Can you believe that W actually took this little container with chilli and put into his school bag? On the way to school on Wednesday, while he was chatting away, he caught my attention when he told me that he had chilli in his bag.I demanded to see his bag and was shocked to discover this little container. It was taken from the fridge at home. Upon interrogation, he told me he wanted to give to Eason, one of the kids in Tr O's place and let him eat. For the entire day, I was still wondering why on earth he wanted to give chilli to his friend. When I related the story to Tr O, she couldn't help but burst to laughter. She always 'threatens' her kids that whoever is the last to finish their meals will be punished to take chilli. W is almost always the last. He probably wanted to 'retaliate'
"It's 8pm and I fancy something to nibble on.... Mmmmmm, what shall I have?"How many times do you have that munchie feeling during the evening? For me, it is almost every evening...lol! Tonight being no exception. One of my favourite snacks is Roasted Pumpkin Seeds. The recipe for this is quite simple, so I will not send you to sleep with countless photographs. All you need is some Olive Oil, salt and a bag of Pumpkin Seeds. I like a bit of a kick to pumpkin seeds, so I have substituted Olive Oil with Chilli Oil and I also use some chilli flakes. Both of these items are optional. The first step it to cover a baking tray with foil. Then spread the pumpkin seeds over the foil base. Lightly drizzle some olive oil (chilli oil) over the seeds, then season with salt (and chilli flakes if desired).
I always loved chinese food, especially Indo-Chinese. When I first came to Germany, J took me to a chinese restaurant, and when the menu cards arrived, I eagerly opened them to find dishes like Manchuria, Chilly Chicken, Ginger Chicken etc etc... But to my surprise I found something like Kung-Pao, Chicken in sweet and sour sauce etc...I was very much disappointed at the fact that, Manchuria and Chilly Chicken etc, are found only the the Chinese restaurants in India.Last weekend we have been to our friend's place in Munich, and suddenly the two men J and J wanted to have something spicy and so we decided to make Chilly Chicken, after browsing on net for the recipe, and after mix and match from here and there, we came up with this recipe.Ingredients:For Chicken:Chicken Breasts: 500 gms, cut
This recipe is an original - my wife and one of her "foodie" friends made it up! It's a delicious and simple spicy sauce - and I love spicy food!I don't have a photo at the moment as we have finished all the sauce (!) but as soon as possible I'll upload a photo here.Ingredients2 ounces long green chilli peppers (the variety which is about 20cm long),2 glasses of water1 glass of olive oil½ glass of medium wine vinegar.PreparationWash the peppers and boil them whole in the water, oil and vinegar for 15 minutes.Remove the peppers from boil and take them out of the pot, do not throw away the liquid.Allow them to cool until you are able to remove the skin and the stem, but not the seeds (It will help if you wear gloves at this stage otherwise you may suffer an unpleasant burning feeling in you

This is one of the best interviews I've read in a long time. TLC member Chilli sat down and had a very open and candid conversation with blog buddie Necole Bitchie. She opened up to Necole and spoke about love, relationships, her new song "Dumb Dumb Dumb", and what she does to keep her skin so glowing and youthful. Chilli also revealed to Necole who she still loves and the one who got away.....and who may want to fight her after reading this interview!!!!!!! Magazine Scan: Real GossipVia Panache Report: TLC star Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas has ended her romance with CNN newsman T.J. Holmes. "He lasted a couple of months longer than usual. That sounds bad but it's true." And talking of recent relationships, Thomas, who famously dated Usher and has a son by top producer Dallas Austin, is keen to blast rumors she romanced model-turned-actor Tyson Beckford. This weekend I have been busy doing some more gardening. I posted earlier about the hottest chillies known to man, the Dorset Naga. Well, I was very lucky to be given some of these by a colleague at work who bought some from www.reallycoolseeds.com.This is the selection that I have ended up with as a present from him:Dorset Naga: described as having a really hot fruity flavour, and rated as around 900,000 SHU they are the hottest chillies ever discovered. I am not sure what to cook with these just yet, apparently you just wave them near your food to get the flavour into it.Orange Habanero: Another blisteringly hot chilli, which are salmon orange when ripe. They have a fruity flavour.Hungarian Hot Wax: Easy to grow according to the pack which is good. They are supposed to be good fr

