane little girls at the party, just running amok. They would zero in on me whenever I was trying to do something with Amos. I tried to change his diaper, and they w

      Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
For our first full day at Disney World I purchased tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. I didn't quite understand why they made us pay extra money to come back in the evening. Previously, the evening activities, including the now defunct electrical parade and fireworks display, used to be free. I'm also not sure how they managed to get everyone out of the park by 7pm and readmitted for the party. In the end, we found that it was worth it for the short lines, live Christmas show, free cookies and hot chocolate and fantastic fireworks. On the way to the Magic Kingdom, Dova, who hadn't napped yet, slept on the bus, in the stroller as we wheeled her in, while Adam and Grandma sparred with their new lighted Mickey swords, through the Emporium store looking for an Ariel shirt for her, through the real generated snow blowing on Main Street and finally woke up for the Christmas show. Here are some rides activities we did that evening:Space Orbiter - We did have to wait a whi

      Christmas Party at Lynda's
We went to my friend Lynda's beautiful home for a Christmas party last night. You should have seen the look on his face when he came running in the house and saw his good friend, Aubree!! And I don't think Cameron could get over how big Lynda's house was. There was so much room to run around! So many things to see and feel! I was surprised to find out how comfortable Cameron felt with so many people at the party. Of course John and I were taking turns running after him. Here he is with Aubree and Lynda inspecting a Christmas tree with a train going around it. Even Ava had a good time chewing on some stacking toys and Christmas books. She wasn't too happy on the way to the party and on the way home, though. I thought maybe her crying in the car would subside around five months. She's almost seven months now and still hates it. I don't think she likes being strapped in. Either that or she just hates MY DRIVING. Poor girl!Kyle and Shana, thanks so much for taking the photos!!
