I picked up a book at a Barnes and Nobles in Oakland this week - something non-business to read on the plane back to South Carolina. Normally it’s all business but since I’ve been on 24/7 for a while I thought I’d take a break. I picked up Michael Crichton’s book “Next.” A pure fiction book, written a couple year’s ago, it focuses on gene therapy and the use – or more accurately

Scientists have begun blurring the line between human and animal by producing chimeras—a hybrid creature that’s part human, part animal.
Chinese scientists at the Shanghai Second Medical University in 2003 successfully fused human cells with rabbit eggs. The embryos were reportedly the first human-animal chimeras successfully created. They were allowed to develop for several [...]

And one more Halloween clip from NCIS “Chimera.”
NCIS is ready for its 100th episode to air on October 30th at 8pm on CBS. Wow, can you believe it’s 100 episodes already. I don’t watch NCIS on a regular basis, but do enjoy the occasional episode here and there. I think what I enjoy is the relationship between the characters, it’s so nice to watch them.
Episode Description: “Chimera” - Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the team investigate a mysterious death aboard a top-secret naval research ship in the middle of the ocean, only to discover an abandoned ship and a deadly secret that could cost them their lives.

Jason Chimera aside from being the joker in the Blue Jackets locker room is started to show that he is much more than a checking line forward. In an exhibition game last week he had a goal 2 assists and 2 fights. A Gordie Howe hat trick plus some. (Gordie Howe hat trick is a goal a fight and an assist). When speaking to a reporter about it he said:Reporter: "Do you prefer Gordon or Gordie?" Chimera: "Mr. Howe would be fine."How can you not love that guy? Chimera is such an important part of the Blue Jackets. When Hitchcock took over last season he sat all the players down and gave them specific rolls. Hitch told Chimera...that everyone has to check and everyone has to score. Also, when Hitchcock got here Chimera's all around performance improved. Chimera had two goals, four assists and a minus-5 rating in 20 games before Hitchcock was hired last season. In 62 games under Hitchcock, he had 13 goals, 17 assists and a plus-7 rating.Pretty impressive. During training camp Chimera
Those multicolored raindrops actually hit my skin ; that voice from the disembodied head resonated in my ears; the lace-light arcing tunnels blurred as I moved through them at great speed; and that heavy sensation of gravity (pulling me down in darkness into transition with the others) was as real as what you feel when your airplane suddenly drops due to turbulence. The descriptions in Part One of this post just can't convey how real the experiences in those dreams were.
I had a little epiphany in a giant bookstore. So I'm in Chapters a few years ago, and I pick up a slim volume about yogic practices. It explains the history and the how-to process of out-of-body-experiences (o.b.e). As I'm scanning it-- wishing there was a Mystical Experiences for Dummies quick guide-- I come across the
Scientists have created the world's first human-sheep chimera - which has the body of a sheep and half-human organs. The sheep have 15 per cent human cells and 85 per cent animal cells - and their evolution brings the prospect of animal organs being transplanted into humans one step closer. Professor Esmail Zanjani, of the University of Nevada, has spent seven years and £5million perfecting the technique, which involves injecting adult human cells into a sheep's foetus. He has already created a sheep liver which has a large proportion of human cells and eventually hopes to precisely match a sheep to a transplant patient, using their own stem cells to create their own flock of sheep. The process would involve extracting stem cells from the donor's bone marrow and injecting them into the peritoneum of a sheep's foetus. When the lamb is born, two months later, it would have a liver, heart, lungs and brain that are partly human and available for transplant.Perhaps in the future, "he"
After many years experience in the wine making business at several prominent wineries all over the world, Sean Capiaux founded Capiaux Cellars in 1994. Producing exclusively Pinot Noirs he mixes traditional Burgundy wine making methods with more modern techniques to produce the ultimate wines. His wines are naturally fermented, aged in mostly 1-2 year old French Oak (only about 1/3 are new barrels), unfined, and unfiltered, the goal being for the wine to show it's terrior. Later in 2001 he also started O'Shaughnessy Estate Winery, which produce Cabernet Sauvignon. The Capiaux 2005 Chimera Sonoma County Pinot Noir shows a beautiful dark red ruby color in the glass. On the nose dark plum, cherries and an earthy quality. Tastes of restrained cherries and raspberry on the palate, with firm tannins and enough acidity for this wine to age well for several years to come.I payed $28 for this wine, but you can find it at Wine-Searcher.com from $23.95.I really enjoyed this Pinot and think the p
