      Pokey Chatman speaks
I can’t take credit for this one. I have to give a shout out to “Mel” for bringing this article to my attention. On my last Pokey update, Mel commented on how she is still “searching for answers” because she loves Pokey and was horrified when she abruptly departed ways with LSU. Thanks to Mel, we [...]

The station reported that Chatman would join the Spartak Moscow Region team. Chatman’s California-based agent, Eric Weisel, did not return a phone message left at his office. Reached by phone at his home, Chatman’s father, Douglas more…

Pokey Chatman says LSU didn’t want her there
I hunt for Pokey Chatman updates like a coke addict on the city streets searching for a dealer. I can’t help myself. I want to know what’s going on. I want to know what happened. And I want to know why no one else is talking about this. The situation appeared to have been resolved, but sometimes appearances can be deceiving. The truth is that there were far too many loose ends left dangling in mid air for anything to be fully resolved. Therefore, every time I log into ESPN, it’s not because I want to check the latest scores of the WNBA or update myself on what’s going on with the Kansas City Chiefs during preseason. (They’re my favorite team, but I could care less about preseason football.) I log in for one reason and one reason only, to see if there is any breaking news about Pokey. Ever since she left LSU, she’s been ghost. No one has seen her or heard from her save for her lawyer and the LSU athletic department. Either Pokey is as good as 007 wh

Chatman accepted a settlement offer of $160,000 from LSU general counsel Ray Lamonica, ending all contractual ties between Chatman and the university and any future threats of lawsuits by Chatman. “In a nutshell, we’ll take it,” said Mary Olive Pierson, who has been Chatman’s more…

Chatman would drop suit vs. LSU for bonus money
By Glenn Guilbeau, Gannett News Service BATON ROUGE — Threats of an $850,000-or-more lawsuit against LSU by former women’s basketball coach Pokey Chatman may go away if both sides can agree on what the bonus clauses in Chatman’s contract actually mean. Chatman attorney Mary Olive Pierson threatened in a letter dated April 13 to sue LSU for the remaining two years of her client’s contract, which paid Chatman approximately $425,000 a year, on the grounds that LSU forced her resignation more…

Pokey Chatman: Lesbians in College Basketball
It’s getting to be that time of year when the basketball crazies grip most everyone. Many of us will be engaging in the impossible exercise of guessing which of 64 teams will win over the course of the next three weekends. This is fun, but if you are looking to get rich off the office pool, scratch tickets are a more lucrative investment. But, everyone can appreciate the live streams at the office, which are much more important than work. The women will also be playing. I think I am being objective in making the observation that women’s basketball is beyond ready for prime time. It seems almost as good as the men's college games, and to my taste is more exciting than the NBA.But, the bad news on that front is a scandal that has erupted down at LSU.Head women’s basketball coach, Pokey Chatman, has resigned. The girls will head off to the NCAA tournament under the direction of assistant coach Bob Starkey.Miss Chatman was a respected and popular coach at LSU. A former LSU star play