I was forwarded a link to this article the other day by a friend at work. In the summer I normally grow some chilli's out on the patio, although with last years distinct lack of summer, I did not have much luck and they all rotted on the bush before getting ripe. I found this article very interesting indeed. These chilli farmers in Dorset have grown some record breakingly hot chilli's, called the Dorset Naga.I found it quite hard to believe how hot these are, especially considering where they are grown, I mean I normally associate chilli's with coming from hot, exotic countries like India, Thailand, South America, and then Dorset!Anyway, the scale to measure the heat of a chilli is called the Scoville scale. To give you an idea of just how hot these are lets put it into context -FROM H

I love Chilli Crabs but unfortunately or fortunately, I haven't got over the phobia of killing and preparing crabs. Hence, I use other ingredients in replacement of crabs. Just like this previous dish here. The other day I had cravings for chilli crabs (again). I got the prawns meant for another dish to make Chilli Prawns instead, using the same ingredients and same way I did 0the previous dish but using prawns of course.I didn't want to have rice. So I grab a bunch of soba and cooked it. Add the prepared chilli prawns to it and voila! Hmmm ... Italian dish with Japanese and Singaporean flavours! Very fusion!I wished I had used Penne instead of Soba. Why? So I can eat quietly but still be able to grab more sauce in every bite. I was slurping so loudly with my plate of soba I think the Japanese would be happy. * Chilli Prawns *http://feeds.feedburner.com/wokkingmum

This was a suprise, Chilli stormed in this morning and made it clear that his number one objective was to bring Jose Mourinho to Chilli Pepper FC.
Chilli was pretty certain Jose’s recent comments were a hint that his offer of two (not one, two!!) spicy meals a week and a can of diet coke were being considered by Mourinho.
Of course there is the legal issues to get sorted with Roman Abramovich, but Chilli said people shouldn’t under estimate the Russian love of hot food!

Got home tonight to find Chilli slumped on the couch watching a pile of DVDs. This didn’t seem much like the training plan Chilli had lined up for the day.
The DVD that was playing was a Will Ferrell movie called Stranger Than Fiction, which Chilli said he could really relate to (he’s a little self involved, is our Chilli).
He then got on his soapbox and started making all kinds of claims that nothing he did “was ever private” and that he’d had “enough of everyone commenting” on his life. I really don’t know where he gets these ideas from - honestly - talk about a dramatist! He’d annoyed me so much I just had to blog it.
Not sure if it’s the weather or something else, but Chilli has not been himself since coming back from Hamburg. We had our suspicions that Chilli was not exactly sticking to the ‘clean living’ plan in Hamburg when we found the following hidden under his pot:
Really didn’t know how to discuss this with Chilli, but I think I might have to if he doesn’t pick up the training soon. He’s looking out-of-sorts to me.

In Touch Weekly reports Usher's man Tameka Foster let Rozonda"Chili" Thomas have it during an unexpected run-in at Usher's mom's Jonetta Patton's house. Supposedly Chili is still very cool with mama Patton and stopped by for her regular visits but Tameka wasn't having it. Talk about a control freak!!Tameka walked in and hit the roof. She screamed at Chilli, “Doesn’t your boyfriend have a mom you can visit?” Chilli just told her to grow up and walked out laughing As much as I would love to believe this...sorry In Touch but you need more people! I highly doubt Jonetta allows Tameka to be anywhere near her home, especially unannouced. However if this actually went down, Chili rep the classy woman she is.
It’s party time for Chilli, he’s been training so hard we’ve given him a break and sent him off on a party weekend to Hamburg.
He’s staying in some place called the reaper-barn, or something. Being a barn it’s prbably somehting to do with plants. He says it’s hot there, so being a chilli he should fit right in.
One of the commonest fish found at wet markets in Malaysia has got to be the black pomfret (the cheaper cousin of the usual silver pomfret). The black pomfret, however, usually has a slightly more “fishy” taste / smell and therefore, it is not usually steamed compared to its more expensive cousin. At home, our usual way of cooking the black pomfret is to fry it after marinating it with a little salt. In case you are wondering whether I eat fish, yes I do. Just that I usually have them fried with simple salt marinade and I thought it is TOO SIMPLE a dish and that’s why I don’t post them up on this blog.
Anyway, with black pomfret, some cook it with assam-based gravy and some with tau-cheo based gravy. Mine here is more a simple chilli sambal which is “pasted” on top of the fish. The chilli sambal can also be considered a dip and you can serve it using another sauce plate in case you don’t want to spice up the fish (if you have little kids arou

