Christmas Lights at Night - All right!
Walking home in the dark is a fantastic experience at Christmas time. The reason being, you get to see people’s Christmas lights in all their illuminating-the-gloom glory. I actually finish my job at 2pm but I just wait around in the lobby until darkness falls so I can see all those lovely lights. To be [...]

      Christmas lights in Japan
A few pics of the most recent "state of the lights". I decided to put the new Santa's indoors because my neighbor has them (and had them first) so I will avoid the appearance of "one-ups'manship". I will leave the School door open though so he can see them as he drives by. I think he or his daughter read the blog? If so...Your move!!I'm playin' I'm playin!!!

      Christmas Lights: Environmentally Lame?
Today I saw on the news a guy had decked out his house to be essentially covered in Christmas lights. His house was incredibly bright at night. The focus of the story was how the traffic nearby was affected by it, and whether or not that made traffic cops necessary. There was little mention of the environmental impact.Every light bulb uses electricity. So he's using a ton to light his house. I'm not saying he shouldn't, but maybe in the future there'll be energy-efficient Christmas lights?

Man Dies While Hanging Christmas Lights
A man in East Palo Alto, California died while hanging lights in a redwood tree. His lights touched two power lines electrocuting him.For all of those who think Christmas is so important, ask yourselves was his life worth it simply to hang up decorations that don't mean a damned thing?

Are Your Christmas Lights Saving Energy?
My husband and I have jumped on the bandwagon to save energy in our home by using LED lights. My mother has also started using LED lights. So this Christmas we'll be saving energy. How about you? Here's some information that you need to know: Standard incandescent lights are outdated, inefficient, costly, and bad for the environment. LED Christmas lights use 1/10th the energy and will last for more than 50,000 hours compared to less than 2000 for standard incandescents. The lights are also safer because they create very little heat--only 1 degree above ambient temperature. LED holiday lights also are very durable as they are constructed of a nearly indestructible epoxy plastic and contain no fragile filament or glass like incandescents. A recent EPA report determined that if 20% of American homes switched to LED Christmas lights during the average 30 day holiday season it would save 400GWh of electricity (and this assumes replacement of incandescent mini lights, not the bigger C9 sty

Historically, I've had some problems with Christmas lights...
I called my parents the other day to see how they were faring after a winter storm that blew through Iowa. They were fine.My dad inquired about the status of my Christmas lights. Are they up yet? Where did you put them?I laughed. No, Dad, I don't have lights up.You don't? When are you going to do them?Dad. You're not going to put lights up? Didn't you learn anything from your father?Yep. I learned not to do it.When I was a child, our house was one of the few in the neighborhood that didn't have Christmas lights hanging from its bushes. Every year my brothers and I would beg our parents to decorate the outside of the house. They always said no.After my brothers and I grew up and moved away, my dad started putting Christmas lights on the house. The day after Thanksgiving. Every year.I found this perplexing. Why was he doing it now? A replica of the Christmas star, guiding we three wise(wo)men home?I have to admit, after we all pray my father doesn't wipe out while standing on a hor

Christmas Lights, Shmooshed Toes & Pizza!
So I managed to let Black Friday and Cyber Monday go by without getting my credit card lukewarm. I've been making lists, but I just haven't had the time or the energy (I've been battling a cold for a few weeks now) to do any more research.Research being deciding what exactly to get each kid (Hubby and I already decided how much $$ to spend), and then where to get those things at the best price. Hopefully I'll put in some online orders tonight. I tell myself I'll shop early every year, but I DON'T!And I FINALLY put up the tree today. The Christmas lights are giving me heartburn. Don't you HATE when some string of lights work great, but if one bulb goes out, the whole line goes out? Or PART of the line? I use small bulb strings along with big old fashioned bulbs. And I think the big bulbs blew after 1 hour of them being on.I waited until the kids were home from school so we could all put the ornaments on together. UGH! The girls were nutty. Christmas lights, Ghosts, Santa and stuff...
This Thursday, 29th November, is the night when Crewe's Christmas lights are, hopefully, flicked on without a hitch. As well as the town's electricity bill rocketing, there's a feast of entertainment to be had from 5pm onwards. The big fella in red suit with a fluffy white beard will WOW the kids, while some of this year's panto cast (from Beauty and the Beast) will meet the crowd. A lantern parade will start proceedings, local bands will play, new radio station ASE FM (from Adelaide School) will DJ and Star Quest 2007 winner Becky Irlam will perform her latest single. CNBC Mayor councillor Maurice Jones will be on hand and will kick-start the fireworks at around 6.30pm. ..Shopaholics (like Mrs Crewe blog) will be delighted to know that the event also signals the start of late-night shopping each and every Thursday until December 20th. And if all that wasn't enough, to get into the spirit of A Christmas Carol, Crewe Ghost Walk is giving a FREE tour courtesy of the Cultural Departm

