Children at an Exeter school are feeling happier and healthier after researchers working on a project to tackle childhood obesity helped them change the way they live.Instead of watching TV or playing video games and snacking on fizzy drinks or sweets, pupils at Whipton Barton now join in sports and eat fruit. The success of the project, by a team from the Peninsula Medical School, means it might be copied in hundreds of other schools across the UK.Researchers have spent two years working in schools in the city to develop resources for teachers to help convince children to be healthier. Children at Whipton Barton took part in rugby sessions with the Exeter Chiefs and drama and dancing sessions to help them understand the benefits of eating properly.