Just had to post this.A customer shot a fast food restaurant boss because he wouldn't give him more chilli sauce. The gunman wanted 10 sachets to go with his order of a Caesar salad, five chicken nuggets and a bowl of chilli. But when cashier Susan Byrob-Fimo told him it was company policy to only hand out three he got more and more angry. The manager Renel Frage, 20, came out to speak to the man and he shot him several times at Wendy's diner, Miami. Renel was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds to his shoulder. He said: "I'll be OK. He hadn't checked his bag because I had given him 11 packets of chilli sauce. I was trying to be nice." Miami-Dade police said: "It is sad someone would almost take someone else's life over something so trivial as chilli sauce." (source Daily Mail)

Salvation – all is not lost and Chilli, that resilient little plant, is back in training.
You see, after our worrying trip with Farmer Giles, it looked like nothing would pull Chilli out of this slump – but then we had a cunning plan.
Everyone knows that when a student gets disheartened they head for the pub. It’s a well-proven fact that a pint of beer can cure wrinkles, dissolve worries and promote intelligent thinking (ok – not so sure on that last one). With nothing to loose, we took Chilli on a pub-crawl.
I know what your thinking, surely Chilli is in training, but desperate times calls for desperate measures (or at least large measures at the bar). And what a success! On our third pub, we ran into three other chilli plants and given Chilli’s state of intoxication we were a little worried things might get nasty. But as it turns out, Chilli learnt a special secret.
You see, the other chilli plants, which looked tall and well grown, were in the pub drowning thei

A bit of investigating has turned up some history on Chilli’s grandad or, more correctly, great great great great great (…I need enough “greats” for about 7,000 years.)
It turns out that 7,000 years ago this very Tuesday (you see, I needed all those greats!) there occurred in South America an historic event. It was nothing less than the first eating of a chilli.
It is understood, though accounts are hazey, that a group of Pre-Columbian Native Americans, after a hard day erecting a temple to the Sun God, fancied a bite to eat. Unfortunately, at that time, there was no local curry house, or chippie, or even an Esso garage where you could get a Kit Kat. All there was, in fact, was the jungle.
Now, the jungle can be a junlge at the best of times, but when you are looking for a curry, or a large single of chips, or a Kit Kat, it is doubly so. All that jungle and not a bite to eat. The pre-Columbian Native Americans got mightily cheesed off. But they were stil
It just goes to show you can never second-guess a chilli plant. To give Chilli a break from his hard training regime (which as far as I can tell involves laying in the sun, which Chilli insists is hard work), we said he could pick a place for a short weekend break.
We gave him a long list of possible places that we thought he’d enjoy and would be at home in, ranging from the New Forest to the Amazon. But, very much to our surprise, Chilli has picked Newcastle!
Chilli explained that it was a close thing between Newcastle and Manchester (I had to double-take on this one) but in the end Newcastle won because Chilli wanted to see the Angel of the North. He went on to explain he’d always wanted to see an angel and the nearest he’d ever come was seeing a rusty old metal angel on the top of his friend Chris (-mas tree) one year. I hope he’s not disappointed.
Chilli has been with us for two days now and although he seems to be settling in he’s been very quiet today. I thought at first he’d been on the beer again last night (he comes from a drinking culture) but he said he was dry.
He perked up in the afternoon and made a couple of jokes about cacti (I don’t think the two families get on very well), but I had to warn him that we didn’t approve of predjudice talk in this house. It was a prickly subject from then on, adoption is harder than you think.
Long ago (well last Saturday), in a place far, far away (ok - West Sussex) a chilli pepper plant was lonely and sad. You see, this chilli was not like other chilli plants, he had a dream. A dream to be more than just a plant, but a valuable member of the chilli society - but life (or lack of sun light) was holding him back.
Then, a magical thing happened. Three people entered the room (bar) where ‘Chilli‘ lived and took pity on his sad, fruitless sole. They were kind, friendly people (they wobbled a bit but chilli figured it was a human thing), and made a pact to help Chilli fulfil his dream.
Before Chilli could say ‘could you water me please’ the three had paid the mighty sum of 15 pounds and entered Chilli into the Chichester Chilli Pepper Challenge. Chilli was on his way to a new home and a new life - this blog is his story.