      Christmas Lights
Thanksgiving is officially over. This means only one thing, Christmas time is here. It is time for decorations, Christmas lights, and Christmas presents. As a child, my Christmas decorating job was to put up the lights on the Christmas tree. However, before I could do this, I had to search each light strand for broken lights. Additionally, I had to plug the lights in to see which ones had burnt out. HolidayLEDS.com is solving this age old, Christmas light problem. Did you know that LED lights use 1/10th as much energy as incandescent lights? Additionally, LED lights last for more than 50,000 hours as compared to incandescent lights that only last 1,500 hours.LED Christmas lights might be slightly more expensive the incandescent lights, however, because the LED lights last more than 30 times longer than the incandescent lights, you are paying far less for the LED lights in the long run.Save money and energy this holiday season by checking out all of the LED Christmas lights at Hol

      Christmas Lights
It is just the time for Christmas isn’t it? Hrmph… well, yes it is. We need new Christmas lights. I think ours from last year have been up most of the summer, and they are falling apart. I need to string them all out and see if any of them work anymore. If they don’t, I seriously want to get some LED Xmas lights instead of the old regular incandescent kind. They create very little heat and they also save a lot of energy. If everyone went to these over Christmas, our energy consumption would be greatly decreased. And I’m always looking for ways to help the environment!

Cut Costs with LED Christmas Lights
Having a growing business and facing the Christmas season doesn't always make for a financially happy holiday. Wave a lot of money goodbye. The nice thing is that you can cut costs on what is usually expensive electric bills around this time with LED holiday lights.LED Christmas lights save a ton of cash over conventional incandescent lights. Those fuel-sucking kind tend to consume 80% to 99% more electricity! That's not nice! The other cool things about LED Christmas tree lights is that they burn a lot cooler and are nearly indestructible. It's very pleasant when you don't have to worry about the old Christmas tree going up in flames! hehe.Next time you hit the store, keep LED lights in mind. Saving money so you can max out your credit cards on gifts is a very good thing....um.....well...... ;)Here's to your success!TonyFind the tools I used for my success at http://www.mybiztools.net

christmas lights and holiday gift ideas
In less than three months’ time, Christmas is here again. A timeless holiday gift idea in the gift of books: photo albums and scrapbooks. Whenever a natural disaster strikes and someone’s home has become destroyed, when asked what they miss the most out of their belongings, it is always the family photo album. Photos hold our memories with them, and help remind us of where we came from and what we have become. Thus small, handmade collections of special photos are always a welcome and timeless gift to receive. (more…)

how i love those Christmas lights
This is the first time our family is spending Christmas out of the country and I'm so excited about it! I'm truly glad that I manage to convince DH to spend Christmas in LA with his cousins and brother. Clayton will have a great time with the kids while we adults chill out over the fireplace and enjoy our turkey dinners! How I miss those Christmas celebrations where I used to hang out with my buddies in town til wee hours of the morning - we were young then :)Besides the gift giving, a time of love and sharing, I love the christmas lights and decorations that lit the hotels and town area. Sadly, I don't see much of those led christmas lights in KL city but in Hong Kong and Singapore, the Christmas decorations are worth watching. Like it or not, these christmas lights create a happy mood and add excitement to the season. Without them, the entire town will be dead, boring and life-less.But amidst the celebrating, drinking, eating and gift giving, let's not forget that Jesus is the re

      Honolulu Hale Christmas Lights
Last night we took the family to Honolulu Hale to see their annual Christmas Lights Display. Every Christmas, they have beautiful lighting creations and Christmas trees decorated by various city departments. Going there has become a family tradition. I know Ma can relate! ************************* They even had a Hawaiian Santa taking pictures with the kids and handing out candy canes. I thought he was a little strange, though. After Girlie Girl took her picture with him, he said that I should take one, too. I really didn’t want to but he kept insisting and everyone in line was watching us. So I agreed. He kept telling the photographer to take “just one more”. Weirdo! The things I’ll do for a candy cane!