This is one of those dishes that only I alone will eat. My hubby doesn't eat this. My son doesn't really enjoy it but will still eat some without chilli. But I love it. I can't really take spicy stuff so I add chilli only sparingly.Ingredients: 10 strings of long beans, cut into equal sections 1 tablespoon dried shrimps; soaked to soften and grind if preferred. ½ tablespoon garlic ¼ cup water Oil for frying Ready-made chilli sauce/Sambal Belacan (I use Hommaid Brand - Nyonya Crispy Prawn Chilli Sauce; something I can handle) How to do it: Deep fry the long beans for 1 - 2 minutes. Do this if you prefer a soften bite.Drain and set aside.Stir fry garlic and grind dried shrimps with oil till fragrant. Add in long bean and stir fry for about 5 minutes or till desired softness. Add in your chilli sauce or Sambal Belacan and mix well. If it is too dry, add in some water. Serve with rice. Note:I don’t add salt as I think the dried shrimp are salty enough.
Abalone is a sought after food item for the Chinese community and it is prized for its claimed nutritional value. Scientists are still figuring out whether abalones are indeed high in nutrition but for me, unless you eat it everyday, eating it once a year won’t make a difference to your health. Abalones are [...]

Former TLC memeber Chilli has been working on her solo effort lately, and one of her first singles “Straight Jackem” has leaked. I’m still in disbelief of how TERRIBLE this track is. I was expecting so much better from her. What do you think?:

Chilli Garlic Tofu Snack is just a name I use to describe this dish because I am unaware whether there is an original name to this dish. Just like the Ikan Bilis Snack, this is another one of those easy to cook yet delicious food. And extremely affordable too.
The garlic gives this dish an aromatic [...]
I'm not a chilli person. I can't take spicy stuff but I love Green Chilli (that is not to spicy). I thought I should try making my own green chilli so I can have it when I cook Hor Fan.I'm not sure if my method it correct but it tasted right on the 4th day. So I guess this method is okay.I added a small bottle of white rice vinegar and 6 tablespoon of sugar with my sliced green chilli. I let it stand for 2 days before I add a cup of water to dilute it otherwise the smell of vinegar is too pungent.Add lesser sugar if you like your chili a bit more spicy.
I'm the only person at home who loves to eat Ladies' Finger. My father introduced me to this vegetable when I was a teenage. I was hesitant to eat it as it sticky. Looks a bit *yucks* especially when cooked without chilli. I fell in love with it after one bite. My father told me when choosing ladies' finger, use the thumb to bend the tip of the ladies finger. If it breaks then it's "young'. Get these! The "older' ones won't break. These are not tender - no crunch. Leave these. An auntie method but quite true.I don't have a problem with buying ladies' finger because the seller in the market here has "baby' one. It's only half the length on the normal ones. Really tender.Ingredients:15 - 20 pieces of ladies finger if you are using regular ones; sliced diagonally and discard the top 1 tablespoon dried shrimps; soaked to soften and grinded if preferred.½ tablespoon garlic¼ cup waterOil for fryingReady-made chilli sauce/Sambal.Belacan (I use Hommaid Brand - Nyonya
